  • TIVO wins! but I have the Foxtel iqhd

  • tivo is HUGE and bulky and i reckon its a big paperweight. you can get pvrs with much better features and ui's for loads less. t-box's ui is stunning!

  • @marquista96 tbox sucks ive had it for almost 2 years now it sucks and the remote breaks all the time

  • I purchased a Tbox and am very happy For $299 it is a much cheaper alternative than a foxtel subscription . I am a bigpond customer and it has limitations

  • @SXSHOW I don't work for TiVo and never have but i can tell you your wrong! You can indeed record 2 channels and watch a third channel at the same time as long as the third channel is in the same mux as one of the 2 being recorded. Eg: if your recording channel 7 and abc1 at the same time, you can watch either 7two or 7mate or abc2/3/24 as they are part of the same data stream.

  • I'm sorry guys but you are wrong . I have worked for TiVo Australia/ New Zealand for one year and I must say I think I would know a little but more than the average Joe.

Now the TiVo does have two tuners but you can't record two channels and watch a third channel . You can record two channels at once but you need to be watching one at the same time it's does not have the function to watch a third channel. Also when you first purchase your TiVo you do need a Internet connection with out that yo

  • @SXSHOW If you actually listen to what's being said, you'll note that Chris states 'and watch a third that you've recorded prevously'. Admittedly, it's not the clearest definition, but it is correct. We know that the TiVo cannot let you watch or record three channels simultaneously, but thanks for taking the time to define the limits of a two-tuner setup.

  • The think i don't like about either is that you don't actually 'own' them. You cant get your recordings out and burn them to a DVD or store them on your computer, and you cant upgrade the hard drive yourself with a cheap consumer model.

  • @MasterGravitron Not entirely true - TiVo offers a $99 software tool called TiVo desktop which allows you to transfer recordings to your PC, transcode into portable formats or stream music and photos to your TV. It requires a pretty gutsy PC for transcoding, but the option is there.

  • @CHOICEaustralia That's good to here. Now if only the NZ version will let me skip ads altogether :-)
