I like Ashley's character -- both the good sides and bad. She has a strong distrust of the alien species working within the Normandy and in the Council, but you can't necessarily fault her for that. Humans are relatively new in the grand scheme of things -- to simply walk into this type of situation blind, where you have to place trust in the aliens around you, is something that only Shepard can do. His/her influence will eventually take effect in ME3 (my speculation). I saved her on Virmire.
She's hot but doesn't like aliens (she never came across to me as a hater), religious but down to earth, marine but also poet.
Whatever you think of her, Bioware has gotten very good at creating believably complex characters. I personally think she rocks... but her views on aliens is somewhat of a delima considering your situation both militarily and politically.
But hey, if Bioware made her perfect they would loose some of that believability in the character. She needs some flaws.

I never found Ashiley annoying despite having experienced lots of racism in real life. Ashiley has her reasons for 'not believing' aliens. She holds prejudices, but she is not a racist, especially when you look at real world examples of what 'Real' racists do.

I let Ash live since I convinced her not the hate Aliens but then she appeared in ME2 and now I currently am awaiting her reaction towards me being with Tali in ME3. Can't fucking wait that shit!
My favorite moment of torturing ashley emotionally was at the very beginning when you wake up on the normandy after the beacon is destroyed, and you tell that shes careless, and that she sucks at being a soldier. she gets those sad puppy dog eyes, then you talk to her later and piss her off, and shes like "the whole mission you've done nothing but question my competence!" and shepard responds "best way to stop that is to show me you're competent!"
Ashley: "I cannot rest from travel. I will drink life to the lees. All times I've enjoyed greatly have suffered greatly, both with those that loved..."
Shepard: "I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR DISINGENUOUS ASSERTIONS!"
For me it was between Liara, Tali, and Miranda. Man I love all 3. Well I choose Miranda when I'm renegade but for paragon it's Liara or Tali. Honestly I think Liara has the best romance out of all the romance options for male or female Shepard if you have downloaded and played the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC.
Wierd thing, though: While I'm not fond of Miranda, I really like the character of Morrigan from Dragon Age. Oddly ennough, those two have a lot of similarities. Except that Morrigan is funny, in a cynical kind of way.
@FlyingFocs I don't know... i liked miranda ass and found her strong and sexi( i don't get why people don't like her) and my second character **** her. I found that Jack was a little creature that actually had one of the worst childhood in the game( them both) and thought that wasn't the jerk everyone said. As for Ashley, i just love her xD. The only thing that she had( fear of aliens, FEAR, not hate) was erared with some talks, so...
@VICTORZITOSS People don't like Miranda for this reason: While Ashley is a dedicated soldier for a cause, and Jack is somewhat sympathetic, Miranda is, for the most part, self-centered. I mean, when she heard about Jack's childhood, all she could say was that Jack "was clearly a mistake."
@FlyingFocs Well, she was trying to convince Shepard that Cerberus is not so bad... Bioware's writers would have been reallly inconsistent if they had her saying: "You're right shepard... Cerberus is the worst but we try... blah blah blah...". And if you llok at it in the good way, it was a mistake, the whole operation was a mess( starting by using children)
Jack isn't unlikeable. She's honestly one of the deepest characters in the game. Give her a chance with the romance...wow did I ..did I just rhyme that?

TBH when I courted Jack, her story was really the only one that touched me and nearly brought a tear to my eye. Even with Miranda and having to live up to the expectations of everyone, even with Tali trying hard to fit in with Cerberus and come to terms with who one of her closest friends was working for, Jack lured the most sympathy out of me for any of the crew.
on my paragon i accidently had a relationship with ashley because i was always so nice to everyone, god damn, i hate her though, she got replaced without hesitation by Tali in ME2 ;D
Actually her family was treated poorly by humanity. Her grandfather was raked over the coals for surrendering to the Turians and saving human lives. So... you know. Her reasons aren't valid.

I never have been the mob mentality type, but i admit that ashely is not the most likeable of characters due to her views, even if by her stand point they understandable. I don't like Ashley too so most of the time she gets nuked (and no, it's not that she is a christian, I could care less). In ME2 I hate Jack and so... well, if you played ME2, you might know how that ends up. In both cases, if somebody loves this particular character here on YT, I have no problem. My advice is: leave others alone and they will leave you alone.
I don't deny that people have a right to dislike any character they particularly don't care for, but I believe there is a limit. I mean I didn't much like Miranda in Mass Effect 2, I'm not going to make a video about it and let hundreds of people chant out their hatred.

Wierd thing, though: While I'm not fond of Miranda, I really like the character of Morrigan from Dragon Age. Oddly ennough, those two have a lot of similarities. Except that Morrigan is funny, in a cynical kind of way.

@FlyingFocs I don't know... i liked miranda ass and found her strong and sexi( i don't get why people don't like her) and my second character **** her. I found that Jack was a little creature that actually had one of the worst childhood in the game( them both) and thought that wasn't the jerk everyone said. As for Ashley, i just love her xD. The only thing that she had( fear of aliens, FEAR, not hate) was erared with some talks, so...

@VICTORZITOSS People don't like Miranda for this reason: While Ashley is a dedicated soldier for a cause, and Jack is somewhat sympathetic, Miranda is, for the most part, self-centered. I mean, when she heard about Jack's childhood, all she could say was that Jack "was clearly a mistake."

@FlyingFocs Well, she was trying to convince Shepard that Cerberus is not so bad... Bioware's writers would have been reallly inconsistent if they had her saying: "You're right shepard... Cerberus is the worst but we try... blah blah blah...". And if you llok at it in the good way, it was a mistake, the whole operation was a mess( starting by using children)

@stoogemoedude Yeah, she's really not that bad. I mean, who wouldn't be like that if they had that crappy a childhood? I won't say that I like her as much as Tali, Garrus, or any of the other BioWare characters, but out of the human romantic options, she's probably the most sympathetic.

TBH when I courted Jack, her story was really the only one that touched me and nearly brought a tear to my eye. Even with Miranda and having to live up to the expectations of everyone, even with Tali trying hard to fit in with Cerberus and come to terms with who one of her closest friends was working for, Jack lured the most sympathy out of me for any of the crew.

You know, I usually have a pretty low opinion of the people who hate on Ashley from Mass Effect. Their hypocrisy (complaining that she's bigoted then berating her for believing in god) their awful spelling ("Raseist religos bich) their general inability to control their anger issue that borders on teenage angst (OMFG BITCH STFU) and their inability to leave well enough alone and shut up.
Thankfully this thread has shown me that I was... completely correct. There, I have now trolled the trolls.

I never have been the mob mentality type, but i admit that ashely is not the most likeable of characters due to her views, even if by her stand point they understandable. I myself probably, like most of humanity would share some if it had happened in reality. But this is fiction, and i do agree that taking it to extremes such as wishing due to a pile of pixles as a bit extreme. Mainly due to your choice of being able to kill her or not on virmire.

I don't like Ashley too so most of the time she gets nuked (and no, it's not that she is a christian, I could care less). In ME2 I hate Jack and so... well, if you played ME2, you might know how that ends up. In both cases, if somebody loves this particular character here on YT, I have no problem. My advice is: leave others alone and they will leave you alone.

I don't deny that people have a right to dislike any character they particularly don't care for, but I believe there is a limit. I mean I didn't much like Miranda in Mass Effect 2, I'm not going to make a video about it and let hundreds of people chant out their hatred.
I guess I just get annoyed, seeing it on every game related site. It makes me realize as an Ashley fan... I'm in a terrified minority.

@Vrex360 Plus I know I should leave well enough alone, but truth be told whenever I try to have a conversation about Ashley being my favorite female of Mass Effect, I'm always nervous that someone is going to flame me.
Hell on the Bioware social network someone made a thread for Ashley fans to get together, it got swamped by hate posts for the first four pages, and even after that the trolls popped up. I know I should try to avoid it more, but sometimes it's just hard to do.

(in the citadel, about a keeper: "ew, look at that bug thing over there!") but then again, many humans are ;-) , especially in real life.... and if someone likes Ashley why not let them like her ??? keep on liking her and just ignore the trolls and idiots, someone is always going to try to push their own opinion on you ;-) and it's good to like characters like Ashley, they need that so they become more tolerant (in real life, too). peace.
