When you plug in your headphones onto the microphone, can you hear the sound coming from a game or song or any type of sound through your headset while still hearing your voice? I think the term for it is, does it count as a monitor/sound output device?
I just took the foam cap from the box that goes on the base of the stand and set the microphone on that. It eliminated most of the hum from my laptop, which is 3 inches away. The most obvious solution is usually the first overlooked.
How does blue yeti compare with Samson G Track (which is a mono mike) for voice over recordings? Does the stereo feature in blue yeti make a big difference for voice overs? Which is better for voice overs?
THANK you for discussing about shock mount compatibility. I was liking the features a lot but the fact that you can't use it on a condenser mic clip/mount means you can't attach a shock mount, drives me away from it.
I was wondering if the blue yeti can sustain screaming and yelling without peeking? I'm currently casted in an online parody that requires me to scream and yell a lot of my lines, but my mic peeks badly when I get too loud, that or it echoes.
@narusasu On your current microphone do you have a compressor and limited set? You may just need to tweak the setting of your current microphone some and it'll save you the $150 in buying the yeti. Feel free to send me a message and I'll help you out getting your current microphone working for you to your needs.
@phonzeh That's correct, since this video has been shot they released the Radius as a shock mount. When the video was released no shock mount existed, and according to Blue's PR, they had no plans on designing one for the Yeti. I am good to see they changed their stance on that though.
This is a great review. I'd like to reiterate that the Yeti USB microphone is an outstanding choice for the audio enthusiast. The clarity and accuracy it provides is almost TOO accurate and that being the case, I must also agree that a well designed shock mount would push this epic mic over the edge of awesome into an abyss of near-perfection. The best we can do for now is build our own. We're all nerds here, right? So let's do what we do best and get it built ourselves! Let's share our designs.
How do you know that the noise is picked up by conduction that a shock mout would eliminte? Did you pick a pattern and orientation that could minimize the cross equipment contamination. It would have been nice to see you troublesoot this and see what is causing it.
Robert Rose over at the juciedLink channel "Rode VideoMic Tests - picking up noise/interference " shows how.
so say you want to record the video of playing and singing with an acoustic guitar and upload it on the computer....how do you sync the sound with the yeti together with the video on the video camera?
@nickfromCO You can easily do that with whatever video editing software you are using, it would just take a bit of moving the clips frame by frame to get it to sync up perfectly. I would suggest getting two microphones though, if you have the Yeti micing you or your guitar, the video audio will definitely suffer in comparison.
@Toyeboy89 I have not used the 2020, but I have heard great things about it. I would only recommend this mic for vocals if you have it on a mic stand to reduce the surface noise that you'll experience with this microphone.
@Toyeboy89 Might be a bit late but there is another microphone called the Editors Keys SL150 which is around the same price and I personally think is better. Just check it out if you haven't bought anything yet.
Sincerely I think this microphone doesn't performs great as people say. I mean, from this video I not impressed with quality, there's lot's of noise on the background. I have a Blue snowball and I can't notice any difference in terms of sound quality when using the cardioid mode. Can you recommend other USB mic for a better sound quality?
i just place the mic on a piece of carpet on the table/desk...i would think any piece of fabric with some substance (towel, carpet, etc etc) would absorb any surface noise problems...
hi man..nice review =] im suscribing but i need help umm i rap nd i would like to get e very good quality mic dat would work for what i do :).. so if u could tell me which would be the best mic for me i would appreciate it =] thanx
@1994edgarcuevas When it comes to microphones that suit your voice what I really recommend is find a local music store, I personally like guitar center, and just test out the mics in store. A lot of mics will look the same on paper but sound entirely different.
Whats your price range, also will you be using this just in a studio setting or will you want to use this for performances too?
@LetsTalkPC It's not an effect, I spent a weekend and built a turntable specifically for spinning product for reviews. If you want I can throw up a tutorial in a few days.
great mic i had mine for about a month and the usb connector on the bottom started to act up cause of how it is wired to the bottom and the wire gose out the back i talked to blue and they said they had had a report of this happening alot and they are going to fix it free

Blue DOES have a shock mount that supports the yeti now. I'm not sure how long it's been out, but it's on their website. It's called "The Radius".
