@letom82 LOL! actually there have been tax increases when commrade barry took office. Freedom of Speech : "Right, as stated in the 1st and 14th Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, to express information, ideas, and opinions FREE of government restrictions based on content."
1791, the First Amendment was ratified, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press."
If we let this happen, the internet WILL be next. I can see a revolution in our near future. Either made by the government or we the people.
"A higher calling..." .... MY GOSH THIS IS INSANITY !!!
What other higher calling could there be beyond freedom of speech!?!? What a freekin blow hard. I'm sick of politicians imposing their idea of "what's best for us" and regulating EVERYTHING. HANDS OFF you power hungry nut jobs!
"A truly sovereign nation is a nation made up of truly sovereign individuals".
I'm all for it so long as they hold MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, The NYT, SNL, The Daily Show, The View, Helen Thomas' corpse, Chris Matthews' leg and Bruce Springsteen to the same standard.
For every anti-Bush song that the Indigo girls belt out, they will have to produce one pro-bush ballad. Everytime Chris Matthews gets a chubby for Obama, he will be required to have impure thoughts about Eric Cantor.
Liberal shows simply are not as appealing as conservative ones. Why does the government have to legislate what people find entertaining? This is a very slippery slope here if this gets passed.
Fairness according to whom? That is the obvious question the radio guy should've asked.
The answer is fairness according to the FCC, a branch of the Federal Government.
I just hope that if this law is to be introduced, it will be introduced prior to laws that ban Americans from selling their property and leaving the country: I would hate to have to illegally immigrate into Mexico or Canada, jumping fences and dodging machine gun fire on the way.
A Higher level with more intelligence. I agree with this Senator. I've heard Jr. High School students with a better grasp of issues than what we have on talk radio now. Right now their (talk radio) mantra is the New York Post all-out lunacy, as if they didn't mean what they actually meant. If they think that they can get by with this; I'm sure that Obama , Eric Holder and a new FCC can handle them. Yes, keep it up. We are waiting.....
It doesn't matter how STUPID the commentator is. What concerns me is "WHO" is deciding what can and can't be said. Who decides what's "FAIR"? Freedom of speech is just that. Your freedom to make a statement on this video is the same as my freedom to refute it. If someone wants to print something "stupid" in a news paper or say something on the airways it's their freedom to do so. BUT, just because someone says something you don't agree with doesn't mean it should be silenced.
What putz this Senator is: He wants fairness on talk radio (except, of course, on leftist, Government-funded NPR). Moreover, he has no desire to enforce "fairness" on network and cable TV -- both of which lean left of center about 89% of the time. Why are network and cable TV exempt from this phony, contrived Democratic-Party-funded "fairness" jihad? With all due respect: You are a piece of .... work -- that's it - "work," Senator Bingaman!
What a hypocrite. They arent even being shy about themselves being brown shirts. I heard this for 8 years that the Bush administration is nothing but fascists and now we have this. All the democrats what to do is silent free thought and the debate of ideas. They only want their views on the airwaves.
Senator numb nuts that is what fuc%kin freedom is; the right to listen to whatever the * one wants to. "It seems to me" "It was more intelligent in those days" Give me a fu#king break; intelligent by whose standards; another way for the government to fu#k things up. I it not funny that these fuc* nards are for a womans right to choose but I can't choose what to listen to.
The Fairness Doctrine was used as a tool by both GOP and DEM administrations to harass media who were critical of their policies. Both Kennedy and Johnson used it ardently. Since turnabout is fair play, Nixon used it also. So it becomes a tit-for-tat depending on the party in power. With t e explosion of media today, I have a hard time believeing it would even be enforceable. Much less Constitutional.
Why should government get involved with what i can say on air? ( controling information kinda like "the right education" in russia)and why is it that dems. are the only one pushing this. Not about fair or not fair its about politics. "Freedom of speach not what YOU consider fair.....Anytime a politicion opens his or her mouth ask why and what for.too often it is for self benefit not for the ben. of the people. its sick ..but just think about these Questions too many people do not.
Very enlightening post. I suspect that there may be a civil war in our country's future: Some of us will not submit to tyrants like you without a fight.
However, I realize that you are either Canadian or British, because you spell "Labor" incorrectly (for an American), so I need not worry after all.
You Brits and Canadians are too busy laying down your freedom to appease the Islamists in your midst!
This infringes on freedom of speech. Who is this guy to tell radio talk show hosts what to talk about, or whose point of view to present? He's ignorant & evil
I can't believe the crap coming form liberals. How can they possibly defend this? It's so obvious, even from the libs posting on here that they support the "Censorship" Doctrine because they don't like the view points expressed on talk radio. I don't know where they're getting this "radio has a higher calling" garbage from either, I don't know why raido should be any more sanctified than the internet or television. Bottom line, it's all about control.
Consider that the first small breach in the liberal media behemoth came about only because Ronald Reagans FCC repealed the "Fairness Doctrine" in 1987. Funny how the "Fairness Doctrine" doesn't apply to TV, newspapers, magazines ot hollywood movies. Only on the radio is the government required to enforce fairness.
Radio Stations would have to start balancing 3 hours of Rush Limbaugh (20 million listeners) with 3 hours of Randi Rhodes (6) listeners.
I don't think Jeff Bingaman has thought it through. The Fairness Doctrine could come back to bite him in the ass, but then on the other hand, it might be cool to hear Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin on Pacifica and NPR Radio to present the other side.
The federal government has no right to tell anyone what to say, see the first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
It's funny how you think we're brainwashed, but you aren't. 15 talkshow host vs 100 liberal pundits; who has a more powerful voice? if you think Bill o reilly is a staunch conservative then that just shows how naive you are.
yea, pundit means a person who expresses opinion. So, that includes liberal pundits on television and on talk radio. No need to say basically say the same thing I did genius.
Well said!! We need the fairness doctrine because these right-wingers take their ORDERS from talk radio. Once it's shut down they'll be forced to think for themselves and accept progressive ideals!
You're a fucking idiot. We *can* form our own opinion - its *you* idiots who can't get people onto your side unless you make it all they can hear "AKA Fairness Doctrine". You guys are a fucking joke.
yeah, in what way do you think different from any other conservative? What is the difference between Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Glen beck? They are all the same. Liberals don't need to listen to a radio station to get his opinions hand fed to him/her. Being liberal means you have a free mind.
ok, that was really ignorant . Let's see, you do get your information from opinion shows just like we do don't you? I mean keith olbermann, hannity and colmes, and others. You have yet to prove why we can't form our opinion,by doing the exact same things that you do to get your opinion ;therefore, you are just another ignorant liberal. I am not even a republican. I am a libertarian
The only reason they want to silence conservative talk radio is because the liberal talk shows are sorry. If the Dems keep up this Communist behavior they will start a revolution that they will lose! I wish those ambulance chasers would look over the 1st amendment!
Ohh, how poorly informed you are. The Democrats ARE coming up with my arguments. I didn't think them up, I'm just spreading their solid arguments.

Even the ones that don't want the fairness doctrine still want some form of it, just under a different name. The internet isn't heavily regulated yet, but I hope it will be under "net neutrality" regulations!!
savetheinternet . com
Face it, you neocons are finished! Obama / Biden 2012!!
Ah ok, that makes more sense. Still though, I support regulating not just porn, but untruthful political speech, and balancing out the hate-inciting neo-con talk radio. Bring back the fairness doctrine!! Obama / Biden 2012!!
Yes they will!! Once the fairness doctrine, or something similar, is brought back there won't always be neo-cons on talk radio. So at some point they'll have nothing else to listen to but dems. So after Rush Limbaugh, will come Colmes, Franken or someone like that and a lot of people will simply not change the channel. Obama / Biden 2012!!
No, first amendment doesn't say anything about radio and EMF transmissions. Using the radio transmission is a privelege, companies PAY for it, ever heard of FCC Frequency auctions? You don't have a right to broadcast whatever you want! First amendment is just about speech, aka, talking, and newspapers as well since newspapers are not a public resource or interstate commerce. Obama 2012!!
So thats why Obama doesn't channel comments voicing dissent? Those right wing talk show hosts are using speech aka talking into a microphone that goes through airwaves then goes through peoples radios, so stop making up excuses.
Your ignorance is fucking remarkable. There are 10 liberal blogs for every conservative one, if the fairness docrine goes through, it wont be allowed to stop with radio, it will spread like a disease. Would you like your youtube deleted out of "fairness" because there are too many liberal ones, and that is where liberal fascist get "their orders." Be careful what you wish for. And for Obama in 2012, he has not done ANYTHING to deserve that endorsement. That is ignorance defined.
The point is to stop smears and lies!! That's what right wing talk radio is. My posts are not hate speech, so I'd be fine. And even if they did start going against political enemies (which they won't), I'd still be fine since I AGREE with the Democrats. Ulike right-wingnuts like you. Obama has shown the vision that this country needs, and the progressive ideals Americans are ready for, so he does deserve to get 2012. Then Biden in 2016!!
BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO!!! barack will solve all our problems by taking away our right to free speech, fucking joke. Personally now this is a strecth, but i do think Obama is to noble to approve this garbage.
Every heard of the 1st Ammendment?? These people are fascist pigs! Go ahead Commies and try it! We the People will revolt and you'll be out on your ass! We should try every one of them for treason!
1st Amendment doesn't apply to the radio. Radio spectrum is a limited commodity and you can't use it for whatever you like, it's auctioned off and therefore controlled by the government. Also, internet is inter-state commerce, so it can be regulated by the government as well. Anyway - it's too late, the Dems are in and you neo-cons are going to be SHUT DOWN!!
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA 1st amendment doesn't apply to radio? The first amendment protects all forms of speech. The internet is not regulated BTW. Ok lets look at what is regulated, porn. Porn is a thing that must people find morally obtuse. You find republican talk radio morally obtuse? I don't see anything wrong with them talking their views, hell i don't care what the dems even say. Lol its not like anybody is going to listen to the Dems anyway.
First of all I'm not a neo-con, you know what they say about assuming don't you? It makes an ass of you. The 1st Amendment covers all speech, other than something like shouting fire in a crowded theater. The airwaves do NOT belong to the govt. they belong to the PEOPLE. The govt. cannot and will not regulate the internet. Maybe you should spend a little more time reading the constitution and a little less time reading Castro's policy papers.
Ugh, you guys just wanted a Democrat in charge of us rather than a Republican. 1st amendment applies to radio, TV, internet, newspapers, magazines, everything. 8 years of Bush was bad enough. If Obama and the Dem congress does things the way you want, people will think the Bush years weren't so bad....
No one decides what is ACTUAL news, because no one decides the news. The news are events that happen and are then presented to us. The problem comes when the news is given a CONSERVATIVE spin or a LIBERAL spin, and what I mean by ACTUAL news is news that are effectively missing the spin, and are just presented with all angles examined.
So again to summarize, nobody decides the actual news just like nobody decides when the next Earthquake is going to hit San Francisco.
That is a stupid argument. Ask yourself why aren't the democrats coming up with your arguments? If it were valid they would be talking about it right? You are completey misinformed my friend
That is a stupid argument. Ask yourself why aren't the democrats coming up with your arguments? If it were valid they would be talking about it right? You are completey misinformed my friend
What a silly hick! I bet you think the judicial system is comprised of a bunch of fucking communists, for promoting fairness, right? Fire protection, law enforcement, postal service, and soon to be social medical care, all products of communism, right? The 14th Amendment? All communism.
Let the apes run wild, Jack, they'll sort themselves out...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Great posts. These right wing nutjobs are out of control, and they are driven to their racist anger by these very talk show hosts. Support Pelosi and the Dems on the fairness doctrine!!
So you don't want your talk shows, aka entertainment tarnished... Great! I couldn't agree more. I would hate to have to watch a comedy-action-horror flick with a chick-flick-sci-fi-western tinge to it, but news isn't entertainment.
News is your source for what the hell is happening in the world and if that is biased aka unbalanced, then it doesn't do us much good now does it?
What the Fairness Doctrine is going to do, is it's going to make too many people tell the fucking truth. LOL
"So you don't want your talk shows, aka entertainment tarnished... [blah blah blah], but news isn't entertainment."
Exactly. So why censor the "entertainment." That's what they want the fairness doctrine to apply to - talk radio (a.k.a. entertainment) and nothing more. No one is talking about it applying to the news. They're perfectly happy with the current left-leaning bias on virtually every "legitimate" news outlet in the world.
The airwaves belong to the American people. Licensees hold their FCC licenses based upon an agreement to act in the public interest. It's not entirely a matter of the "free market" when the means of production- the airwaves- are not privately held.
The only reason right wing talk dominates the airwaves is because those with a scintilla of intelligence are spending THEIR time more productively: reading, obtaining further education, and earning a living.
Wow,BenAligtor You sound like the a real communist-their oppression was always in the name of the people-even though, like you, they couldn't stand the people-they were to be controlled for their own good-very sanctimonious-again,like you.
We haven't had the Fairnes Doctrine in decades. We live in the information age. Every diverse view is out there and easily accessible. Even here on You Tube there are people pushing the belief that humanoid reptilians control the world.
This notion that the Fairness Doctrine is meant to educate the public with various viewpoints is bs. You are not kidding anyone and neither are the partisans in our government. This is about gov't controlling content, you know it and I know it.
Yeah,I could have done a better job grammatically on that one;but,I can string a sentence together;would you like to discuss it face to face sometime?
So then ABC, NBC, and CBS are getting new conservative, libertarian, and anarchist co-hosts???????
Intelligent radio?!
He really does believe conservatism is not the more intelligent choice and why AM radio is even still alive anymore. Rush saved AM radio and he wants to bring back Ira Fistel and Michael Jackson to their low ratings from the early 80s. Next Tim Lennox the black-banning host from WERC will be back in Birmingham. May God Forbid. I mean that literally Tim, you atheist pig.
How about we apply the fairness doctrine to music radio. Have all music radio stations present a balanced perspective of music. They should have to give equal time to Jazz, Rock, R&B, Rap, Metal, Folk, Classical, Opera, and many other styles of music.
Which radio station would be able to keep its audience with that mix of music?
It's called the free market. This guy just can't take the fact that Liberal radio always fails. Man on man. If Obama gets in, just get ready for this cause it's going to happen.
Liberal dip$hits cannot compete with ideas so they try to ban talk radio. The libs have tried AM talk radio and nobody wants to listen to those dip$hits!
Translation: They don't say what I want them to say. They are critical of me and must be silenced in the name of freedom.
Yeah, that's all about free speech. This guy is all that's wrong about big government.

If you're so liberal and open-minded, you should support, not oppose, the free exchange of ideas.
jd24717 3 years ago
The only reason they want to silence conservative talk radio is because the liberal talk shows are sorry. If the Dems keep up this Communist behavior they will start a revolution that they will lose! I wish those ambulance chasers would look over the 1st amendment!

Btw the way when i said porn i meant televison porn. Just so there is no distortion.
plantpanther 3 years ago
Ohh, how poorly informed you are. The Democrats ARE coming up with my arguments. I didn't think them up, I'm just spreading their solid arguments.

Even the ones that don't want the fairness doctrine still want some form of it, just under a different name. The internet isn't heavily regulated yet, but I hope it will be under "net neutrality" regulations!!

Face it, you neocons are finished! Obama / Biden 2012!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
That comment was meant for
imigrant00. My bad if i clicked reply on your comment but the one when i talked about the porn is directed to you
plantpanther 3 years ago
Ah ok, that makes more sense. Still though, I support regulating not just porn, but untruthful political speech, and balancing out the hate-inciting neo-con talk radio. Bring back the fairness doctrine!! Obama / Biden 2012!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
LOl no one is going to listen to the Dems. Have you ever heard of Air America?
plantpanther 3 years ago
Yes they will!! Once the fairness doctrine, or something similar, is brought back there won't always be neo-cons on talk radio. So at some point they'll have nothing else to listen to but dems. So after Rush Limbaugh, will come Colmes, Franken or someone like that and a lot of people will simply not change the channel. Obama / Biden 2012!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
They had that with Air America. People tuned in and quickly turned off the radio. There is a reason why liberal talk radio does not last.
plantpanther 3 years ago
Well, then they'll have to listen to nothing I guess. At least they won't be listening to right wing authoritarian hate-mongering racist drivel!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
Looks like Osamabinbiden wants to take away our 1st amendment.
Avatarblackwolf 3 years ago
No, first amendment doesn't say anything about radio and EMF transmissions. Using the radio transmission is a privelege, companies PAY for it, ever heard of FCC Frequency auctions? You don't have a right to broadcast whatever you want! First amendment is just about speech, aka, talking, and newspapers as well since newspapers are not a public resource or interstate commerce. Obama 2012!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
So thats why Obama doesn't channel comments voicing dissent? Those right wing talk show hosts are using speech aka talking into a microphone that goes through airwaves then goes through peoples radios, so stop making up excuses.
bittergunowner12 3 years ago
yeah talk radio=talking.
mchobo12 3 years ago
Your ignorance is fucking remarkable. There are 10 liberal blogs for every conservative one, if the fairness docrine goes through, it wont be allowed to stop with radio, it will spread like a disease. Would you like your youtube deleted out of "fairness" because there are too many liberal ones, and that is where liberal fascist get "their orders." Be careful what you wish for. And for Obama in 2012, he has not done ANYTHING to deserve that endorsement. That is ignorance defined.
poopstreek 3 years ago
The point is to stop smears and lies!! That's what right wing talk radio is. My posts are not hate speech, so I'd be fine. And even if they did start going against political enemies (which they won't), I'd still be fine since I AGREE with the Democrats. Ulike right-wingnuts like you. Obama has shown the vision that this country needs, and the progressive ideals Americans are ready for, so he does deserve to get 2012. Then Biden in 2016!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO!!! barack will solve all our problems by taking away our right to free speech, fucking joke. Personally now this is a strecth, but i do think Obama is to noble to approve this garbage.

Every heard of the 1st Ammendment?? These people are fascist pigs! Go ahead Commies and try it! We the People will revolt and you'll be out on your ass! We should try every one of them for treason!
TazT75 3 years ago
1st Amendment doesn't apply to the radio. Radio spectrum is a limited commodity and you can't use it for whatever you like, it's auctioned off and therefore controlled by the government. Also, internet is inter-state commerce, so it can be regulated by the government as well. Anyway - it's too late, the Dems are in and you neo-cons are going to be SHUT DOWN!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA 1st amendment doesn't apply to radio? The first amendment protects all forms of speech. The internet is not regulated BTW. Ok lets look at what is regulated, porn. Porn is a thing that must people find morally obtuse. You find republican talk radio morally obtuse? I don't see anything wrong with them talking their views, hell i don't care what the dems even say. Lol its not like anybody is going to listen to the Dems anyway.
plantpanther 3 years ago 4
First of all I'm not a neo-con, you know what they say about assuming don't you? It makes an ass of you. The 1st Amendment covers all speech, other than something like shouting fire in a crowded theater. The airwaves do NOT belong to the govt. they belong to the PEOPLE. The govt. cannot and will not regulate the internet. Maybe you should spend a little more time reading the constitution and a little less time reading Castro's policy papers.
TazT75 3 years ago

MY new president is YOUR new president too, and he is a MONUMENTAL upgrade to the previous piece of garbage we had in office.
"Law enforcement and the 14th Amendment have nothing to do with the freedom of speech."
No. They have to do with fairness, and they are social institutions, and by your definition "communist" institutions, right?
FYI no one is shutting anyone down, they are just forcing them to give you the ACTUAL news instead of corporate propaganda. Get your facts right!
imigrant00 3 years ago
That is a stupid argument. Ask yourself why aren't the democrats coming up with your arguments? If it were valid they would be talking about it right? You are completey misinformed my friend

blair9123 3 years ago
What a silly hick! I bet you think the judicial system is comprised of a bunch of fucking communists, for promoting fairness, right? Fire protection, law enforcement, postal service, and soon to be social medical care, all products of communism, right? The 14th Amendment? All communism.
Let the apes run wild, Jack, they'll sort themselves out...

Its not fairness dumbSHIT...its censorship.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Great posts. These right wing nutjobs are out of control, and they are driven to their racist anger by these very talk show hosts. Support Pelosi and the Dems on the fairness doctrine!!
ObamaBiden20082012 3 years ago
So you don't want your talk shows, aka entertainment tarnished... Great! I couldn't agree more. I would hate to have to watch a comedy-action-horror flick with a chick-flick-sci-fi-western tinge to it, but news isn't entertainment.
News is your source for what the hell is happening in the world and if that is biased aka unbalanced, then it doesn't do us much good now does it?
What the Fairness Doctrine is going to do, is it's going to make too many people tell the fucking truth. LOL
imigrant00 3 years ago

I "sound like the a real communist", huh?
Always fun trying to converse with a retard who can't string a simple sentence together. LOL

This is about gov't controlling content, you know it and I know it.
jrigeli 3 years ago

I mean that literally Tim, you atheist pig.

good idea - can't wait to get the anarchist viewpoint every night on cnn, abc, cbs, fox etc.
screw liberal and conservitive....we will now get the other sides views from nazi, anarchist, communist, islamic jihad, etc....

It just might be the same for talk radio too.
