im gona get one and i searched online and all but i could never get a clear answer on this... do u turn off the heat pad at night and let it drop or no
sand boas unlike other snakes are designed to live in sand. yes if you put something like a corn snake on sand it would impact the gut and get into the nasal cavities. i got my sand boas off someone who has bred them for over 20 years and he has always kept them on sand (calci sand) and has never had problems and neither have i or anyone else i know. you even said in your video they will wait "under sand for prey" they are adapted to live in sand
Yes but all I'm saying is if they digest it then it can cause impaction and other infections. When I was talking about them waiting under sand for prey, I was talking about their habits in the wild. Calci-sand is know as being very dangerous in the reptile community. If you use sand, use washed play sand.
Sand is very dusty and can get stuck in the snakes nasal cavity and cause infection. Also if a snake ingests sand, it will lead to impaction, which will then lead to death.
, you should not use aspen with sand boas, they can ingest it and it can do extensive damage to their internal organs, instead you should use a calcium based sand, its sold at most pet stores, and is fully digestible
Calcium based sand is not digestible at all. It is completely dangerous for reptiles and can cause impaction and other deadly infections. Sand can also can get into the snakes nasal cavity and cause infections there. The only way sand boas can ingest aspen is if it gets on the food while they're eating. What I do to prevent that is place a paper towels over the snakes substrate and then feed it so no aspen chips get on it. Calcium sand is one of the most dangerous reptile products.
Sand boa are able to close their naval cavities....so no sand gets in there, if it does then there was something wrong with the snake before hand. how they survive in the wild
They usually grow about 2-3 feet in length. A full grown ksb can be housed in a 10 or 15 gallon cage. Do not use sand because if they ingest sand, it can be very harmful. Use Aspen.
your size estimates were wrong in this video... males on average are around 15 to 18 inches and females can get from 28 to 30 inches. Also does your kenyan eat less during winter months cuz mines hasnt been eating for about a month in a half now....
great vid chris kenyans are awsome i looked up loads of care sheets and watched sum care vids so i tihnk if get i shouldn't hav any problems takeing care of 1 btw r you a member of reptile geeks if u r i'll send a friend invite

Trazor2k0 2 years ago
Cause in the wild the sand is a bunch of spheres, calci sand and repti sand are shaped like jigsaw peices.

yeah some snakes are know to refuse during the winter months. If your snake keeps it up, try feeding live (if you don't already).
