the audio at the beginning is an amazing additional touch. it gets to me every time, especially the background music. so sad. so horrifying. so haunting. Wonderful job!
Revolutionaires always want to get rid of the old regime and its people to have anyone to blame for the chaos and suffering that their revolution has created..same in France,Russia,Iran..after all this egalitarian crap and reign of terror, there is the directoire wher the newly rich prostitutes like Barras,Tayllerand,Bonnaparte,Murat and others take power and in the end create a new monarchy with megalomanic and roman influences..Napoleon I and the empire style..so much for revolution.
Thanks to rectify it.
Terrible that the King died what an act of cruelty. King's are not bad some are, just like some Presidents. But most are good and want the best for their people. Louis XVI did not need to die.
I think that this will fit well with Anne Bolyen and Henry the 8th because she was an inncoent girl and Henry was a cruel man who didn't care for her.
Willibuster please refrain from confirming you idiocy in front of Monarchists. Nothing Louis could do could stop the revolution. His grandfather Louis XV of france was the king who plunged the country into dispair. by the time Louis XVI was crowned it was too late. He didn't have a chance to pull the country back to its former glory before the mobs comitted treason by assasinating thier god appointed king.
@Pugwash81 Yes so true, I don't knew if you like Japanese manga, but I saw a japan anime name ''The Rose of Versailles'', it's about French revolution, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and lady oscar, it was based on true history event and you can watch the 40 episodes of this comics.
it's wonderful manga about History of France. the best ever. but so sad in the end....
you can see this video : watch?v=EiSGV-tuNsE&feature=related
I love this video. Its the best Ive seen that shows Louis as a noble loving person. wronged by the people of france. Please make more. also does this movie come with english subtitles? RIP Louis the martyr king. Vive la roi!!!
In the 2006 movie, did King Louis and Marie Antoinette start to love each other towards the middle and end of the movie? I remember in the beginning, it was more like their marriage was arranged and they were forced to love each other. Did they both eventually love each other?
@willlibuster Louis XVI tried to make new laws but wasn't very obeyed by his ministers. Blame them but not that man who just wished to do his best for the sake of his kingdom. When people were starving in 1775, he ordered bakers to make bread less espensive. That is just an exemple. He was not a bad guy. He had to resolve problems which already existed during Louis XV's time.
Very nice! Louis was a very good man that did not deserve what happened to him. The Revolution and Reign of Terror were far worse than anything l'ancien regime could do. Many, many people died for nothing.
@yespeed -> Merci beaucoup.
