  • We need more Midwest progressives in this country. This kind of populist rhetoric takes root here and it seems like "we" (the Left) have talked ourselves into believing that we have to continually move right to gain political clout.

  • You said it. Wish he were a little bit younger.

  • Byron Dorgan for President 2012!

  • A year later, this is still so chilling to listen too.

  • The likes of Sen. Dorgan are disappearing from congress, and being replaced by pro-corporate whores in both parties.

  • @pointybongo: Amen! But of course there will be a lot of clowns diagreeing with you.

  • mediblue9: Dorgan's not perfect, either... not by a long shot. But still, better than most of them.

If we don't get money out of politics, and soon, we're all toast: the US will be just another 3rd-world country, with a small elite running & owning everything, a huge mass of poor people--- and no middle class.

  • @pointybongo: That's seems to be the case often. I guess the decient politicians need to ppick their battles

  • @pointybongo

and dennis kucinich has also sold out thanks to his support for obamacare.

  • Wow this guy got it right almost ten years ago down to the "too big to fail" doctrine. Sure wish the Congress back then would have listened to him.

  • I hope this guy is still in Congress but I would bet he is not, to truthful to be relected.

  • @0788sinbad He still is, but he's retiring at the end of his term in January 2011.

  • Right you were and still are Senator!

  • What happened to these REAL Democrats?

  • I am from India this is a real senator with ethics and restore fate in democracy and so this was the era of Clinton so called Right way which move to republican Deregulation culture

  • @flanksteak1 either they are fucking pussies or they are corporate whores.

  • Everyone needs to see this, especially those on Foxnews who blame everything on Barney Frank.

  • Yup, this is prophetic. It's sad how right some people can be but still get silenced because of right-ring political dogma.

  • I wish we had more voices of reason like Byron Dorgan in the US Senate.

  • More people should be watching this type of stuff rather than the singer or cat du jour. I just found out about Dorgan 2 days ago. Very prophetic in what he was saying. Such a shame we don't have more intelligence in the Senate or Congress. Intelligence and integrity existing in either is an oxymoron.

  • What a foresight this man had. I never knew about this man until now. This guy certainly has all the right to say, "I told you so!" and directly towards Rush Limbaugh.

Besides put the regulation on the banking industry, the most important move the government needs to make is to regulate the lobbying industry.

Banking, health care provider, oil, pharmaceutical, telecom, and food industry, just to name a few.

  • Too big too fail = no fault capitalism

  • no its called fascism.

  • Everyone needs to watch this.

  • 2:55

Holy cow! How many times did we hear this this past September? The banks are "too big to fail".

Byron Dorgan just gained a wealth of my respect here by predicting the financial future of this country due to the Gramm-leach-bliley act in 1999.

it is amazing how tmuch power the banks and the federal reserve have over our government. They are the shadow government who really "control" power and policy.

  • Please, does anybody know the date of this?

  • This video was recorded by CSPAN around

November of 1999. Dorgan failed to pass

amendments and was voted down by majorities in both parties.
