My grandmother was deported from Lodz to Chelmno with two of her children on the 11th of September 1942 according to the JewishGen database. Her name was Chaya Yelen and her childrens' names were Moshe and Zissel Esther. Further according to that website, the victims were generally killed on the same or next day which means that my family was killed on the eve of or on Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year).
This was one of the largest deportation actions that took place. However there are records of those deported from the Lodz ghetto which are comparitively thorough. I cannot remember now how much information there is for the 11 Sept. deportation but the Jewish Gen database tends to be thorough, I even met the family of the pre war neighbours of my former partner through it.
I am not certain of the details in this case but in September 1942 it is possible that they were taken by train to Koło and then changed onto the narrow gauge railway line to Chelmno.
I suspect (but am not certain) that the victims were taken from the train to the manor house in groups of around 100 in order to be murdered.
I will shortly be publishing more information on this camp.
ugh, how can people still bear to live in a place with this level of historical pollution? It's got to be corrosive.

Wow. Such a quiet and unassuming little corner of the world. Its hard to imagine what went on in this area during Nazi occupation.
