SPOILERS!!!

Once Kefka destroys the planet Celes takes care of her grandfather Cid. But soon after he dies. She attempts suicide thinking that everyone is dead and that there is nothing to live for. But she survives. Then a bird appears that has Locke's headband tied around it. She realizes Locke is alive, and regains the will to help her friends.

It sounds cliche, but trust me, it's way more emotional in the game.

@cb52211 Course if you know EXACTLY how things work, you can keep Cid alive. He then lets her leave the island by herself. (Maybe death is "nicer", I mean he'll be stuck on that island for the rest of his live and probably go crazy)

@CatMuto Yeah. One time I saved Cid, but it's sort of lame. Instead of a heart-wrenching scene, we get a, "Locke's still alive so take this raft and leave." It's sad to see him die, but it's way better for the plot.

I remember playing this game on it's original release date, and was floored. 

This scene made video game History by the way, and changed JRPG's forever. Ever since this nearly every Final Fantasy has had SOME sort of music element fitted into the game, be it a musical character or just having a pop ending song.

And so, here I am a 27 year old man getting teary eye'd for a scene in a game I played over 14 years ago or so and just can't help but smile, because this scene is truly special.
