You can just model your house in Google Sketcup which is 1000x faster, easier and the result will be better and then you import it in cinema 4d for your animation purposes.
@19ToMaS20 Please try saving onto the root of your C:\ drive, or in a new folder on your C:\ drive. It might be there is some kind of permissions problem with the file on your desktop., i.e. CINEMA 4D is unable to overwrite the existing file.
i have a question at 7:30 u are talking about welding. when you say there is a way you can do both select and welding, which key do you say is it the "9 key?" because it does not work for me. please if there is another way for easy select and weld like you explain please let me know thank you
@GanjaBeard510 Does this work for you? Make sure you have a polygon object selected in the object manager, make sure the points tool is selected in the left toolbar, then move the cursor inside the perspective view.
Hold down the number '9' key and keep it held down while you drag over some points. This should select the points you drag over.
Holding down '9' activates the Live Selection tool temporarily, as soon as you let go of '9', you revert to the tool you used just before.
Hey i have Cinema4D i am 64bit and when i open it its just a blank grey box in the picture view square thing and i dont know how to fix it can anybody inbox me with an answer ??
@kizza1309 Hold down CTRL + SHIFT while CINEMA 4D starts and keep them held down until
the splash screen disappears. This will reset shading to Software Mode, i.e. it will switch off OpenGL.
If it works fine in Software Shading mode, it looks like a problem with OpenGL. In that case make sure your OS is up to date and try updating your graphics card drivers.
If you still have problems, please contact our tech support, see the Maxon website for details.
@FusionJet1 Each grid on the floor is 100 m wide by default, so in the video the house is 400 m wide.
You can customize the grid settings though. Some people like to work completely to scale in CINEMA 4D, which you can do, some people tend to not worry about real world scale, it depends on how you work. The video is mainly about starting to use the poly tools rather than modeling to scale, so it's not covered here.
@howtotutorials101 CINEMA 4D is the easiest to use professional 3D software, with modeling, rendering, painting and animation tools. You can do most things 3D: VFX, motion graphics, product viz, arch. viz, medical animation, print, web.
MAXON products have been used for and in The Golden Compass, Beowulf, the Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean films, FOX, NBC, CBS, ABC, HBO, CNN, BBC, MTV, ESPN, CMT, Comedy Central, TMZ, NFL, HGTV, USA Network, and many others.
Yes running the latest version and have completely reinstalled. However the problem persists and I've realized this problem is affecting my left mouse click as well. This happens only after I've gone to objects and created a polygon or made a polygon editable. Right clicking still defaulting to the rotate tool and none of my transform functions become available (i.e. extrude, bevel etc.)
If anything this is just a heads up that something is strange in the program, thanks for your help though.
@shapeshiftmedia Perhaps a grapphics problem. Try going to prefs (ctrl + E) and change display shading to software. If that doesn't fix it contact your local maxon..
My modeling axis is defaulted to "free" and whenever I choose "selected" it changes itself back. Everytime I right click in the viewport it automatically defaults to rotate. HELP!!!
anybody here knows why can't i right click anymore ? anywhere i do that in cinema 4d, nothing happens, also when i try to drag some object like a cube or smth, i can't, instead of that zoom happens .. yesterday it was all good and i did nothing special
Ive been using Blender 3D and have become quite adept in it. I'm now learning some Cinema 4D because its the program my school uses, does anyone have any ideas in which is better? or any ideas on similarities.
Cinema 4D is easier to learn, it doesn't have a game engine like Blender but Cinema 4D is widely used on the motion graphic industry (TV intro, credits, ads...). That's all I know. ;)
Not sure. Seems to work for everyone else :) Possibly anOpen GL glitch on your system. Try going into prefs (edit/prefs) and turning shading to software in viewport options. If it's not that then I don't know. Sorry!
@CharlesNilsson Not sure what the problem is. Can you see an object called "Polygon" in Object manager? (right window).
If yes please go to the Perspective view, make sure "Polygon" is selected in the Object manager, then from the perspective vierw's menu, choose Edit > Frame Active Objects.

his polygon on C4D R12 is 1.44M if its 144 its above and off the grid

@EpicHawk Yes, you might see an extra command or so on the various menus in R12 but the tools used are the same.

c4d has alot less shortcuts and alot more buttons tho :D which is good for learning

i love cinema 4d so much. without a doubt it is superior to 3ds Max. so much simpler use and easier to use. easily beats autoCAD's 3D usefulness too!
