  • My GOD do I love this song.

  • Shut up and enjoy the music!

  • @japsocute: I AM enjoying the song. That doesn't mean I can't do some character comparisons on the side. That's fun too.

  • I always called this John's main theme for some reason.

  • Let the Dr. Who/Homestuck comparisons begin!

    John= Rory Williams

    Terezi= River Song

    Sollux= Tenth Doctor

    WV= Eleventh Doctor

    Sober!Gamzee= The Master

    PM= Amy Pond

    Dave= Captain Jack

  • @MarshmallowRadiation

Can you explain your reasoning? Because it seems to me none of these parallels match up, in either role or personality.

  • @Krazyboutfood John is somewhat bumbling but has his crowning moments of awesome. Terezi is witty, content despite being in a less-than-preferable situation (blind/imprisoned), and enjoys causing a bit of chaos now and then. Sollux is bipolar. WV is just silly. Gamzee, when sober, is a twisted, sadistic egomaniac. PM cares about the people around her and is willing to sacrifice everything for them. I should have put Dirk instead of Dave as Cap'n Jack, but we hadn't met him yet.

  • @MarshmallowRadiation

John takes center stage in being the "hero" and accepts the role wholly, is extroverted and openly goofy, unlike Rory, who is more awkward and introverted, with surprising bursts of badassery. Also, John is not/has not been pining for anyone (non-celebrity) ever. I agree with Terezi and River in terms of personality, but their background, and motives for helping the Doctor/Dave aren't alike at all.

  • @MarshmallowRadiation

The Tenth Doctor is cheery, and becomes more depressed through his life. That's not bipolar. That's just reacting to the tragedies that happen to him.

As with John/Rory, Sollux is introverted and sort of hostile/sarcastic in his speech, and beats himself down constantly about even his own ability. Ten is extremely outgoing and friendly, and needs companions to keep his ego in check. (Water of Mars)

  • @MarshmallowRadiation

"Silly?" That's IT? You couldn't have considered WV's courage or leadership skills in leading a rebellion consisting of both Prospitians and Dersites? Nor his intellect or initially crass/later ridiculously posh nature? Nor his hatrid of Tyranny/Social injustice?

  • @MarshmallowRadiation Personality wise, Eleven is much more well-balanced and agreeable. He also has a way of bringing people together, but has yet to be tested in a situation where he needed to lead such a large group into uprising. (A Good Man Goes to War was more of a rescue mission)

  • @MarshmallowRadiation Gamzee isn't as refined as any of the Masters, and does not have the ability to act as compellingly as Saxon does to fool everyone. He drops some pretty obvious hints to his intent.

Gamzee also has more of a sense of duty. He's basically doing what he was meant to do in troll society. The Master was driven insane by his head, and acted more out of scorn. Lastly, Gamzee has no one he considers a rival. The Master has the Doctor.

  • @MarshmallowRadiation PM is also duty bound. To Liberty. Reason. Justice. Civility. Edification. Perfection. MAIL.

Amy shows no sign of appreciation for civil duty. She works as a Kissogram, so why does she need to? She shows dedication to Rory, but in a romantic way. PM, though with many suitors, is only interested in doing her job. Though attractive, she isn't flirty or intentionally charming. PM is dependable. Amy is dependant, most of the time. Of the Doctor, of Rory.

  • @MarshmallowRadiation

Dave isn't a charismatic omnisexual leader. He's the one with the self esteem issues, who professed to working in the background while everyone else got to be the hero. I suppose they are alike in terms of timey-wimey shenanigans, but in role and personality? eh. They both look up to someone though. Dave to Bro, Jack to the Doctor. We all met Dirk a month ago. How caught up are you?

  • @Krazyboutfood chill out n' enjoy the music, mi amigo~ no need to be too caught up :>

  • I love homestuck, and I want to see this song on Doctor Who just once

  • Can i just... love this song forever? ;u; <3

  • So I just finished my remix of this. Go to my channel and Czech it out :)

  • He has a theme starting with Doctor. He is associated with the color blue. He is somes referred to as a wind (breath or storm). One of his closest friends is named Rose. He can escape being erased from time.

Who is he, John Egbert... or Doctor Who?

  • @Beriorn He occasionally goes by the name "John".

(Of course, at least one of their names actually is John)

  • @Beriorn His other two close friends are space and time travel experts, he can somehow understand alien speech, he's one of the last of his species, he has friends and followers on various planets, he has experience with crazy technology, he's reffered to himself as a planet doctor... my God, you're right.

I suppose this makes Dave Captain Jack Harkness.

  • @Beriorn He can regenerate even after dying from being shot/stabbed, has been involved in a number of time paradoxes, he has lost his family after a war, and who can forget how gosh darn adorable he is?! :)

  • @KittyKatttx3333 John can only "regenerates" once. He has to die on his quest bed, and be replaced by his Dreamself, which is another copy of himself/extra life, not some random new face. Then he becomes immortal and gets windy powers. The Doctor can die anywhere, anytime and for any reason. Then he can die all over again twelve times until it's permanent. He isn't even the same person afterwards.

  • @KittyKatttx3333 Mr Egbert didn't die of the Prospitian/Dersite war. It was over by then. He died on Skaia, sure, but he was stabbed by Bec Noir in the middle of a date. Nanna was killed by the meteor carrying John.

  • @Beriorn It's "The Doctor".

  • I'm a girl and got a boner from this

  • i dont understand where that one dislike came from.

  • This song is going on my writing playlist.

  • Planet Healer is amazing

Savior of the Waking World is even more amazing

Doctor= The most amazing thing anyone's ears have ever had the privilege of experiencing

  • Who was the original composer of this song?

  • Fifteen minute remix plox? C:

  • HOW MANY FUCKING REMIXES OF THIS ARE THERE?

  • @5minlatecomebacks There's about to be another :U

  • @5minlatecomebacks not enough

  • I love this song! It was playing in my head when I was camping this weekend and I woke up to the beautiful woods in the freezing cold.

  • The doctor's got to cure the cancer huh?

  • This reminds me of Ace Attorney music for some reason

  • >John's theme is Doctor

    >One of the title's The Doctor from Doctor Who has is The Oncoming Storm

    >John is The Doctor

    oh

    oh shit

  • @sonicman21 fuck

    shit

    oh shit

    oh god oh god

  • @sonicman21 Doctor isn't John's theme. It's LOWAS's theme.

  • @CSDragon31 Eh. Details.

  • Dude. I -wrote- this song and still can't believe how many people love it.

  • @gbuzinkai you are wonderful example of a human being and I hope good things happen to you for writing this song

  • @gundersonmunderson Stop humaning the poor guy.

  • @gbuzinkai Thank you for composing one of my favorite tracks of all-time! I'm not even exaggerating here.

  • @gbuzinkai I read homestuck (or at least almost read it all from the begining) in like 3 days... and this song and all its variations were one of the most awesome things I loved. Its... simply beautiful man, well done ;)

  • @gbuzinkai this song is absolutely wonderful. You put your heart into its creation and we can feel it. :')

  • @gbuzinkai I love this song an incredible amount, and all of its reiterations in the comic so far. It makes me smile every single time I hear it. Thank you for putting so much heart into it and its shiny, starlike melody. It's amazing.

  • @gbuzinkai whoa really? great job man! i mean, jesus you are awesome keep doing what you are doing blah blah

  • @gbuzinkai Easily the best song in Homestuck. Great job man.

  • This (and its remixes) pretty much occupy one slot in my top 5 favourite homestuck tunes.

That's top five favourite amongst all the tunes in the series.

    ALL OF THEM.

  • @gbuzinkai Dude when I heard the version used in Cascade i was just ohshitohshitohshit

  • @gbuzinkai You're awesome. You rock.

  • @gbuzinkai Congratulations!!! I love it. Best wishes

  • @gbuzinkai Telling you as a member of the mid-to-older end of the Homestuck fandom demographic, your track inspires truckloads of gamer nostalgia. A+ job.

  • @gbuzinkai

It's my favorite Homestuck song! :D

  • Listening to this, I am also reminded of The Doctor, for some vague and bizarre reason.

  • I just can't really explain how I feel when I hear this song. It's so amazing, I just can't really speak any words to truly express my feelings about this song. It just has some soul bending effect on me.

  • I feel personally offended that someone disliked this. This is like my favourite song in Homestuck

  • After stupidly roaming around the Land of Wind and Shade for an hour, I still remember this xD And that was looooong ago

  • This vaguely reminds me of the castle crashers music.

  • The people that disliked this video... oh wait, there are none.

  • To anyone starting Homestuck that makes it to the premiere of this song: I hope you like it, because you're going to be hearing variations on it A LOT.

  • Doctor P needs to do a remix of this, with Dr. Dre too, and some other doctors.

  • ==> too many doctors in the house

  • this is so beautiful :3 I'd love to take a night stroll while listening to this c:

  • Somehow I think this is slightly better than Savior of the waking world because it contains more ambiance.

  • this song has been the background music to so many of my awesome and most vivid dreams lately, it's fucking perfect.

  • This is one of the greatest songs from the Homestuck albums. Not only is it a great song in itself, but it has also been the root many great remixes.

  • Why am I reminded of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? ;D

This song is so awesome, tears, just tears.

  • This song gives me chills.

  • I like that Moon Song from Cave Story is listed in the related videos. They do kind of remind me of each other.

  • I fucking love the bass to this song. To all HS songs. For some reason, they all have a fucking amazing bass.

  • Funny thing is, if you focus on the choir, it'd essentially a remix of part of the Final Boss music from Bowser's Inside Story.

  • @Trogdorbad Isn't Homestuck older than Bowser's Inside Story? That would make the Final Boss song from BIS a remix of this, then.

  • @EpilepticFoliage

Actually, no. Bowser's Inside Story was released in February of 2009 in Japan, whereas Homestuck didn't start until April of '09.

  • @Trogdorbad It precisely started on 4/13.

And I said that just for the recurring number of 413.

  • I saw Cave Story's Moon Song in the related for this, and then played them side by side.

    Actually worked surprisingly well

  • This track is absolutely gorgeous.

  • Cave Stuck would be awesome...

  • The end of the song makes me want to cry a little...

It's so beautiful. The composers are extremely talented.

  • Ah, the Land of Wind and Shade. It's music is totally awesome, right?

  • the universe is sick and deteriorating, John Egbert is the cure that will save it

  • Aside from the awesome story, I want to never see MSPA end, just so I can have the pleasure of listening to more masterpieces like this one.

  • god bless mspaintadventures

  • this and three in the morning (casion remix) are the best songs on voume 4 in my opinion.

  • This one reminded me of the music from Spelunky.

  • @Errickfoxy It should; it's the same composer.

  • @AgentParsec Oh, cool, how didn't I know that?

  • You know, it kind of sounds like the cross examination music from Phoenix Wright, at least in the first bit.

  • This music, and the LOWAS interactive flash stage, brought back memories of Earthbound.

  • MEDIC!

  • I remember when act 4 first started... I was enthralled by this enchanting music track...

    good times...

  • So this song reminds people of Starcraft, Super Mario RPG, AND Cave Story? So awesome!

I love this song too! I spent such a long time on its page just to listen to it! But the fact that it was an awesome page to begin with may have had something to do with it...

Homestuck is just so awesome, especially for a webcomic!

  • It reminds me for some reason of the music from Star Hill in Mario RPG. Probably my favorite of them all.

  • This kinda reminds me of the twilight mapset in starcraft.

  • Now I remember what this reminded me of, it's the Outer Wall music from Cave Story (Moonsong) :D

  • @Bayc0n Huh, some of Aquaria's music, actually comes to mind for me..

  • @SPI014 Aquaria? I've thought of the Aquaria soundtrack so much while listening to What Pumpkin music!!

  • @SPI014 Listen to Chartreuse Rewind from The Felt, it sounds like a never released song from the Aquaria soundtrack.

  • @Bayc0n ...Cavestuck would be the best thing.

  • @Bayc0n

    CAVE STORY FFFF. C:

  • @Bayc0n You gave me the idea to make a video of the outer wall, with this song. :3

  • @Goatmon

Awesome, I can't wait to see it.

oh no, now everyone knows who I am

  • @Turnips5 The video was already made when I said that, actually.

  • @Goatmon

oh yeah, so it is. I was looking for it under MSPA stuff previously, haha. very nice!

  • @Bayc0n It actually sounds like moonsong backwards.

    Maybe it's just me.

  • @Bayc0n Dokutsu and Homestuck? I love you bro

  • Volume 4 is full of amazing songs. I really like this one, it's kind of explorative, but almost fearful at the same time.

I've said a million times that Andrew Hussie is a genius, but for some reason I tend to forget to praise the artists for this awesome music.

  • @Bayc0n We really should try to remember that Andrew could never have done this without a lot of help from the musicians and artists that worked with him on this.

He's a brilliant storyteller in his own right, but he's only one man. :P

  • @Bayc0n I agree on all counts, Bayc0n. Volume 4 is packed with win after win after win. And this melancholy melody perfectly suits a dark and mysterious world like the Land of Wind and Shade.

  • @Bayc0n Hussie needs to write a screenplay and use the same crowd-sourcing techniques he's using on Homestuck for the art/music/etc.
