@bigfoot6433 generally speaking its more the fact that in a high concentration of liquid, example: in the tank of the car, it wont combust. Thats why the engine atomizes the fuel it uses before trying to ignite it, making it highly flammable and explosive.

I know a couple cars that have had lightning strikes that messed with electronics, not saying the lightning went clear around though or where it hit(radio antennae maybe?)
