@MrRetiredOfficer to be fair to fletch he did play some pretty heavy handed basslines and kept the time before midi. I've tried playing along. the lines are simple but extremely fast and staccato. credit to his hands for keeping this up for a whole concert really.
alan's a trained musician when he joined DM. and i like how they looked here. i can almost kiss my monitor everytime i see martin! wow, the all looked so handsome
Yeh, Alan indeed is a good pianist. Sad, he did not have much chance to show his talents. Even in Recoil he's been preoccupied more with technology and sound side than performing.
This is why Depeche Mode are still going strong, they're so down to earth. On a another note, was Alan Wilder off camera playing against Fletch and Martin at ping pong, i mean i know he's good on keyboards but thats taking the piss! lol
Wow, Alan can play two different melodies simultaneously. Not just bass parts with left hand and lead with right one but a lead part with each one! Great performer!!
@blapo38 well, i read somewhere that he was a little confused about how easily he got the job originally - stuff like playing a bass part and lead part simultaneously would be pretty basic to a trained pianist like alan
@facrp This could be from early 1983. GTBR was released in Jan 1983, at around which time they were on the ABF tour. Alan had joined and was touring with the band by this time. CTA was recorded and released later that year.
@q89747 You're right! I missed the "new single called GTBR out now on Mute" which means that Alan was now officially part of the band line-up in deed.

Actually, the band looks sharp as a razor here and Dave's dancing is perfect. They sound absolutely amazing! This show is actually from late 1982 and at this point the band is starting to carve their own unique niche into the genre of electronica.
Merci pour la vidéo. :) J'aime beaucoup Fletch au début quand il essaie de décrire le clip et là ils mettent une autre balle en jeu et il fait:" Attendez, une autre balle. Ça devient vraiment compliqué maintenant." =D
ALAN WILDER IS GOD! ♥♥♥

just about the music player you guys referring to, is as important as those guys themselves. where do you think the drums come from ?
that's their "artificial" drum machine.
they have been attacked by critics for this type of drums all the time, but it was easier and cheaper for them this way :)

@icexpace i always had that question myself ..like who is playing the drums
