to kcham16, A lot of years ago, i rode the one I think you are talking about, Lemmon Rocks lookout trail, and yes, after I rode it I found out that it wasn't open to bikes. it drains out through Romero Canyon, Esperero Canyon and then into Sabino Canyon, which you have to time perfectly as they don't allow bikes before 5 pm, long hard ride, but the best ride I have ever done. By the way, Evanescence was perfect!

Man, that is lame to hear. In the early '90's me and my buddies would ride up from the parking lot to the radio towers, then ride the main trail down (where the ski lift lets off for hikers in the summer). Is that really closed to bikes? If so, that sucks, because that trail was a lot of fun- switchbacks and all!

are you talking about the aspen draw trail? that's still ridable, but there's lots of hikers

i was just up there today. i looked for the trail and couldnt find it. its such a mess where the trail should be. so many knocked over trees and stuff. i thought i found what used to be it but it was just a little section,maybe 20 feet long. im pretty sure the trail is gone now. its too bad the forest service has to be gay.

It was probably around this time last year. The FS says the area is wilderness and that there is an endagered species habitat that runs through there, but good luck finding a sign or a map that says so.

That is really lame. Sorry to hear man. That trail is less then a mile from cabins, so stupid. Any idea what the endangered species is?

@KeepOnRollinFilms I think they said it was the Mexican spotted owl or something like that. It was probably mostly BS but I had a lot going on at the time so i didn't really fight it. They told me the endangered species thing was punishable by up to a year in prison or $100 grand in fines, but they dropped that. I'm over it now but I would hate to see any one else get stuck like that. Rumor has it the new owner of ski valley is a cyclist and is open to the idea of bikes on the lift.

The reason it probably looks like some one trashed it is because it was an illegal trail. Don't get caught out there because it cost me $500 and I only ever rode it once. Its pretty muess up when the forest service calls you up to have a word and next thing you know they are trying to make "deals" with you.
