  • Nice distorted tone. It doesn't seem quite as flabby as the usual rectifier tone and more articulate. That overwhelmingly bass oriented tone that turns to mush so easily is what scares me off from Mesa Boogie Rectifiers of any sort, and the Mark series is too expensive for my budget...(unless I get a second job).

  • does the gigrig allow channel/effect switching on the trem-o-verb?

  • Hey man, i was wondering how you liked the tone of the tremoverb compared to the mark V, and roadster amps. Is the tremoverb pretty similar to the rectifier/roadster series?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey man i just got a Trem-o-verb the other day and was just wondering what kind of tremo is yours is it a 90's model or a reissue? and what tubes to you have in your head?

  • I'm getting annoyed by guys who can work two jobs , dont spend on drugs and drinks and save money for gear. Why !!...At least you have no time for proper practice :D

  • Hey,

I have just bought a 7 string Les Paul and was wondering what pick ups you have in yours?

  • Hey mate sounds awesome. I want this amp.

  • ow shit mother fuck this colection is very amzing i shit pants ^^

  • Great video..

I'm looking for the same guitar U have, but it seems really expensive compared to a regular Epi...1.000$ is way too much!

Can I ask you how much did U pay for that?

    Thx!

  • Too many pedals. you clicked that thing on and your tone got sucked down the toilet. All i run through my Mesa Tremo is a BB preamp on the the front end and a TC Nova delay through the loop. Gives that nice, spongy, elastic tone, airy and wide open. Keep it simple. Tremos can be a little harsh because Randall Smith designed them as more of a blues amp. I find the modern high setting to be too compressed, more so as you crank it, but the clean and vintage are workable

  • Tone Heaven.

  • I loved my Trem-o-verb. I traded it for a Lonestar Special, but I'm thinking about buying a used one (head). Great video, and don't sweat the haters just because you actually work, go to school and are contributing to society..Shame on you..LOL

  • nice video man. is that a les paul standard? what pickups is it loaded with?

i have a tremoverb as well, but it doesn't sound great. I've tried both a esp with emg 81/85 pair and a lighter guitar with a duncan distortion but I can't get it to sound rich and meaty. it just sounds fizzy and trebly

  • @inviscid43 you probably have it running through some cheapass piece of shit cabinet. either that or you don't know how to dial it in.

  • I dig yer playing!!! I also like the wig and fake eyebrows!!!! where'd u get em?

  • Somebodies Mommy and Daddy bought there lil boy a whole bunch of toys! yeahhhhhh!

  • Haha I wish. My folks bought me my first 2 guitars a nice acoustic and the sunburst les paul and my first 'decent' amp the Line 6 Flextone II, everything else i bought working two jobs whilst at university

  • you need a PRS

  • I have a PRS. I use a PRS SC245 Singlecut i trans amber as my main guitar, I use it some of my more recent videos

  • Mad skills dude..

  • Haha listen to the computer chair freud. The idea of showing the rig is to allow people to see what gear I use, they then request specific demonstrations of any of the pedals they see in the video. If you read the video description this explained. No self esteem issues I'm afraid. I think someones jealous to be honest. I worked hard to buy all that stuff whilst studying at university, maybe u should try doing the same and stop being an internet douche

  • @cnnre2005 I agree with craig, its normal to be jealous of all the cool toys he has but theres no need to be a douche about it! Good on him for spending his money on a hobby he enjoys!

  • does ur tremoverb have a detachable power cord? the reason i ask is cause i saw some with a detachable cord and some without. does it make a difference

  • Yup it has a detachable power cable. It does make a difference in my case as I transport my head in a custom made flightcase to minimise damage and if the power cord wasnt detahcable the head wouldnt fit. You can see on of the flightcases sitting under the silver faced combo in the video

  • The older ones had the power cable permanently mounted. I have a 92 and also owned a 93, both with the permanent cable. I was able to mod the 93 and install a detachable power cable plug in less than an hour. There is no sound difference, only convenience.

  • sounds awesome, im about to get one next week! does ur tremoverb have a detachable power cord? the reason i ask is cause i saw some with and some without the detachable cords. just wondering if it made a difference

  • have u had ur tremoverb modified?

  • Nop

  • hey I see you have a Mesa cab, if you still have, I would seriously recommend looking at ENGL cabs,, a friend of mine tested both and there is a huge tonal quality gab between the two.

  • so many guitars, so many amp, so goddmn many pedals...blearg

  • i'm thinking about getting a tremoverb because i really like the sound mike einziger of incubus gets up until he stopped using them after morning view. are there any other mesa's that can get that sound that einziger gets, like lets say with the riff of nowhere fast found here watch?v=6a0909Uh-7s cool thanks

  • @zep123dmc He is the one who inspired me to get my Tremoverb more than 8 years ago. Dual Recs in general will get you the general sound but theres a warmth(no pun intended) to the tremoverbs in particular that standard dual recs lack. Not sure why that it is. I am considering selling mine pretty soon cause I need the money and it never gets played.

  • @TheUnclesidandthegay oh ok, yea i've been looking the longest time for a good one on ebay. what year is yours and what kind of condition is it in?

  • you like your les pauls don't ya?

  • best dream theater song everz

  • DREAM THEATER!!! that was sweet!

  • NICE ROOM DUDE, NICE ROOM!

  • you played style which I like. really slow riffs and artificial on low string. keep it up

  • all epiphone guitars im afraid...

  • sure all those pedals just eat up ya tone.... thts jus way too much for my liking lol ide loose my way round worse than a trip to ikea

  • They would if they were connected in series. But I have a Gig Rig Pro 14 meaning despite all thos pedals my signal is very clean and strong. The Pro 14 completly removes any pedal not in use from the signal path. It also removes the need for tap dancing to turn pedals on and off as you programme in presets and hit one button to change several effects at once

  • safe, i dnt venture much further thn delay nd wah maybe bita chorus lol

  • tone too dry. No way you would cut through a mix with that.

  • Nice gear! I envy you!

  • What type of les paul 7 string is that? It sure ain't gibson!

  • Its an Epiphone

  • "the dark eternal night" riff is played on a 7 string right?

i wish you had a tab for a 6 string...

  • Yeh its on a 7 string. I am playing it on a 7 string.

  • @craigmcarthur1 a 7 string epi? havent seen that.

  • Yeh, we have two in our band. I have one and one of the other guitarists has one. Sounds good

  • Hey, Craig. Great video. Please could you let me know how much you spent on this guitar as I may be purchasing one, second hand.

    Cheers, Josh

  • Bought it from a bandmate for a nominal fee im afraid

  • schoot duumi, shott dui

    HHHHHHHHOOOOW

  • that's an insane amount of gear !! how on earth did you manage to afford all of that ?

  • Working

  • crikey... I envy you !

  • You know working has no value by itself. The most important thing is doing what you like and feel good. I worked like two men, 15 or 16 hours a day and finally I felt sick, the economic depression came and the boss told me : "I don't need you any more". Irony : I was manager in the human resourses. Now you have the start of a social protection in America ! Never forget it because a job don't worth a life and will never do it. Remember !

  • I dont think anyone cared about that little speal bud.. G4u Remember

  • totally agree O_O that insane do u really use all that gear? i only have a head and a POD and i work nice on that :S.....and how can u still having feedback with all that gear? :S

  • Got Pedal?

  • Dude have you tried the 3 channel dual rect? I might trade mine for a tremo-verb, i don't really use the 3rd channel, and i like the reverb, we shall see ;) the 3rd channel might be good for soloing though, pros and cons are hard to way between the 2

  • I have tried the 3 channel recto. My bandmate has the 4 channel roadking which is excellent. I prefer the Tremoverb to the dual rect. Only use the tremoverb for overdrive tones tho. I use a Hiwatt for clean. i NEED 3 channels, clean, overdrve and heavy overdrive. Think twice before ditching the 3 channels

  • IMO 3 channels is far more important than reverb.... also you can esealy get a pring reverb or a digital one and put it as pedal

  • Yea i've done some more research and sacrificing 4 voicings and a channel isn't worth it for reverb. I'm sure the 3 Channel can do all the same tones as the tremoverb dry. Thanks guys!

  • I agree. I use 2 head live now as a result. I have a Hiwatt for clean, then I usr the vintage and modern hi gain settings on the boogie. I would love a 4 channel amp. Had a look at the Roadking, Roadster and the Mark IV.

  • Sounds like a nice setup man ;) I've played the Roadking before and man that thing is awesome... the combination of EL34's and 6l6's are frickin amazing, just loads of tubes in that sucker lol. I saw one used at G.C. for $1500 and about freaked out. Oddly enough I think the Mark IV is what I would go for after playing the Roadking and Roadster, the eq on it is pretty impressive.

  • I love the Roadking, we recorded most of our latest EP with my bandmates Roadking, its excellent. The progressive linkage is great. The Mark IV i very nearly bought, but needed a new car so couldnt afford one! will get one eventually, dropping that EQ in on channel 4 sounds huge!!

  • What you can MIX tubes? I just replaced mine the 6l6 is all they had.. I honestly Like the sound of the el34 better It was deeper.. .. What voltagge do you adjust to if your Mixing em up

  • Marry me. You're kinda millionaire.

  • DT ftw.

Where'd you get/how'd you make the 7-string Paul?

  • Epi Les Paul 7-string?

  • You and Gazpots are both incredible guitarists with different styles. That must make for a very interesting band dynamic.

  • We do have hugely different styles, technically he is in a different league from me however, he is a scarely good guitarist! we have a 3rd guitarist Thomas of Meemawuk, who is an excellent guitarist, he has a different style from me also. I think we work well as a band as a result.

Thanks for the comment and the kind words

  • This amp is known for its (you pick the adjective) "tone" without requiring external effects. And, as one reviewer noted "As with any high gain amplifier a certain amount of noise is inherent." So, it's "factory pre-cluttered"? What a novel idea.

I'm surprised that MESA built this amp. But, after the laughable BOGNER - LINE 6 "collaboration" I guess suburban bedroom metal amps are what sell these days.

Got it. I amend my first and say,

With this noisy amp it won't matter what guitar you use.

  • Why are u surprised Mesa Boogie made this amp? It follows the same basic design as the current dual rectifier, both of which are successful and very commonly used amps. I wouldnt say its a bedroom, nor metal amp either. I have a few amps and have played most of the Mesa Boogie range, and many other companies, i.e Engl, Bogner Marshall, and have never felt compelled to buy another amp for this sound. My Boogie and Hiwatt offer me a nice balance of tones

  • With that unbelievably cluttered signal chain it doesn't much matter what kind of guitars he plays.

  • You couldnt actually be more wrong. You see the big black and blue box. Its a Gig Rig Pro 14 to which all the pedals and amps are connected, its an analog switching unit. Meaning only the pedal actually in use is in the signal chain. My cables are George L meaning my signal chain is about as clear as possible.

  • craigmcarthur1 wrote: "Its a Gig Rig Pro 14 to which all the pedals and amps are connected, its an analog switching unit. Meaning only the pedal actually in use is in the signal chain."

    Thank you for the correction.

And just what "pedal actually in use" would that be, Craig?

  • Well in this video, seeing as its an amp demo, there are no pedals in use. If you had taken the time to read the video description you would know this

In this video, despite the mass of pedals on the floor, the guitar signal is as follows:

Guitar -> Input of Mesa Boogie Tremoverb

Go read about the Gig Rig Pro 14

  • how did u get a 7 string les paul!

  • i'm asking the same to me right now

  • I like the DT tone. What kind of wah are you playing thru?

  • In this video its a morley mark tremonti power wah

  • looks like you have your own music store up there:P but nice playing

  • ..a house

  • with this gear you could almost buy house!:DxDxD

    where do you get these?:D:D

  • can i ask you something? where the fuck do you buy all these are an fucking thief or bill gates nephew or something?

  • I worked my ass off whilst studying at university to buy this stuff working a part time job and playing in paying bands

  • Id love to be you man....I can barely pay for a distortion pedal :(

  • 3x epiphone les paul standard ?? hahahah

  • is that a seven string epiphone??

  • Yup

  • hey thanks for telling me about the gig rig pro 14 a few years ago. i finally got one two weeks ago and its amazing.

  • No probs, the Pro 14 is excellent! How u finding it?

  • hey i have a 4X12 cab and am looking at that mesa 2X12. Would you reccomend this for gigging? I just want to know if I'm going to get that punch still

  • Yeh I very much would recommend the Boogie 2x12. I use either a Bogner 1x12 or Boogie 2x12 for live shows, depending on the size of the venue. Both are great, both give me great tone and great punch. I have a couple of amp stands I use to get the cab at the right angle so its pointed at my face, so I can keep the onstage volume down as much as possible and still use my cab as monitor. I ahve never had any probs cutting thru the mix with either the 1x12 or 2x12, mic'ed or not.

  • thank you so much my friend. big help. love your videos by the way

  • dude you got more pedals ass al pro players 0.o

  • Just got a trem-o-verb, and been tweaking it, what are you're settings in this vid?

  • Hey, the TOV is great once u get your head round tweaking. As for setting in this vid, not sure of exact settings, i posted rough settings in the video description,

  • nice tone, but can you tell me what the difference is between a standard dual rectifier, the rectoverb and the tremoverb... i'm having trouble discerning.

  • dual rec-4 6L6s, 2 rectifier tubes, 100 watts. rectoverb-2 6L6s, solid state rectifier, reverb, 50 watts, combo or head.

tremoverb-same as dual rec, with tremolo (and maybe reverb?) combo or head.

  • Tremoverb has reverb and tremolo circuitary, and ships with 4x 6L6's, 2 X 5U4G Rectifier Tubes, 6 x 12AX7, so 6 stage pre amp.

Rectoverb ships with 2 x 6L6's, solid state recfifer and 5 12AX7's so 5 stage.

    Dual Recto has 4 6L6's, 2 X 5U4G rectifer tubes, and 5 12AX7's so 5 stage.

  • What's the name of the first song?xD

  • The Glass Prison

  • badass dude

  • where the hell can u get a 7 string paul?

  • I bought it from my bandmate. He had two identical LP7's. Nice guitar

  • I still do technically.

    Hint hint.

    Gaz

  • I wanna hear that lap steel through the Trem-o. lol

  • spend more time practicing and less time spending money

  • Why when I can pay someone to practice for me.

  • Dude I had to laugh because I was going to write pretty much the same comment. Its true...any learning guitarists out there please please please...get a good guitar and a good amp with a good overdrive and just play!!! Music is about playing. Once you can do that then get all the pedals but dont waste your money unless you can afford to waste it!!! Get good at playing first and save your money as it will pay in the long run. Good luck.

  • your gear is ridiculous.

  • damn dude never seen a les paul 7 string.SWEET AS HELL!!!got a bad ass rig.

  • damn dude never seen a les paul 7 string.sweet as hell!!!

  • whoa...quick scan, you got at least 25K wrapped up in gear...I want your day job!

  • The DT part is played on a 7 string :P

  • That is a seven string

  • i lol'd

  • wow are you a Fx dealer or something like that?

    Omg :-)

  • I wish, na, bought all this stuff myself!

  • Sounds cool! Your riffs aren't fluid, you stall a bit, but I imagine it was because of the cold. :D

  • hey i got the same head as u but im having some probs with it, it wont sustain anymore there is somthing wrong with hte preamp stage, have u had any probs with urs?? I was thinking of sending it out to mesa for refurb but dont no anything about it!! Any suggestions? thanx

  • I havent had any probs with my head. Possibly just a tube problem, get someone with experience to check it over for u would b the only advice i can give u im afraid

  • what kind of distortion pedal do you use? or is all the distortion coming from the mesa head?

  • i have a few but in this vid is dry mesa head, no pedals, except for the little bit of wah

  • buy a peavey bandit 112 it sounds better

  • i have a peavey bandit 112 and a mesa trem o verb. i swear to god. and you have got to be joking. im trying to sell it. the trem overb is amazing!

  • I have gigged with a Line 6 Vetta, Mesa Dual Rectifier, VHT Ultra, H&K tube head, and now an Egnater Mod 50 tube modular amp. The Vetta was a great piece and never had a problem. The Line actually sounds better in this video.

If you tweak correctly, a digital amp can kill live. A buddy of mine was in a band that required a lot of effects so he ran a Boss GT3 through his Mesa Mark IV head set to clean, so essentially the Mesa was a power amp and sounded amazing.

  • I agree to an extent with what you have said. I am very much a fan of the digital amp, and constantly find myself, as do my two bandmates, defending our line 6 amps despite all three of us owning and using Mesa Boogie amps. I do still believe that at very high volumes and in the studio you can hear and more importantly feel the difference between a good tube amp and a digital even with tweaking which we are experience with. I think the difference however is growing ever smaller

  • I hear ya! We recorded with tubes after using digital for a while and there was a difference, but for home recording digital is so much easier for me. Also, running a digital pre through a tube power amp makes a difference as well! Check out the Fractal Audio Axe FX for some nice digital tones!

  • Yup i agree. We have flextones and pods for home recording and get reasonable results from them. Also used a GT-6 in the past.

I will defo check out the Fractal. Thanks for the comment and advice

  • I have to say I liked the cleaner sounds from this amp in your last video, I'd love to hear you run a les paul through a lower gain setting though.

  • There is a BD-2 vid where i do pretty much what you said. 'Boss BD-2 Demo part 2'. cheers

  • Hey man the first riff is choice! What song is it?

  • The Glass Prison by Dream Theater. Excellent song by an excellent band, slaughtered by me in this vid haha!

  • sorry ,just being objective, been on the road for seven years,

play three days a week all over 10 states

    this is just noise,

  • Demoing the overdrive channel on a rectifier amp does require a certain amount of gain to be used. Also Dream Theater are very melodic, not noise. Music is subjective dont be so self righteous.

Where are your videos to prove this fine pedigree of guitar knowledge? For all we know your some fat loud mouth who considers himself a guitarist having played guitar hero in an arcade in front of other fat losers. Post some videos of your own then maybe your opinions will carry some weight.

  • wow owned

  • Great Playing.. love the gibsons and epis as well as the many keeley pedals. i'm looking to either buy the rectoverb or tremoverb. would you have any suggestions/advice on a Mesa Boogie amp to get?

  • Depends what your looking for really, and very much a personal preference thing. I love the overdrive tones from my Tremoverb but not a huge fan of the clean hence the hiwatt head. Not a big fan of the clean on most Rectifiers I have used. Having said that my bandmate uses a Roadking head and I quite like the cleans on that. Defo look at the Mark IV I love that amp. But as I said really dependant on the kind of music u plan on playing.

  • some of these clips should be banned, nice equipment, but just noise--

I don't hear any melody hear, just distortion going nowhere

  • Go listen to my other videos then leave snidey comments you jackass

  • how much money do you have in your room?

    fuck you! xDDDD

  • Dunno, quite alot i would imagine. Bought up over a few years

  • \m/ for DT m8!

  • lots of equipment cheers dude, how much money spent in it?

  • I have no idea, alot i think.

  • When did you start playing guitar? Dude you go college/ university in a music major?

  • Started playing in High School. Nop, didnt do music at university only high school and as a hobby, I studied Optometry at university.

  • Ah, Optometry? Good field to go into, I bet you make a ton of money. How many years of schooling does it take again? 8? And nice amp man. Why'd you choose the Trem-O-Verb over the others?

  • Yeh I like my job its interesting. I was looking for an overdrive amp and a guy I know had a head with flightcase in mint condition he was selling, hardly used. Tried it at his house and it sounded great, had to buy it. Sounds brutal at gig volume.

  • Nice playing by the way.

  • I see know that at least a mesa boogie you use:) But you have so much gear it is hard to imagine what you are using for what:)

  • Dude you have a lot of shit!

  • That amp sounds like SEX! I WANT IT!

  • the daaaaark eteeeeeeernal night!

i have been impressed with every single video on your profile

thank you for taking the time to film all these. they are incredibly helpful and sound great

  • Cheers dude, glad to be of help

  • wow, i never knew someone could hate Gibson so much.

  • Who hates Gibson?

  • no. it was sarcasm. you have like 6 gibsons

  • you look like matt donofrio

  • I knew a guy that was obsessed with effects pedals. He never had any money and his sound was always burried in effects.

  • I wouldnt say I am obsessed with f pedals, but they do play a large part in my sound. I dont think I ever overuse the fx pedals tho. They hav all been purchased for a reason as opposed to just buying a load.

  • cool tone bro! I recently traded my Vox AC30 for this head. Just need a few tips here... i find the amp a bit noisy when i play in a clean channel with a Boss Turbo Distortion..i use this just for different sounds..and what tube r u using rite now?? thanks

  • I have 6L6's in my Tremoverb head dude. It will be noisey as the Boss Turbo Distortion aint the best distortion pedal u could be using, its a noisey pedal. You could maybe try an analog/tube style overdrive pedal. I have a few Keeley modified Boss overdrive pedals which are much quieter than stock models.

  • where abouts do u hook it up 2???

  • Most go in the fx loop of the amp me thinks.

  • thanks buddy u been a big help,i think thats the problem, the amp gets loud so quick i barley go over 2.poor thing i gotta take it outside more:P

  • hey dude just a little question about ur tremoverb....i got 1 and when i use it in the modern high gain setting on low volume, when i9 palm mute it sounds like the speakers are shitting themselves??? is this because the amp is not powering enough watts at such a low volume(i mean like 8 oclock on the dial) or is it somethign else.i use NO pedels just straight amp distortion.

  • Mmmm Im not sure dude. The amp doesnt perform particularly well at low volumes I do admit, its a beast at gigging volume tho. You should maybe considr buying an attenuator sou can push both the pre amp and power to obtain decent tones but without killing the neighbours!

  • ok thanks dude didnt even know they existed,i just found 1 that reduces the db up to 40 so i guess if i do that then i can pump the amp but it wont be so loud???

  • There are loads on the market. They allow u to push ur amp so u can drive the tubes enough to get a nice overdrive sound without being arrested for the volume. Decent investment if u cant plat at volume when at home

  • looks like you have a flextone in the background. Is it even comparable at all to the mesa?

  • I like the flextone I have had it for years, my two bandmates also have Flextones despite owning Mesa's. I wouldnt say its comparable to a tube amp like my mesa or hiwatt, but defo a good amp. Very good as a practice amp and for someone at earlier stages in their playing.

  • dude!! dark eternal night.. sweet

  • Holy shit dude. You got alot of shit. =] jesus christ.

  • Nice, that is my guitar exactly. Cept I still got the pickgaurd. And I've gotten it engraved. Nice equip bt
