Actually Down's syndrome is caused by the addition of part of an, or an entire chromosome. Nothing about the genes themselves is fundamentally different. They just have more of them. By the way, genetic diseases that actually affect individual genes and are not fully present in either parent affect only a very tint portion of the population. Also I'm trolling.
