  • DaVinci is my mystery horse. It's been suggested he's Arab/Clyde cross, or Tennessee Walker, or even mustang cross. He's only 14.3. He does, however, have a Clydesdale pasture mate.

  • Does he have Clydesdale in him?

  • im hoping my new horse will be like this because im loading him in our trailer for the first time tomorrow :D

  • I am not much into clicker training and stuff like that (mainly because I don't really need any of it since I have no issues with my horses doing want i want them to do), but this is nicely done. Two thumbs up from me! It's refreshing to see this compared to all that tapping, and roping and slaping and backing and shanking you see all the time!

Whatever works to make the trailer a happy place has my vote. :)

    Good job.

  • Oh, the horse is learning just like a dolphin!

  • Foals target their mothers, horses target other horses or the herd. I think horses by nature love to follow objects. I use the sponge so DaVinci can move toward what he wants, rather than away from what he doesn't want. Each time his nose touches the sponge, I make a sound and reward him. He associates the sponge with feeling good, and happily follows it anywhere. If I don't use a sponge, he can target my hand. This way, the horse is never physically forced into a behavior.

  • Fantastic to see other people training with positive reinforcement and no force. Also, WELL DONE! I read his story on your website, it's so wonderful that he now trusts you enough to follow you into a trailer!

  • Great job! Hope you have much more success with DaVinci
