COULD YOU SEE AN ADULT MALE SINGER ON T.V. SINGING A BABY SONG?
THAT IS WHAT WE SEE WHEN WE SEE THE DUBLINERS SINGING "WEELY WEELLY WALLA". NOW, HOW CHILDISH, AND SILLLY, IS T HAT? IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON SINGING THE TEDDY BEAR'S PICNIC. OR WESTLIFE SINGING ORANGES AND LEMONS.
OH, GOD, I THINK I CAN.
BUT HOW STUPID IS ALL THAT? I MEAN, ADULTS AND B ABY SO NGS.
GET MOLLY'S STATUE OUT OF THE PRESENT POSH PART OF BLAW CLEE CITY AND PUT IT INTO MOORE STREET WHERE IT BELOONGS. THERE ARE SCORES AND SCORES OF MOLLIES TODAY FLOGGING HALF-PRICE TOBACCO AND CIGARETTES.

The audience was always encouraged, look through some of the videos on youtube. I think that the audience's involvment adds to the music, I would suppose that the name folk music was used because the folk are included, not seperated from the musicians.
Why does he encourage the audience to join in . the whole point in going to see a band is to listen to them not listen the the whole place roaring . You can sing the songs when you get home or better still down the pub.
@mrmagicroundcircle It's not an opera remember. A big part of the experience of going to see a band like the Dubliners is feeling and hearing the whole audience joining in and being part of it. An atmosphere like that suits songs like these.
@TheHantuDemon Maybe but i dont think the original Dubliners Ronnie drew ect encouraged the audience quiet as much as the modern version . they didn't need to in my opinion .
I'm a student in Belgium, and we have a costum called Cantus, where we all gather to drink beer and sing old folk songs. Lots of these songs are Irish classics.

A Greensleeves, vagy a She moved through the fair az ő előadásában gyönyörű.
EIRE IS FOREVER!!!!! (and Baile Átha Cliath too, where girls are so pretty! :-))))))) )
Régebben én is többször voltam ilyen koncerteken. Pesten játszik a MÉZ vagy a Skeleton nevű, elég színvonalas kis, félig ír, félig magyar banda. (utóbbi nem tudom, hogy meg-van-e még.) Természetesen Flatley-t is láttuk.

the whole island? inc. the welsh scottish cornish, border tribes, plus all respected half breeds and border landers. or the tax bringers that you were to scared to stand against. yea, there was a uniform of red, adorned before the immagration to irradicate true americans. by merc's. and for the rec brit along with pakki.. is a shortening of the initial word
should be this considered a country music too? I think U.S country music was born when the first europeans settled there,no? so how this music was called? I mean, before country music. They're practically the same. Sorry for my English, is not very good... I salute all the Irish people here =) I'm from México and both countries have a great History, back then in XIX century when México was invaded by the U.S. the batallion of Saint Patrick joined the Mexican army. Great History!
Just returned from my first trip to Ireland and can't wait to visit again. Beautiful country with warm, friendly people. You must visit Temple Bar in Dublin. To all my new Irish friends- Erin go Bragh!
I'm from Philippines and i learned this music through Andrew M. Greeley novel...featuring MCGRAIL(correct me if im wrong). and since then, i loved this song...
oh also, there were a couple of audiences that actually looked familiar to me because they're exactly like how I imagined the characters of cecelia ahern's books. omg wow O.O
irishrebelandandproud. I respect and value those of a different tradition to me. I can trace my ancestors back to the early 17th century. I am as legitimate an Irishman as you are, but i'm from the North and i'm British and proud of it. The Good Friday Agreement was endorsed by an overwhelming majority in the south. Get over it. God Save the Queen and God save the Republic of Ireland !
@alatac1977 Yes 26 out of 32 counties are free, the remaining 6 counties in the north still remain under the british tyrants. We are not there yet,but one day we will get there, tiocfaidh ar la (our day will come) and 26+6=1. I hope catolonia will be free some day as well, then we can all sing really happy songs

In der schönen Stadt Dublin
wo die Mädchen so hübsch sind,
viel sie mir ins Auge, süße Molly Malone,
sie rollt, ihren Karren
durch breite und enge Straßen
und ruft, "Herzmuscheln, Muscheln, lebendig, lebendig Hoo !"
"Lebendig, lebendig, ho - hoo !"
"Lebendig, lebendig, ho - hoo !"
Ruft, "Herzmuscheln, Muscheln, lebendig, lebendig Hoo !"

should be this considered a country music too? I think U.S country music was born when the first europeans settled there,no? so how this music was called? I mean, before country music. They're practically the same. Sorry for my English, is not very good... I salute all the Irish people here =) I'm from México and both countries have a great History, back then in XIX century when México was invaded by the U.S. the batallion of Saint Patrick joined the Mexican army. Great History!

@AsmodiasLacroix My name, Millar, originated from Germany. Did Germans migrate to Ireland in ancient history?

irishrebelandandproud.

If my country was independent Catalonia as Ireland...the Catalans, also like the Irish would sing so incredibly happy.
