  • an old RUF can keep up with an much newer 911! This is great!

  • Wow! Now I know why they nicknamed it the 'Yellowbird'. You can actually hear the turbo spooling away and that lovely, distinct, Canary-bird-like whistle of the BOV from 00:35 - 00:43. Sheer brilliance!

  • That 930 is quick as fuck!

  • Is It Adam driving his dad's yelllowbir?

  • Comment removed

  • all this RUF talk that they are their own company... what kind of engine are they using? I asume a porsche engine as it would be tough to fit anything else in a porsche boday and frame.. and its a porsche frame adn body too.. so what is RUF actually manufacturing and doing the R&D on? Seems like its a modified porsche to me!

  • Ruf is to Porshce as M is to BMW and AMG is to Merc as Saleen is to Mustang.

  • RUF is to Porsche like Hamman is to BMW (and many others) and Brabus is to Mercedes-Benz. They aren't funded by the companies, just own licences to their cars. Now, M at BMW, AMG at MB, RS (Renault Sport) at Renault and RS (Rallye Sport) at Ford, are divisions of their companies, therefore a direct part, also funded by the company itself.

  • i knew the yellow bird would win new cars these days are watered down by ruf they need to go crazy with their cars

  • yellow bird is impressive.whats the hp of the other ruf??

  • RUF is an official manufacturer, even though they are based on Porsche's cars. I love RUF, we are very lucky to have a FUR dealer in D/FW (Dallas/Fort Worth), I just need to sell more houses, I hope to own a RUF someday. I've had two Porsche 951s, brilliant cars!

  • the f40 could do a lot more....but the "stock" version doesn`t have anything to prove

  • Gotta love the ctr - 211 max in somtheing that shape when the f40 could only pull 201 ! best road car ever....

  • I dort I dore a RUF CTR.... I DIID I DIID see a RUF CTR

  • Still love the YELLOW BIRD.

  • Excellent, great drag. Gotta love 'em...

  • HI HI HI HI RUF WINS

  • they are both RUF's

  • =) =)

  • RUF ist Hersteller nicht Tuner.. denn die Modelle von Ruf haben von denen mit Porsche nicht viel gemeinsam

  • nice vid

  • There different models though. CTR represents the fastest RUF of the period, where they go all out on them. RGT is more of a tuned Porsche.

Run the 'Yellowbird' against a CTR 2, or better still a CTR 3.

But still an astonishing car, i wish i had one : (

  • Who cares about a 5 grand Alpina BMW?

My old fiesta had fiesta on the V5, so what?

    Wicked vid! Love it!

  • yellow is just a faster color....scientific fact

  • Haha..

    :o)

  • this is amazing a CTR Yellow Bird win and RGT2 loose, some amazing.

  • I did not expect that...

  • oh shit that old ruf it s fast..

  • wait till you see the numbers that the C T R 3 puts out, once it's run through it's first official tests. Talk about fast. 3 point 2 zero to 60 time, not estimated, actual. I heard some rumors it was actually closer to 3, flat.

  • shit man..i love Porsches since i was little and now i love RUFs :D :D

  • btw i saw vid..yellowbird at nurburgring that dude really knew hot to drive that 87 ruf

  • ruf takes untitled chassis and put them through there own extensive modifications which makes the car a ruf, they also do in house tuning for people who want to produce more horsepower out of there 911s,930,s and so on ,thus is the case between the ctr first generation which is a ruf and not necessarily a porsche and the btr which is essentially a modified 930

  • Also, Alpina is more like a subsidiary of BMW. All Alpinas have the BMW badge on them. The RUF's do not have the Porsche badge but rather the initials "RUF"

  • Actually Alpina's do not have BMW badges on.

They have Alpina vin numbers and Alpina badges.

Also on the registration document the car is an Alpina not a BMW.

  • They do. Go to Wiki and you'll see that the name "Alpina" is used with conjunction with "BMW" You'll see plenty of photos of Alpinas with BMW badges.

  • Sorry mate but thats crap, I owned a 'proper' not a badge engineered Alpina B3 2.7 Touring straight from the Factory at Buchloe Germany.

there was not a single BMW badge on it anywhere.

The Vin plate was 'Alpina', the V5 reg document was 'Alpina'.

Im not talking about a BMW that someone has gone and bought a set of Alpina wheels and body styling, proper Alpina's are not registered as BMW's - thats a FACT.....

  • Exactly, I've got a C2 2.7 and everything is Alpina, steering wheel, alloys, badges, engine rocker cover, exhaust, manifold, dash plaque, front spoiler, rear spoiler.

One discrepency where you're wrong, some C2 convertibles are not registered as 2.7 Alpinas, but still stock M20B25s. This is a fact.

Ring up Sytner nottingham and find out, my Alpinas down as a 2.5 automatic from the factory. It's definitely NOT FAKE, it's sitting in Premier BMW Showroom in Wales. Check it out.

  • what the fuck are you talking about airlinecaptain?

  • your alpina is a fake FACT! its a boyracers badged up 3 series your such an idiot you cant even tell its got blag badges all over it, anyway alpinas hardly compare with a 500hp 1980,s classic porsche racer you fool.

  • Whoa, wait a mintute there mate.

I didn;t say Alpina was faster than RUF, I said Porsche was faster than Alpina, so you're the stupid fool for not being able to read.

Also, my Alpina is not fake because I have the original delivery note from the car by Frank Sytner and Hexagon BMW in Nottingham detailing the conversion specifictions. It's on the records. It's not a boy racer, no. I'm not so stupid as to buy a fake. I know my E30's and this is not the badged turds no....

  • As for badges, badges don't mean a thing.

Right hand drive M-tech 1, 2.7 automatic with an EH switchable sports box, complete with an Alpina diff only means one thing...Alpina. Since when are EH sports box 2.7's M20B25's ever non Hartge or Alpina?

Do you actaully know "anything" about E30s?

    I think not...

  • And if you also go to Wiki you will see that Alpina is classified as a manufacturer in its own right, it is not registered as a BMW, the BMW roundel that may appear on some cars is only on the recent stuff that has been built up by supplying dealerships, anything that comes from Buchloe Germany will wear the Alpina Roundel

  • They're not initials, it's the founders last name. Alois Ruf. Just a correction, not trying to be a dick or anything.

  • YELLOW BIRD!

  • What Ruf is needs to be cleared up a little. While Ruf is considered a "tuning company" like Alpine, the extent of their modifications on stock Porsche's is so extensive, it warrents the rebadging of the car as a Ruf. Therefore, a Ruf car is registered as a Ruf, and not a Porsche.

  • @spookymilk Alpine? As in Renault or did you mean Alpina as in BMW...Guessing Alpina.

  • Ruf-Porsche is just like Alpina-BMW

  • No, Ruf is actually a car manufacturer...

  • when you have n OEM Alpina car it says Alpina on the registration, not BMW.

  • RUF is nothing like Alpina really who make cars that differ in delivery to their BMW counterparts. RUF make them very much quicker.

  • Alpinas are much quicker than stock Beamers too, but not so much as to compete with RUF no.

BMW has too many counterpats to actaully differentiate properly like RUF, in a way.

HARTGE, AC SCHNITZER, ALPINA, MOTORSPORT CORP...

  • Porsche also has many. RUF, Germballa, 9ff

  • Woops, my bad, lack of knowledge lol.

  • Only BMW M Gmbh and Alpina are officialy affilated with BMW.

  • some well-built machines there

  • whats the difference between porshe and ruf

  • ruf are a little german company who tune porsches and also make some of their own cars, which all tend to be very fast and look like porsches because porsche let ruf use their body designs.

  • @speedychrissie O so its like the NISMO for porsche?

  • @speedychrissie Thier own car is still a tuned Porsche, It's just branded as a stand alone model :)

  • @speedychrissie To be technical, RUF don't actually 'tune' Porsches so to speak, they get blank Porsche shells with no VIN and install their own parts. RUF are actually classed as a manufacturer in their own right

  • Ruf is an authorized tuner that works exclusively on Porsche based models.

  • @mazda6tuner99 It's like Mercedes and Brabus

  • 20 years old and still beating the crap out of the modern supers... gotta love it. Plain, pure simple super car.

  • Newer HP are not more HP ;)

Power is power and i don't think on the track

  • shit hot!

  • the ctr ruf 2 is one of my faverite cars

  • Hadouken!!!!!

  • I don't understand, the RuF Yellow Bird does 211mph, was the runway too short?

  • i dont think there is a runway in britain long enough to reach its true top speed of 211, but you are right that it will go that fast if you have the space

  • @speedychrissie

    or the balls

  • The CTR Yellowbird. Wolf in sheep's clothing.

I've seen so many people comment on the Ruf vids, saying things like "The Porsche Ruf" etc.

No, it is NOT a Porsche. It is an Ruf, just as Brabus is an independent manufacturer from Mercedes-Benz.

Love to see the GT2 take on the CTR2 :-)

  • they're passing airplanes on the runway, ha.

  • If life was fair i would have both of them in my garage.

But alas i have to make do with a wrx and bmw 325i :(

  • poor loser..

  • ihr seit beide vögel

  • 4bt cummins porsche jk

  • sorry, what do you mean "diesel powered porsche"?

neither of these cars run on diesel.

  • Ignore him, speedychrissie.

    He's just a jealous sod.

    Fantastic video, mate.

  • @speedychrissie i think he meant RUF are diesel powered _ LOL

  • @ladaladaladalada

Lol, you don't know anything about these cars?

  • The car is awesome...weight is almost everything...but in this case the car has a very good aerodynamic and lots of power.

  • i lvoe porshe 914 and 924s

  • Sweet, i wouldn't mind if my 996 C2 went like that...

  • i want a porsche 917 k30

  • The Yellow Bird is a missle.

    Even 20 years later :)))

  • respect for a 20 years old porsche turbo (even Ruf). I just tried a GT2 and was a great experience...and about a Ruf?

  • Truly awesome.

  • Yellowbird is indeed nuts, BUT i wouldnt trade my RUF R-GT2 for anything short of a Carrera GT :)

  • The yellow bird is still good enogh to roll with the modern porshe, respect. Got to love it

  • I'm glad too see no comments saying "isn't that a porsche"

    I just love ruf's

  • They have a 996 version of the Yellow Bird too.

  • LMAO! I guess we are not the only ones who toy around our private airport with our cars! We call it "runway checks"

  • We call it VMax ;)

  • really great video. I WANT MORE :D

  • Seems like Yellow Bird's not ready to give up its crown! Great race and thanks for sharing.
