@ScopedOUT2 im eating all raw fruits and veggies. my dad raised channel catfish for years in the lake. i can clean a fish in less than 60 seconds, i just dont want to. smiles :)
@ScopedOUT2 its the quickest easiest way for me to cut out all fast food and boxed crap from the grocery stores. meats have all kinds of calories i dont need too. listen at this...raw fruits and veggies. tah dah! all i want. cant get an easier plan than that. ive lost 200 pounds in two yrs.
I have been wondering about the Bacteria part of the equation in Aquaponics.
The way I have understood it so far is that the Plants will feed off of Fish poo, and the water running off of the plant bed will need to be processed by the Bacteria(is that correct?). What i want to know is where are the bacteria? Are they in a different reservoir? How long will the water need to stay in that reservoir?
If any one can shed light on this for me it would be appreciated.
@saeidmomtahan The bacteria grow naturaly in the pond and grow beds then turn the amonia in fish waste into nitrates for plants. It would probaly be very hard to prevent these bacteria from growing.
@saeidmomtahan Hey the bacteria, or biological filter come naturally with fish. Its the same concept as a home fish tank. You can actually go to a pet store and buy the bacteria in a bottle to speed it up but once you introduce fish and waste to the system it will come along by itself, slowly but surely. If ya wanted to really speed it up you would go to people whom already have an indoor fish tnak and borrow water from them and introduce that water right into your pond.

@saeidmomtahan floydjares is correct, the bacteria live where the fish live, they also culminate in the grow beds, especially if you have a deep water culture system or flood and drain system.
Really nice Aquaponics look, love it. Shows a great marriage of aesthetics and functionality of backyard aquaponics. Good idea with the wire fencing material in the ponds to keep the birds out, I'm guessing.
Love the boat bed! Very cool. Thanks!

Why do you put metal grates in the ponds?
