  • i think it's safe to say that the beat is the greatest Ska band ever

  • Salut, merci, c'est vraiment trop cool !!!

  • Amazing in 2010!!!

  • Esto es vida boys!

  • people poets - well b4 weller....they were the the way forward,,,,,,where is wakeling now....? dig him out...!!!!!!1

  • @jezzapele

Saw an English Beat concert with Dave Wakeling early September in San Diego... the band was fantastic and the music wonderful as always. Very cool music and people.

  • never thought id see this vid...nice one

  • Wonderful. This song captures my youth.

  • They can do no wrong, this and old UB40super cool, why are there no artists around like this these days, Maybe a product of the social upheaval of the time .........

  • clAssic!!! fAbf*ckintAstic! x

  • Great song...one of their best.

  • I find it impossible to find just one. As soon as I hear one and then another and another, they all become the best. What I know I can say with certainty is they have not cut a song I don't consider one of their best.

  • had the album recording in 1990 while doing archeology in Guatemala...took it to trip to a caye in Belize...it was perfect.

  • I'm glad youtube exists because I didn't have cable TV in the 80's

  • Favourite English Beat Track...the flanged guitar makes the track...total class ;)

  • I saw Roger last night and he played this one nice song

  • I remember this very well, the 12 inch version is even better as you get to hear more whale song, thanks for posting this

  • i would kill for the 12 inch version....

  • @skawesome I have the 12", b-side doors of your heart (fab dub too!) is ALSO released on cd!!! on bonus cd greatest hits

  • @skawesome ,if you want this 12" on cd look for the beat greatest hits album MBPM More Beats Per Minute , some of them had a limited edition of 12" versions with it , 2 cds instead of 1 , ive got it and its quality , hope that helps.

  • Great song, great album though quite different than their debut. Never seen the video. U.S.A.'s MTV wasn'that cool...still not.

  • True, MTV sucked (and still does), but I saw the video on a video show called "FM TV" in Colorado.

  • Yeah I saw them on this tour as well - they did pitifully few songs from Wh'appen (I agree it's their best album); still a great show.

  • Saw The Beat on Wednesday in Northampton and they played this for the first time for many years.I was overjoyed, its a little pearl

  • good band.....didnt enjoy the speedo though

  • great album; grossly underrated. just one example of the untold and horrible story of true R&R

  • Awesome tune. Love it. It's just so dark and downtempo. Everyone seems to dig the first album the best. I like "Wha'ppen" even better.

  • God this is what good music is.....Music today for the most part sucks ass

  • Agreed. as do movies these days...

  • aside from 'mirror' and 'twist and crawl'

i would take it over 'i just cant stop it'

always have and will love it -

  • Wha'ppen is the most underrated album ever, in my humble opinion. And I'm a stupid American.

  • This was the shit remember how we felt with the uncertainty of jobs, leaving school, the war these kids today don't know what it was like back then....

  • they soon will . . .

  • I am floored that somebody was cool enough to post this amazing song and vid. Such great early Beat goodness. Sultry!

  • if you meet your girlfriend granddad Saxa akon, give him a high 5 and tell him he is a true legend

  • loved this band

  • Visit their website. The're are about 6 clips available for free download.

  • saxa is my girlfriends grandad, shes just as cute as him! x

  • I hope if you meet her granddad, you do your "we're not worthy" stance !!

  • get out of here!!!??? really send me a photo to believe u . and if he is your granpa hes still alive????''

  • The English Beat is still touring. Check out Dave Wakeling's site for his tour schedule. I will be catching his free concert tomorrow night in San Jose, California. I saw him last year in S.F. and he was awesome. He played English Beat, General Public, and his solo stuff. It was freaking awesome.

  • man I love English Beat, Specials , police and all them british ska bands

  • A great song from a great album.

  • Sweet! I love English Beat and General Public. Never would have known they had all these vids from back in the day-

  • Great tune! Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Was this part of a double A side with Too Nice To Talk To?

  • Nah. this was a double a side wiv All Out To Get You. I loved this band. Garf.

  • Many thanks for a fab post! Great band, great memories.

  • Wow! For a moment there, that reminded me of a Nirvana album cover...

    Cheers,

    Michael

  • over twenty something years and i've yet to tire of the english beat...they are still on regular rotation.
