i either want to go here florida a&m or california(maybe to many disasters) i live in chicago and im tired of this cold and hot weather i need warm year around
All of us bring some of our baggage with us wherever we go, I am no different. I had been to Hawaii maybe 6 times before I moved there and went to school. I loved it too, but I found out quick when I lived there that it was very cliquish so I found my clique.Hawaii de Boku no tomodachi ha Nihonjin deshita. Honto Hawaii no daigaku ga suki desu. I hope everyone enjoys it there but stay focused. Peace and good luck
I was a Japanese Studies major at UHM and I am also African American. I thought the Prof. were the best, I Ioved the academic setting. Off campus 8 times out of 10 I felt that the local people would like it better if I would return to the state I came from, UHM is a great school but I would humbly state if you are coming from mainland USA have thick skin and remember why you are there and don't let anyone stop you from getting your degree. Good luck
@1banryukyu wait, did u do anything to make the locals angry? me and my friend (both of us are black) took a vacation and the locals came up to us and made friends whom we still talk to today. and even this Angel girl made friends easy too. so im gonna assume that u made them angry or somethin...
I cant wait!! I'm going in the fall.....I'm leaving the mainland and I have it sooo good here...great freinds, family, job, life.... I just need more!!!!! Starting over on the islands!!!!
haha well m more interested now me nd my friend transfering fall 2010.. haha kinda makes me timid tho cause im the same major as her nd she says she has no free time to do extra curricular and i want to try nd wak on for football tennis and track.. i hope i can do it all...FML!!!
@LipSyncLover - your hesistation to approach any kind of person is your own problem, not the problem of on the University you go to. If your going to complain, rant to someone else.
I experienced the UH Manoa lifestyle in 1982. It's true, every word. As a Black female, I found the people, the culture, the awesome tradition of Aloha, simply magnificent. My only regret is that I left. And if I ever get the opportunity to return, it's "See Ya Mainland, I'm going home!"
@humanoid010k RIGHT im not going to lie I am black and I know tons of asians and white ppl and mexicans who I LOVE so much more than black people that I know and it goes either way race has little to do with how u act its who u spend ur time with

The meal plan wasn't bad at all.
I don't even think it is bad.....I am very picking on food.
Meal plan is not flavorable/tasty, but it is definitely sufficient
