@LittleGreenLEGOMen0 Well I used the suspension that came with the 8297 set which are designed for the weight of the vehicle. By altering the height and angle of the suspension in relation to the wheel I could weaken or strengthen it, but I couldnt weaken it anymore as if I did the car would not bounce back up again due to the weight.
@LittleGreenLEGOMen0 yes usually off road vehicles have soft suspension. but there is a company called "Teraflex" that makes jeeping parts mostly suspention. much of their suspention parts are much harder then normal jeeping suspention. but they seem to work alot better than soft suspention. i'm friends with a guy who works there. i've ridden in jeeps with stock suspention and his jeep that is all teraflex. they drive much smoother on bumps then normal stock jeeps
@LittleGreenLEGOMen0 mostly off road. but on road to when needed. (like when driving to where ever were offroading at) i can p.m you with some of their videos of jeeping. if you would like.
@jason160uk It is nothing from lego its a standard 1/10 scale rc motor brushed and brushless. They run from 7.2v to 11.1v mostly 7.2v They are used in rockcrawlers and moster trucks they run at a very wide veriety of wids(determens speed lower winds faster higher slower) The 540 motors i have all run over 23,000rpm they have a pretty high torque but you can stop them by hand (HURTS) they can wear out by improper care they also are bigger and smaller there are 380 540 550 600 just to name a few.
@RCCFanatic Sorry for the very late response, I just wonder have you tried these motors with technic? Is it compatible and would it not just damage the technic cogs and the like.
@DanielBLOG2 Have you read the comments, you think I havent tried.... that was the first thing i did try but they kept slipping and tearing at the gears.
@thelizard50 I have to say I have never heard of using differential for steering, only for the back wheels, so no i dont know, im quite the amatuer when it comes to this, this is my first ever remote controlled technic car, whats the benefit of using differential for steering?
well, the benefit is that steering is more precise, so you get less slip. but i think the only problem is that my steering is too weak. i need a more solid steering construction. your steering construction seems to be quite good. do you have maybe a construction manual for me ? :D what construction kit of lego did you use for your car ?( there are some some parts i' ve never seen^^)
@thelizard50 Now your asking haha, it would be great if I did have a construction manual. I dont get any slip from the steering I created on this model, when using the black plastic rods for the cogs, you just have to keep every section of it tied down otherwise they slip like crazy, take a close look at the images in my video, they show close up the steering construction. The kit I used was from the 8297 off roader. Are you using old technic? This set is from the newer style.
yes i'm using old thechnic. thats the problem i couldn't tie it down very good... so that may get me some trouble^^but anyway thank's for the response. i'll take a closer look... maybe i manage to make it better :D
Hi there, thanks for info. One of the reasons i got the 4x4 off roader was the information I found online about making it move with motors, using a large motor on the differential, I just couldnt get it to work, the gears kept slipping, but I think that just put me off the differential alltogether because not once did it occur to me about trying it on the medium motors !!
Hello, well not all that fast, runs better on a hard surface, the kitchen footage shows it as fast as it will go.
I tried changing the gear ratio to make it faster but there was not enough torque to push it, its quite a big car you see, but i was impressed how well the two medium motors pushed it, i have never managed to get a xl motor working due to it tearing away at the gears.
Are you going to put a rc nitro engine in it?

I'm sorry, but is there anyway for instructions?!
alexproductions13 3 months ago
@alexproductions13 lol Well not anytime soon im afraid, but thanks for asking :)
jason160uk 3 months ago
@jason160uk haha ok, and if you changed the gear ratio a bit you could get enough torque for it to be able to go offroad
alexproductions13 3 months ago
try adding a LSD, otherwise it will get stuck when offroad
kind18cch 3 months ago
@kind18cch LSD? your talking to a technic guy here lol
jason160uk 3 months ago
@jason160uk you just need some rubber band. search for "LEGO Technic Custom Flat-bed Truck - LSD Operation" in youtube, it explains lsd pretty well

have you tryed it on anything outside ?
chadro85 4 months ago
@chadro85 Well no, if it had more torque I would.
jason160uk 3 months ago
How come your using hard springs, is it because of the weight of the model? off road vehicles usually have soft suspension

8297 is one of the best Technic sets ever released!
So many awesome parts!

@MonkeySmist2 Well said, was my first ever set from the new modern technic so to me it was like being a kid again lol I love technic :)
jason160uk 6 months ago
Now you should put a 540 to the rear wheels that will get it going
RCCFanatic 6 months ago
@RCCFanatic a 540? Id like to know what that is, im guessing its nothing from Lego :)

i' ve got a question. do you use a differential for the steering, too?
thelizard50 1 year ago
@thelizard50 Hello, no differential on the steering, I used a number of cogs going from small to large to slow it down.

@jason160uk
ok thanks for your response. but do you know how to make a differential on the steering?

Use a differential or u will burn your motors, and it will go alot smother.
