i seriously think that Malaysia has lost an amazing filmmaker/director/screenplay writer. i won't name names here but i think a lot of the directors now in Malaysia who are so called popular are nowhere near as intriguing/interesting/enticin­g/enthralling/life-changing/en­lightening as Yasmin's works/art forms.

I am utterly shocked. This is a huge loss for Malaysian cinema. Ms. Ahmad was a fearless director who dared to explore the racial issues simmering beneath Malaysian society. She was beginning to gain international fame. Condolences to her family.
