Yeah when you're in deep despair over you're life falling apart, looking classy and glamorous is the farthest thing from your mind. As a survivor of depression, I should know.
yes she sounds like she's got the bit of a cold in these scenes...during episodes that are continuously straining. And to make things worse, this was weeks after Sloan's death. 95 was not a good year for Viki.
I remember this ep. precisely it aired Jan. 27, 95 because she learns the truth about David and then she heads over to dorian's next and confronts her about the scam and murder and that's when the secret and her splits come out.
Wow. I'm curious to know why you think this wasn't some of her best work? I think she was amazing in this. The character was at wit's end. She had lost her husband, her son was having an affair with her worst enemy whom she was convinced had truly murdered her father, AND to top it off she had just found out that David was not her brother. He world had literally fallen apart. I think her reaction was absolutely on target.
There's been so many storylines and so many emotional performances over the years that only ES can pull off...let's face it, the woman knows how to pull out dramatic performances to the best of her power and she's got a hall of emmy's to prove it. I guess that's why she's still standing while everyone comes and goes. She clearly proves that she's a survivor on this show. And Erika has said in interviews that to this day(after 40 years) that she's terrified of being fired lol
Erika Slezak is one of the best actresses i've ever seen -- Her work is always on point especially during the years of Viki's multiple personality storylines.
Wow, I was never aware of this storyline. It's definitely not apparent from watching the show today. I've never seen David like this before, either. Man, I'm going to miss Tuc.
Calling this heartbreaking performance by daytime television's most accomplished actress as "one-note" is like calling your "sour grapes" critique of Erika Slezak's acting ability worthy of a column in Soap Opera Digest. Both are preposterous.
wow, i had no idea david/tuc has been on oltl this long.

I worried about Erika Slezak during this performance. NOT HER CHARACTER "VIKI", mind you, the actress HERSELF! After this scene?
VIKI: "YOU WEPT OVER FATHER'S WATCH!!! What a laugh you must've had... Waiting for your nifty little secret Inheritance."
DAVID: "Viki you are making this sound so much worse than it is..."
VIKI: "HOW!!?? DAVID, HOW IN GOD'S NAME!!!??? COULD IT GET ANY WORSE!!!???" I told my mother, "she need to go lay down, before she have a STROKE!"

What a brillant scene. Michael Malone needs to come and I think he and Ron Cavarletti can really take this show to a new level.
