  • woman: its a bird

    man:its a plane

me: no u dumb asses its fucking super man

  • This pilot was done for $50,000, a princely sum for 1940. The anthropomorphic vulture is a bit of cartoon silliness conspicuously absent for the other films, a number of which dealt with more serious threats like Nazis, Japanese sabateurs, gangsters, natural disasters, and occasionally supernatural menaces like giant monsters, undead mummies, and aliens.

  • I remember the old cartoon superman, how he always had that back-lit change sequence

  • This is back in '41

  • How to be a super hero :

    1. Work with a newspaper agency

    2. Repeat step 1

  • we all know now where Dr.Evil got his clothing concept from. .... too bad mini me was a black crow

  • <3 the classics

  • The art style is cool, very pop art.

  • The most stupidest concept ever. There is a mad scientist who threaten the city, so the riporter goes there to interview him ? NO COMMENT :S SRY

  • nul !!

  • To those that couldn't hear:

It starts off with the narrator saying "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF".

And then it cuts to earth, and we hear the narrator saying "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"

  • LOL

  • You helped me realize i was deaf

  • ahh i managed to pick up 3 dvd "volumes" i guess you'd call them for around $1 each

  • loved the sound

  • thats great sound quality

  • Ahhh, now that's what I call motion picture.

Not like those half assed cartoons from nowadays in which character don't move any muscle.

  • BAD AUDIO.... PLEASE ADJUST..

  • i could not hear a thing

  • Definitely flying. Some of the earliest Fleischer stuff it's a bit unclear if Supes is flying, or just jumping a lot more than tall buildings.

  • I'VE SEEN THIS ONE!!

  • SILVER AGE SUPERMAN!!! YES!!!

  • Try Golden. Silver age is the 60s.

  • pure genius,...

  • I have one of these old superman cartoons on vhs sumwere as well, absoloute classics

  • I love this one! I had it on a VHS when I was little that I got at a dollar store. I used to watch it all the time. Thanks for the post.

  • the old super man can beat up the new superman because the new one gets beat up easily but the old one doesn't.

  • so how come instead of pushing the beam back he didn't just get out of its way and rush to its source?

  • Because it would've destroyed the building and more before he was able to reach its source.

  • The animation is really good... Dam good....

  • Nice.... I never knew of this version and that superman was raised in an orphanage.

  • Thanks 1 of my favorite cartons thanks for posting it.Wish cartoons of this era could match that quality,of action and story.

  • This episode was actually based on Nikola Tesla's supposed death ray.

  • Tesla would've done it right and destroyed Edison with the first strike instead of targeting some random bridge.

  • o man i have the same episode on vhs

  • ha ha they say he was brought up in an orphanage! what happened to the kents and smallville?

  • this cartoon looks mega-awesome

  • the scientist was voiced by the same guy who voiced popeye

  • Only superman can punch the hell out of a DEATHBEAM

  • I have a few of these cartoons, never seen this one though. Very cool. The animation and music for these are top notch. Cracks me up that they still portrayed villans as they did in those old weasterns. The sinister antagonist dressed with a tophat, cape, cane, and mustache would tie the damsel in distress to the railroad tracks.

  • How did she know where he lived?

  • Everyone should know that if there is a mad scientist threatening to destroy a city, he lives in a creepy observatory at the top of a ridiculously tall mountain overlooking the city.

  • lol

  • superman kicks ass

  • Geez, years ago I got a video tape for Christmas with Superman episodes on it, and this is one of them. GG on finding this one.

  • Ya I think I got the same one. Totaly awsome!

  • gow can you beat a laser? >: anyways, lois looked a lot better than she looks now with that triangular face.

  • You just can't do better than the artists who created this without modern day computers.

Keep posting old school animation like this and thanks for doing so.

  • If superman could fly why would he have to leap buildings in a single bound?

  • He can do both.

  • In the old school comics he couldn't fly just jump, until this cartoon where it was easier to make him fly and it went from there

  • It's SUPERMAN!!! More moving parts! More ELECTRICITY!!! Mmmnnaa see! MMNNNAAA!!!

    :P

  • I think my parents had this video before I has born. I've always loved it.

This looks like a job for Superman.

    What's that Clark?

  • Thanks for posting this, i really enjoyed it, i liked this cartoon when i was a kid, I loved the kind of real animation movement they had, superman looked more human. not like a semigod i liked that, thanks.

  • Wow, Lois gets her own plane? Lucky.

It's silly as hell, but this old show has some suprisingly good animation.

  • Yes it looks silly now, but back than with the technology they had it would be amazing. I bet in a couple of years Smallville will look pretty silly.

  • cool comic book movie adaptations at youtube account:

    MovieInsight

  • That's right. bitch slap that laser!

  • Still he's the MAN of STEEL...hey guys watch out for SUPERMAN 6 w/ Doomsday...see u there!

  • Another attempt to demonize Tesla

  • i still got this on video its so good!

  • Go superman, beat the crap out of that laser!

  • Awesome!
