Awwh! I asked my mother to do my BIG CHOP. She did it but it took her 3 hrs to come down stairs and do it. She never tried to talk me out of it she just kept saying "ur hair grows fast" I didnt get any negative responces with the exception of one person. The folks I believe dont like it just arent saying anything to me (which is cool). Good luck with ur beautiful journey. I WANT TO BELIEVE UR MOTHERS TEARS WERE TEARS OF JOY. L ; )

My mother had the same reaction when I first did the big chop in 06 however she loves my hair now b/c it's 18 inches down my back. It has grown so healthy and strong and that is the result we are going for. The process is a little ugly or hard to get use to at first but it definately pays off for anyone who is patient and sticks with it. My advice is when it gets a little difficult to manage or if you're not comfortable with the length just get braids or a wig for the time being.

It's hard for parents sometimes, isn't it? To let their children be free with their own decisions. I think your mom was very gracious about it though.

You are braver than me. It's been 6 months since my big chop and my mom has yet to see it b/c I know her reaction will be super dramatic. Every time I see my mom, I have extensions, a weave, or a wig on. I will have to do a video of my mom's reaction too.
