Mrs. Thomas wasn´t criticizing a religion. She was criticizing the government of a country that openly ignores International Law.

Laura Flanders is awesome. Killing innocent people in international waters gets less criticism than criticizing the country that killed those innocent people. Someone gets called an anti-semite for criticizing an oppressive government who kills innocent people simply because the country in question was founded because it's people had been killed by another oppressive government more than a half century ago. Why should HelenThomas retire, Israelis should get out of Palestine. What is the problem with this statement. Is everyone an anti semite and hater of the jewish people, if they think the palestinians have a right to live in the West Bank and Jerusalem, if you think such things you are a forced to retire and issue apologies on your way out.? I think she's old enough to see the bullshit, and she's just retiring because she's sick of it. She's 83 for cryin out loud. Time to retire and enjoy the remaining years she has! She's had a great career and contributed a lot.

It's amazing she's been in the game as long as she has, and it shows her dedication. At some point though you gotta just smell the roses before it's too late.

The irony of this is I'm Jewish (Hebrew really, i'm an atheist) but I'm a liberal also. I have some conservative ideas such as I think we should medically test on rapists and murderers, but oh well, I'm 99.9% liberal. Conservatives for the most part are idiots, and this is proof.

Criticism of Israel isn't antisemitism. Israel is a law unto itself and saying so isn't discriminatory. I can't think of anyone who would envy what has happened (and continues to happen) to the Palestinians. If you look at what Helen Thomas actually said, it's pretty hard to argue she was wrong. And it's a terrible thing to besmirch someone's character after her career simply for telling it like it is. I hope she enjoys her retirement.

To say jews go back to Europe... I can see that yes. Of course, if given exact context and everything that Helen Thomas said would be much better. It's gray as far as I see. But the statement she gave of "they're occupying Palestine" is a down right fact. The Palestinians have more of a right to the land than the Israelis.
