Entry and exit speeds are a day and night difference between these two tires. That's why you'll see stock classed cars run faster times than completely modified cars limited to street tires.

If you want to talk about how much it costs then you also have to figure in that the evo's value wont go up very much because of the stigma that goes with modified cars on the market, vs the gtr in stock form having a higher sale value but a much higher resale value as well, plus it would keep the value as a collectible, So in the end you may have paid less but you end up with something that has less monetary value.

@westwood08 Umm...I was using dollar and american prices. A new GTR is 90 grand, GSR is 35 grand...USD. All the mods I listed to bear the GTR is a bit under 17 grand...or a saving of 38 grand when new. If you do used. GTR 2 year old is 60 grand. GSR is 25 grand. Add in the 17 grand of mods and you save 18 grand still. 38 grand or 18 grand more of modifications and the GTR won't stand a chance for the same price. This is about pure performance per dollar...the EVO is hard to beat.
i, for one, think they did a great job. they set a goal and achieved it with realistic mod choices. this was fun to watch. it would be nice to have provided a quick look at a mod list in text form during the video, though.
As much as I want to rip this video apart I must refrain from doing it. I don't approve of the parts list for the X but I guess they kept it mild just for balance. Not bad but I have better.
They used the worst bolt on turbo option with crappy power most likely from the waste gate failures the early Garrets were having. The GTR is no where near a good daily driver in my opinion. My Evo X with Ohlins 10/10.5K springs rates rides way better than my 2010 stock suspension GTR. The Evo X is a much better DD and much better in the snow. The GTR is just insane performance, but an Evo done right can compete at a fraction of the cost with much less maintenance. A 9sec GTR is 40K mods.
@FidiAdrianosTV Because it was the older model of r35 gtr. 2009-2010. It has 480 hp. The one u were talking about is 2012 gtr with 530 hp. That model will smoke the evo badly. Oh and the 2013 model of the gtr will pump out 545 hp.
if you had an EVO on E85 you could gain allot more power and still have a daily driver. E85 is 105 octane. with it you can run higher compression, higher boost, and more advanced timing. it should spool a turbo faster so i think you can run a bigger turbo without the lag. just make sure you have a massive fuel system upgrade any time you run ethanol.

@Autoproz9000 and for good reason. to test acceleration and other performance stats you don't wan't the spoiler slowing you down. That's why most supercars nowadays have spoilers that can pop in and out (like the veyron or the MP4-12C). On a track the spoiler pushes down on the wheels to get more traction and therefore better handeling and cornering speed
1) the evo might be half the price, but the skyline is twice as sexy, much more rare, and its a fucking skyline.
2) the evo looks like some kids science project gone wrong. no matter how many cosmetic upgrades you perform, the mitsubishi will look like trash next to the skyline.

@LiviuPavel The Mitsubishi engines can handle 400hp+ on stock internals just fine.
The only transmission that is up to the job is the 5 speed manual.
I know previous Evos have thin paint, I'm not sure about the X.
And it may 4 doors, but that doesn't mean it's made to pick up the kids from school everyday.

If I had 100k to buy any of these cars, I would still buy the GTR. I wouldn't waste money and time on an EVO even if I had 100k.

@Autoproz9000 and for good reason. to test acceleration and other performance stats you don't wan't the spoiler slowing you down. That's why most supercars nowadays have spoilers that can pop in and out (like the veyron or the MP4-12C). On a track the spoiler pushes down on the wheels to get more traction and therefore better handeling and cornering speed

1) the evo might be half the price, but the skyline is twice as sexy, much more rare, and its a fucking skyline.
2) the evo looks like some kids science project gone wrong. no matter how many cosmetic upgrades you perform, the mitsubishi will look like trash next to the skyline.

this was stupid. A highly modded Evo vs a bone stock GTR (at that time was only producing 480hp).... yeah of course the modded out GT30 turbo powered, bigger brakes, nicer tires, lighter EVO is going to run a almost identical time as the GTR... ... DUH.

@kayu38 - I don't want to undermine your intelligence because I don't know what background or tech savy level you possess with working on and modding cars. But a GT30 turbo on a EVO is going to make that EVO pretttttty fucking fast.
That with supporting mods right there will make it just about as fast a the older year 480hp GTR. Stock tires on both cars. A Evo is quite a few pounds lighter then a GTR, and out of the box makes in the area of 300hp. The GTR needs 400+ hp to move it fat@ss

@bigvirgotube probably not too much the gt30r turbo is probably around 1500 dwnpipe was brobably only 300 cams intake and exhaust were probably around another grand or so. Considering the evo is in a totally different price range and is a four door id say thats pretty freaking awesome it did so well with such little tuning

GTR is a 3.8 turbo v6 vs EVO's 2.0L! gtr is a power car already compared to the ferrari and porsche while evo was built for rally and should be matched up w/ th sti. i drive an 08 evo gsr and love it. you trolls smashing the EVOS should stfu coz you aint'sh!t! as if you trolls are driving a GTR!!! keep dreamin and go use your GTR on GRAN TURISMO!
