This version is okay, though I don't think it's anything quite like the original "A Lotta Locomotion." The original was cute...but this is a little more skanky.
I really don't like this version. Starlight Express is my fave musical ever! And i could't believe they changed this song! It's really wierd!! At least I know not to see the new version now!
And then, after we heard "We have to feel more, we need to be certain, we need to be sure", a totally NEW beat (reminiscent of Spears or Destiny's Child) kicked in with new lyrics by David Yazbek, and I thought; "WHOA, I never expected that!" It never could replace "A Lotta Locomotion," but it was a REALLY good song.
I've kind of changed my mind. It gives the coaches a more contemporary sound and makes me want to scream at Lord Lloyd Webber: "WHY IS JOSEPH BACK... AGAIN!"
Yes too right.....but with the ORIGINAL version of the show, and when i say original I mean, the 1984 version....theres some things I like about the New Starlight Express like "Crazy" and "Engine of Love", its just sad that they had to take out songs like No Comeback, Theres Me & Call Me Rusty. Hows about he revamps the show again uses the original production ADDS the new song and does a revival but somewhere MASSIVE like the 02 Arena....
When I saw the show in Philadelphia, I was a bit shocked. I read the songlist through, and it was pretty much the same as the usual songlist. No major differences, just instead of "A Lotta Locomotion," it was "A Whole Lotta Locomotion." And I thought, it can't be that different.
I absolutely hate how they changed the song!!!!!!! Get the old version back, please! And although I don't understand a word of german, if it means I would hear it in the old melody, I would see the German version of this musical! The original version beats all these stupid ones! I HATE this!
I have to say, I agree with the pussy catdolls comment... but speaking as one of the girls in the video, It was incredible fun to perform and gave me a really tight bum! so thanks starlight express
I just gotta say, I feel sorry sorry for those girls! 1: The costumes are nearing horrific! 2: The way Control speaks to them...v. entertaining, but if he spoke to me like that I'd set Caboose on him or wreak him myself!

i think the song is amazing, starlight express thrives on being as modern as possible and by integrating this 'pussy cat dolls' style i think works really well

Is this from the UK tour? Or from the US tour? Anyone know the year? Doesn't look like the current UK cast but it's hard to tell! In any case, a great post.
