No comparison. Unique voice. Gracious personality. Multi-talented musician.
Best person that I've ever encountered in the music industry. Very, very, very cool. Embodiment of "cool" in an almost Jim Morrison (of The Doors) way.
Without them, swiss music scene would be nothing but a joke. And the best thing is, that even their acoustic set is equally powerful to me. They lost nothing over the years like so many other bands.
@MsGoogaMooga Nutnutnut ... Swiss Music Scene has Yello, The Dead Brothers, Coal, Celtic Frost, Sens Unik, Cataract, Primal Scream, Stone Roses and many others, so don't be silly ..!
@inspiralroses Primal scream, coal and stone roses swiss?? give me a break.. but nice you mentionned the dead brothers,i really like them, but i don't think they are really famous.. even in switzerland
altoughMsGoogaMooga, the swiss music scene is quite good, nothing to be ashamed
@pierrest I was only joking with the Primal Scream and the Stone Roses coming from Switzerland, I'd only have liked it very very much if they had been Swiss, would have made me kinda proud to have them in the boat as well as the others. But Coal IS Swiss indeed, aamof he is from Stansstad, brother of Reto Burrell, and them other broth is Philippe, from the band Marygold, all of them are a bloody bunch of Rockers, and yeah, long live the Dead Brothers and their kindalikes, e.g. The Maniacs.
@pierrest By the way, in a kind of Music scene, the Dead Brothers ARE very famous. Check out Voodoo Records and their brethren!!! C ya, have a good day, turn into Roses, enjoy yourself!
@pierrest No, with Primals and the Stone Roses I was just joking, but it would have been nice to know them hanging round just the pub next door, you know. With Coal, I wasn't joking, he belongs to the Burrell-Family, as you might know (Reto Burrell as solo artist, and Philipp Burrell with his band Marygold). btw, Swiss Music has even more to give: Dub Spencer and Trance Hill, e.g., who are not famous but very relevant as well!!! Ya know 'em? And Lee Scratch Perry lives in Einsiedeln, so he's CH.
@livershot Well, that one surely goes out for ye, mate. Think, what a dream team it would have been, if Noël would have done as well, and even Mani would have rolled in on drizzly sunday afternoons ...!
The 12" was released in spring 1986 on the Chicago based Wax Trax label. And, by using only the words "The Young Gods" cut into someones flesh for the cover art, it set the minimal art direction the band used up to the release of the Kurt Weill record . The self-titled debut lp used the words, "The Young Gods", in stone. The 12" of their second single "Did You Miss Me?" used gold. The third single, "L'Amourir", used brushed metal/steel. And their second lp, "L'Eau Rouge", used fire/red-yellow.
At the time of this release all three members were indeed Swiss; couldn't tell you about any of the more recent line ups after Comet replaced the original "keyboardist".
o que me deixa mais espantado.....é que com toda a tecnologia de hoje....com sinthi pc........tracks..........nao se faz algo tão genial.....ou seja .....talento é pra poucos.......long life tyg
as far as I know this is the 12" version. On the sleeve you see "the young gods" written/cut on human skin. and I don't think this song is part of an album
Niesamowicie fajny kawałek z niesamowicie ch***ym teledyskiem. Niemniej jednak industrial zajebisty!!!
Great track but lord almighty is this video embarassing - to any of us who thought of making something similar or who once thought this sort of thing looked cool!
Man, these guys kicked some arse in the 80's. Loved watching the original (roofer) drummer but I think he left. Lots of love from an ex-Shock Headed Peter.
I saw this video on the french channel of swiss tv back around 1986. In a programm called Juke Box. Due to the video I went to their first concert in Zurich and they played their first Maxi Single Envoyé about three or four times. Because that was all they had to offer at this time. It's the first time for over 20 years I see the video again. Still cool.
this triggers so many memories... foremost among the positive ones that this band helped me perfect my french
