You know what the mongoose did? It bit the jaw of the cobra so the snake could not open its mouth. And you could guess the mongoose could do it, as you could hear the commentator say the mongoose is a predator.

@per2006 For sure the mongoose is a predator..he was obviously confident he could take that snake for dinner. I don't think that snake would naturally eat such a large mammal, but I may be wrong? If that is the case, that might explain the snakes reluctance to strike the mongoose..snakes generally avoid striking to conserve their venom and rely more on posturing to frighten off intruders...obviously the snake underestimated this mongoose.
