  • The Build was really expensive because we used all toyota parts! it probably cost me in between 5k and 6k to perform an almost complete rebuild of the engine. Remember this is also at Toyota cost, retail would have cost close to 8k or 9k! no shit!

  • I was lucky enough to have a Toyota master technician living with me and was able to con him into making me two custom wiring harness! thats right not one but two custom wiring harness because I fried the first one offroading... It was lame but he took pity on me after a couple months of bugging and spent another 12-14 hrs splicing, extending and adding wires to a brand new harness the second time around. Thanks Matt Smith of Right Toyota, Scottsdale, Arizona!

  • We used the radiator, fan and shroud from the 1992 truck, the emissions control to the 1997 5vzfe engine, installed a custom Injen intake and had a magnaflow exhaust installed. We used a 2" body lift to account for new bigger intake! Custom crossover down pipe for the exhaust to maintain its stock exit position and stock hangers.

  • engine bolted right up the tranny even the engine mounts

  • @DrVdubbin54 what mods had to be made?? im doin the same thing to my 91 4 runner, nobody will sell me an engine without and exchange, i want a fresh engine, not a junkyard engine, and will my 3.0 manual transmission work with tis application??, i know some wiring is involved

    thanks

  • we got rid of the 3vz stock engine its a dog this one makes me much happier

  • what was the total price in the swap?

  • These 4runner came with 3.4L V6? I didn' t know that.

  • @pjtart They didn't. This is a very popular engine swap.

  • did he have a better fuel comsumption than de 3.0

  • hey bro nice work

im thinging about rebuilding my 3.0 but i want to do the 3.4 swap but i dont want get in to the stock harness deep

you think you can help me out with any info id greatly appreciate it

  • ure my hero for this! i had a 1990 and really wanted to do this when my heads blew but i ended up selling it and got a 2000 4runner... still wana get my old one and do this! was it hard? same trany?

  • It took about 3 weeks of work, but we hooked it up to be plug and play so a buddy of mine whos a toyota tech made a custom wiring harness for it and made it look as stock as possible except for the Injen intake I wanted. I also wanted a magnaflow exhaust for it which sounds fucking sexy at 75mph. The only change and believe me if you were running the 3VZ engine it will be a HUGE improvement anyways but I really want the TRD supercharger for it.

  • THis is completely unecessary and personal preferance but the only time i really wanted it was when I towed a trailer with 2 quads, a motorcycle, a grill plus 3 guys gear for the dunes for 3 days and it still wasn't necessary because the power was more than enough to drive comfortably at 80mph but the way i see it is why not!

  • yeah well my new 4runner has the 3.4 big diference to my 3.0 and i defenetly wana install the trd blower as well.... i was actually gona hook up a magnaflow this weekend but it was gona cost me around 340 for it because i wanted dual out pointing back with crome tips

  • $340 is definately worth it, I put the window down and listen to it all the time

  • thanks for the opinion i gues its that extra push i needed but ill start worcking on other stuff i need first and put money aside and get the magnaflow later... i got a 65 f-100 i wana start worcking on that too
