Hi, I don't know if you are the reader or not but, I recommend listening to some of the modernist poets reading their own verse, in order for you to better understand the rhythm of the poem. This sounds as if you are reading a short story, that is to say, it is read prosaically, still much better than a lot of the readings on youtube. At any rate, thanks for the video! God bless.

this is gay and for u to recite and post a video of such a bland, womanizing, and nature embracing faggot of a poet, u all should run away. U dont know good poetry. This is the most unintelligently written poem i have read in years. Being a learned scholar, i respect his novels and short stories, like Sons and Lovers, but his poetry as a whole is much like my wife's ba donk a donk when she doesnt shave it.
@underpoppies Lawrence wasn't gay. If he was I'd doubt he'd have wasted so much time with his wife and writting about heterosexual couples. He did, however, dabble in the love the dare not speak it's Name.
As for the poem, it was alright. Lawrence's novels and short stories were far superior to his poetry.
This poem is so great. I love all of D.H.Lawrence's works; presently he is my concentration of study; I have read 4 biographies and they all fascinated me. This poem has much hidden symbolic meaning. We have talked about it on a literature forum I am active in. This is very well spoken/recited. I will direct my friends to this video reading. Thanks so much for putting it up.
I never heard this type of voice when reading... I always hear more monotone, stern talk... with all his works... well, I loved this :)

I've always loved the line---------
"He drank enough
And lifted his head, dreamily, as one who has drunken,"
