  • I never heard this type of voice when reading... I always hear more monotone, stern talk... with all his works... well, I loved this :)

  • I've always loved the line---------

    "He drank enough

And lifted his head, dreamily, as one who has drunken,"

  • This is one of my favorite poems, so well recited.

  • this helped with my homework lol

  • Hi, I don't know if you are the reader or not but, I recommend listening to some of the modernist poets reading their own verse, in order for you to better understand the rhythm of the poem. This sounds as if you are reading a short story, that is to say, it is read prosaically, still much better than a lot of the readings on youtube. At any rate, thanks for the video! God bless.

  • I remember studying this poem among many others by D H Lawerence during my years at university. One of my favorites!

  • Great poem with a very deep meaning...but a unbelievable horrible reading. didnt you recognize that the poem has its own rythm?

  • well, why don't you let me in on a good poet and some well written poetry. I would love to be educated :0)

  • you suck

  • Ha ha ha . . . What a knob you are!

  • "womanizing?" I believe he was gay... and then I saw "Being a learned scholar..." la te da. That made me laugh.

  • @underpoppies Lawrence wasn't gay. If he was I'd doubt he'd have wasted so much time with his wife and writting about heterosexual couples. He did, however, dabble in the love the dare not speak it's Name.

As for the poem, it was alright. Lawrence's novels and short stories were far superior to his poetry.

  • @jayjaybee23 you are a moron.

  • I LOVE THIS POEM. Its magical. The reading was fantastic. I listened three times already

  • Glad you like it-I like this to

  • Thank you -great reading

  • Thanks.

  • I like his Mountain Lion,if you have it Sir.

  • Sorry I have not - but will add it to my list.

    Any suggestions always welcome.

D.H.Lawrence is a fine poet so adding more will be a great pleasure

  • This poem is so great. I love all of D.H.Lawrence's works; presently he is my concentration of study; I have read 4 biographies and they all fascinated me. This poem has much hidden symbolic meaning. We have talked about it on a literature forum I am active in. This is very well spoken/recited. I will direct my friends to this video reading. Thanks so much for putting it up.

  • Perfect timing. Good recitation.
