Yikes, your tutorial is quite simplistic. All of Dallas Green's song are not at all difficult to play and this song is not different. If you want to play the song exactly like the original you need to practice lots of hammer ons on pull offs - Dallas is fairly clever at this. The slide part at .58 is easy - simply keep the Em7 chord and slide up the ring/index finger to 7/5 & 9/7 position on D&G strings, then back to Am (all relative to the capo on 2nd). A metronome helps with this if needed.
to play the bit at 58 seconds you need to like aggressively palm mute a 2/4 on the G then play the first fret on the b the a slide on the G again but from 4/5 and then play the 3rd fret on the b, sounds alright to me
the little slidey bit: slide up a whole tone to B (9th fret - D string) and D (7th fret, G string) then slide up to C# (11th fret D string) and E (9th fret G string)
The sliding part your talking about after the E minor, doesn't he just do something like 2nd fret on the G string and first fret on the B string and slide those up a whole step and then go back to the A minor?
Great tutorial, thanks. I second the opinion on getting higher quality equipment to make these tutorials even more helpful!
not too sure but that slide you're talking about sounds like it could be a slide from the 5th to 7th on the d string then 5th on the g string followed by a slide from 7 to 9 on d and 7 on g. not sure if that made sense but I tried.
and thanks for getting these lessons up so quickly im dying to cover some of the new songs =)
thanks for all your tutorials sir! But one day I hope you invest in a high def camera, because on some of your videos, it lags lots and I can't quite follow where your fingers are when your talking.
@TheBlizzard90210 Thanks very much... couldn't agree with you more on the camera. I've thought the in built webcam and crappy microphone as 'enough to get by' but i guess there's no point wasting time on tutorials if you can't hear or see them properly. I'll have a look now on amazon and try order one.
@mapeterz Awesome, ya it would make it so much better if it was clear, crisp, HD video. You don't know how much it means to lots of people to have someone like you show tuning and do these tutorials. I know nothing about playing guitar, but if someone shows me how the strings should sound and what tuning they should be in and what the chords are, I can sometimes play something that resembles the song. And that is, after all, what it's all about and what makes it all worthwhile.
