The best bang for the buck has to be the Orion shorty. It is a 2x for $50.00 and looks fine. It is not a TeleVue, but for that price there us no better Barlow.
the green eyepieces are the TeleVue eyepieces and they are great. However i wouldnt recommend to beginners because they cost 300 up to 700 US dollars.
Wish I'd found your videos before I ordered my first scope, but I guess it may not have made much difference, as I knew when I ordered it, that it was a tester....I'll either get the bug and upgrade within 6 months, or I won't and I'll just ebay the scope and filter I've got. In fact, thinking about it, it's probably a good thing I didn't find your vids, as I'd probably have ended up spending more, even though I don't know if I'll get the bug yet.
All you need to get the bug is a good look at Jupiter, Saturn or maybe the Pleiades. Jupiter is visible at about 2am in the south-east(If you're in the northern hemisphere).
If you've got a reflector, this'd be a good target too watch?v=DD3Nxu-RbvM
@AkiThePirate I went with a skywatcher 130m reflector. It's been cloudy since I got it and I've only had chance to aim it at the moon. I also live right next to an army camp that has flood lights on all night, and haven't had chance to take it to my friend's house which is at least 5 miles from any artificial light. Looking forward to that though, next clear night. I'm now thinking I'll stick with the 130 for a while, until I can afford a 200 or bigger.
@expertvillage Hey whats your views on the celestron 1.25' eyepiece kit? they are priced quite low! do u have any idea about the quality of these eyepieces?
