  • lol...I don't think we ever grow up, just smarter...

  • Funk Aircraft Company of Coffeyville, Kansas started making and selling the kits. Delbert Heusinkveld was installing the 100 HP Ford FlatHead V8 Engine in Ford N series tractors. Funk started to make and sell the Kits for the V8 Convertion also. About 5000 V6 Kits where sold but only around 100-200 V8 Kits where sold also some very rare Overhead valve V6 kits. The numbers are estimated due to production records lost in a fire. Many kits where installed at the dealer as OE. Production stoped 1953

  • @wrawson Needless to say An original 8N Funk Ford Flathead V8 Conversion are extremly rare. The conversion in this video is a repro the 8N tractor is a 1949 Ford. The V8 flathead is from (I belief if memory serves me) A 1953 Ford car. My father did the conversion by scratch except for the Transmission mounting plate. All other modifications where enginered and made by my Father. I will try to post some Pictures or video of the completed tractor soon.

  • you are a dumb fuck!!!! that is a very rare engine i own a 1949 8n and would pay large amounts for that engine and ur shitting it up!!!!

  • @KevMods 8N Funk V8 conversion. The Type of conversion done on this Ford Tractor is a replication of the 8N Funk V8. For others that want to know. Starting in 1948. Ford 8N Tractor owners wanted to use a 3 bottom plow instead of a 2 bottom plow but the 8N did not have enough power. Ollie Glover of the Glover Equipment Company in Milford, Illinois started using Fords 95HP Industrial V6 Engine in Ford N series Tractors.

  • @KevMods i dont see how doing a simple doughnut is hurting the motor, he doesnt have the throttle pinned wide open. so go to hell.

  • @KevMods what does it matter to you, its his engine

  • all fun and games till someone get,s an eye poked out!! LOL

  • give er the wellie ladd.........

  • Lowest RPM donuts in history. XD

I'd love to see a...500 RPM smoking burnout!

  • Now thats what i call JDM!

  • Anyone using the converted tractor must take it easy with the transmission because the internal parts can't take all of the torque from the flathead V8

  • One wheel drive!

  • uh, when i get the conversion in my 8N done, I am going to try this! Yes I blame your father!! LOL!

  • se divierte el abuelo,, y la familia,,,,

  • ei legallllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • muito legal quero construir o meu um dia

  • That is super cool seeing grandpa have fun like a kid. I hope i'm cool like that when I get old. that looked like an original install.

  • lol I can do that without V8 and without snow :P

    but good job ;)

  • Cool. Build and have fun, v8's rock especially flatties. Keep on buildin!

  • lol...some of us will never get old...lol "kid at heart"....thanks for sharing!

  • my favorite is the FUNK 6. very rare.

  • Some guys never grow up, me included!

  • your just using the brake any half wit could do that on a stock tractor running on half its cylinders

  • makes me wanna put a Flathead V8 in my old 8n

  • Neat project! Post more video's after she is done. Good Luck

  • I think old Harold may off had a bit of that funny leaf tobacco from the back paddock !!!

  • was fürn schwachsinn

  • thats right, these old guys know whats up!

  • Ford actually built a number of these V-8 tractors in the Forties and fifties. I have a '50 8N V-8 factory conversion. They used the F-1 pickup engine. This looks like the same engine. Dual water pump, dual core radiator set up. Ford did it for a power boost over the competition. For whatever reason they didn't catch on, so they dropped the option. Cool old tractors and pretty scarce these days. Donuts in the snow, LOL! I'll have to try that this winter. Looks like fun.

  • Ford never had anything to do with these conversions. They never came from the factory like this nor did the dealers have anything to do with them. They were kits offered to owners. The Funk brothers kind of started it,but soon after many people when on there own to build them. An Actual "FUNK" conversion is a rare find since not too many were made. You can tell by the FUNK name being cast into the oil pan. I've even seen a Lincon v-12 engine in one.

  • I've seen one before in person they are bad ass!

  • looks like you guys are building a funk ford.. cool tractor.. looks like fun.lol

  • grampa rocks!!!!

  • surreal

  • Grandpa havin' fun the good ol' way!

  • so are you going to do some more this year if so make another vid

  • Yes I have two vids I have to get time to put up lol

  • this i funny stuff here. who says grandpa needs a snowmobile when he has a v8 ford. lol

  • borin yawn

  • Nice that looks like fun lol:]

that ol flathead sure sounded good with those straight pipes hehe

  • I will ask my father.

  • Nice job with the swap. Got a question for you tho, were you able to retain use of the proofmeter after the swap or is it just taking up space now?

  • lmao!! :D

  • well depending on which flat head it has

and looking at the cylinder heads seeing that the coolent pipes come from the front not the middle

    if that flathead is stock

    it only has 85 hp

  • nice ride XD

  • Only in America! Example of what makes this country great!

  • hahaahahahahah

  • Looks stock. Funk Brothers Aircraft offered a V-8 conversion for Ford 8N tractors back in the day. Looks like one of those.

Cool. Very hard to find now. Shame the twin vertical pipes are gone...

  • haha thats kick ass

  • pretty good...NOT

  • is this a hard conversion to do? Is there info available on how to do it?

  • pshhh, more like gotta love individual rear brakes

  • Gotta love the Funk Ford conversion...

  • that thing looks hard to shift! dang but thats a weak motor prob under 200hp

  • LOL the original flat head is wuss compared to that thing.

  • Compare it to the original engine though, it was under 30 hp!

  • lol... farmers and their tractors

  • This ia pretty awesome..

  • this is by far the best drifting video on youtube

  • @elliottbradshaw no drift?

  • sh1t gramps

  • my forth gear almost stalls when you start

  • nice what gear are ya in?

  • He is in fourth gear

  • yea thats the first tim ive seen a v8 in a tractor, our 95 horse kubota has somthin way smaller thn tht. nice tractor

  • That's the first time I have ever seen a V-8 in a tractor. That engine wasn't anywhere near breaking a sweat!!

  • Excellent video! I just bought a V8 car art poster from cartech49 dot gr. Great fun art for my garage wall!

  • That is an absolute hoot. Who said the 8Ns were just for work. They play well too!

  • its lyk off san andreas

  • donuts in a tractor! haha

  • lol. great vid.

  • tnx

  • no strombergs? :)

  • I forgot to add in that it was a Flatty.

    It sounded like crap though.

  • lol ... we where very pleased with the nice pleasant rumble and roar from the flat head we used it is stock thou and has the 8n ford tractor exhaust ...

  • I love the one wheel braking.

There was a 2n at a Ford show down here with a supercharged V8 out of a 51 truck. It was going donuts on grass.

  • That would be a great tractor to see.

  • Top speed? It's a Flathead V8 so like 50 somthing?

  • The engine would take the tractor that fast but the gears aren't setup for that kind of speed. You wouldn't be able to steer very well without a bit of modification to the front end.. lol

  • So say in a straight line with current gearing, fifty or so?

  • I think top speed would be about 20 mph, if you changed the transmition to a sherman you could get 25 mph, the tractor is just not geared for any great speed

  • if you dont mind, how much money /time is in a neat machine like that? melvin

  • I would have to check with the owners. I only assisted my father with the woek and did most of the wiring. I have some new pictures and video I have to edit and I will try to post this week. I will ask the owners for a rough figure.

  • hurray for you!!!melvin

  • is that a funk brothers, or a random conversion? very cool machine!

  • It is based on the Funk Brothers Conversion. But isn't a funk. Funk Brothers had a very nice full kit for converting 8n to V6, with the V8 they also had a kit that was a little harder to implement. This conversion is a custom one. We did use an adapter plate and "u-frame" plate that was purchased and is similar to the Original Funk Kit. All other aspects of the conversion where custom made by my father, the one driving in the video.

  • broom broom... whoops out of fuel!!!

  • the birth of the doughnut

  • Put a blower on that sucker and do a wheelie LOL

  • We thought about putting a wheelie bar on it. He was in fourth gear most of the time while I was filming lol

  • My pop's got an old 9N (I think) with a bucket attachment. He used to take me for rides on it when I was little.

  • you need a limited slip dif.

  • cant have one in a deal like that, notice the individual wheel braking? that helps em turn in the field.

  • nice, ive always wanted to do a ford funk conversion

  • It is a real nice machine I will post pictures and video of it completed in a couple of weeks. It was a dream of the Owner's Al and Bobby Lee Gorg to have one for a ong time.

  • thats awsime and you got one hell of a good runin tractor there but i can do tighter faster donughts on my stock 49 ford 8n

  • 49 Ford 8N's are a real good tractor.

  • why dies he suck at driving so much

  • It's a tractor dipshit.

  • funny old style "doughnutting" :-) and nice engine roar!!

  • Thanks
