It feels nostalgic to see this video, mainly because when I first knew of Ridly, I would pronounce it "Ride-lee" before too many people started pronouncing it "Rid-Lee".

If I did a countdown on all Super Metroid Bosses, Spore Spawn would probably be the bottom.

You have to feel sorry for Crocomire. You pelt him full of missiles and knock him into lava, and yet he goes out of his way to swim to the other side, break the spikes, and drops healing items for his murderer. How many bosses do that?

Hmmmm... So what is Zero Mission's "Spore Spawn"? It was related to the other "Bugs", like Imago The Wasp, and the larvae... I think...

According to the Metroid Wikia, the "Spore Spawn" of Zero Mission is just a bunch of plant tentacles that grow all over that sector and catch prey to suck out their blood. The actuall boss is a bunch of these tentacles that have captured one of the giant larvas, growing certain plants on it. Once the tentacles are all destroyed, the larva is released, and after regaining its strength, evolves to the next boss, the big wasp thing.

Well good Sir, the wikia also has an answer to that. The plant enemy from Zero Mission is not really called Spore Spawn. It's official name is "Kiru Giru" (Imago Larva).

It is probably also known as Spore Spawn, because that thing is most famous, and ever since then alot of 2D Metroid games had some sort of parasite-plant boss. Like the X-infected plants in Fusion, that look like a Chozo statue. People just refer to the plant enemis as that game's "Spore Spawn" alot of times.

FYI: Phantoon does that one attack EVERY time after you hit it with a super missile. EVERY TIME. If you don't know what i'm talking about, watch what attack it uses after it gets hit by a super missile

i tried this game once, phantoon was propably my favorite boss, just because that from what ive seen, the easier way is to actually use the charged beam rather than missiles

he does a different pattern after he gets hit depending on what you hit him with

Look for "Super Metroid No damage run (part 5 of 10)". It shows that getting a perfect on Phantoon is possible, but requires luck.

To people who have played Spyro 3: Did you notice that the first boss (Buzz) and Crocomire have similar types of deaths?

(1) Cause of death: boiled in lava,

(2) Death looked painful,

(3) They struggled to survive, but both died all the same.
