  • is it me or does bending only make these sound bad? I think they sound great un-messed with, but that's just me...

  • Backround so 2006... Sounds so 1987

  • @question88917 - THANKS!

  • @question88917 actually It's 1986

  • I love that all my old bent videos have a white background.. so 2006

  • @StickyX10 - the machine still works great.. all the midi functions.. everything.. just some blasted out sounds!

  • Ive got one thats not working, im gonna sell it i think. I dont know how to do this bending stuff, cool as it is.

  • a year or two from now, we're going to hear circuit bending sounds in popular songs on the Popular stations. Beyonce and Fallout boy are going to be talking about circuit bending, and then all the nerds be like "wait! it was ours, OURS!"

  • Beyoncé can talk? I thought she only ever did thát with her arse.

  • @augustusmanor beck started it,fucking corperate bastards

  • HAHAHAHA, you called me a cunt..

p.s. I have ruined a few of things for people over the years, they seem to be happy with them.

  • stop clinging to the past old man

  • Haha cool i got one too!!

  • The possibilities are literally endless!

  • BTW: From 3:00 onwards You turned the sh.. out of the motherf.....!!! :)))

  • My first drummachine ever was a YAMAHA RX21. My second was this, the 505. Respects for the sounds You twisted out of it!!

  • I have utterly no skills in electronics but I was wondering if I could achieve similar results feeding an unbent 505 through the audio inputs of an ER1 MkII?

  • dope son

  • you are a fockin genius!!!!!!!!

  • I've never been much for bending drum machines. I think the do m,uch better with a distortion or something behind them. But you do get some interesting sounds out it I must say.

  • Cool sounds..need to work on the beat programming. They are kind of boring..simplistic.

  • those are the pre-programmed beats kid... check my style.. myspaceDOTcom/potar

  • Nah, these are autistic, punk beats. Horrible but great. I say roll with the stilted riddims.

  • shieeet! i've seen 505's cheap and always thought they're no good for anything... gotta catch one now.

  • I almost don't get it. Do circuit benders grow up near power lines?

  • That is pretty amazing, circuit bending a roland! Even if I was quite skilled at circuit bending, I would still be a little put off by messing with one of those!

  • this is pretty intensee

  • Great job man!

I would never risk to touch an old synth.. but you've done the right way! :_D

  • That's the most usuable 505 bends that I've heard yet. Nice job!

  • very ,very cool...

  • shit is tight as fuck. i hope you have more beats.

  • that's too simple! LOL kind of cool though!

  • Great tunes! lol

  • Nicely done!

  • wow man i never thought circuit bending can actually sound good!

  • hey how about 555 chips in line with each other does that create weird sounds i think it does but i havent tried it yet

  • yes it does, I'm looking for good inst. to use, I have tried it on a couple cheapie toys with decent results.. just scored a Speak And Math and hope to use a 555 in it. I'll be sure to upload whatever the results are.

  • thats awesome! you created a great dj tool!

  • uh yeah. cus the tr-505 wasnt a great dj tool already, was it?

oh wait it yes it was.

i just dont get this. any sound you want, you can make it. with hardware and (increasingly) software. i dont really see the skill here? you find a machine that makes sounds, then get it to make ... uh, sounds.

why not just hook the 505 up normally and just use effects processing/filtering to make the exact sounds you want (not approximations)?

  • Because the trial and error and surprise is where the fun lies. Lighten up, and grow an imagination.

  • oh yeah, beacuse soldering isn't a skill, amking all the switch's fit in a tiny case isn't a skill, making beats with noise, not a skill?

why use effects and software if I can modify an instrument to make new and interesting sounds?

You sound like a lazy clod.

  • I have a Tr 626- I think tomorrow, I am going to get drunk in the morning, then set to it after seeing this! cheers big ears!!

  • Nice bends man :)

  • Thanks much.

  • Interesting. i especially liked the part between 3:40 and 4:01. Reminded me of the old C64-Snare.

But please: DON'T EVER circuit-bend a 303 !! Cause i think that thing is made for it's simple sound!

  • Personally i think this is awesome. If people dont like it f*ck off. Its about the people who do appreciate it, and obviously there are quite a few out there or there wouldn`t be so many circuit bends on youtube and/or the web.

Now if i could just get the balls up to break open my 303...

  • Thanks for your support!!

The 303 has some awesome bends inside it, if I could only get my hands on one!!

  • Recently acquired an old yamaha keytar, which i`m in the process of bending. Think i'll keep the 303 to one side for the mean time =]

  • I do know how to play the drums you fucking asshole!

  • lol when nerd meets hater :D

Don't take it serious its easy to hate things you don't understand!

  • Agreed.

  • This is aggrotech glitch core and bad casio demos. This newfound "discovery" that if you rewire a speak'n'spell it will sound retarded doesn't need philisophical explanations. Its just bad waste of brain energy.

  • its a pitty the u "bending" guys dont undertad shit of electronics and come here tryn to proof that u are some kind of experts lol tsk tsk u suck

  • youre obviously disillusion about circuit bending.

Theyre not trying to com on her "to try to prove their experts" you tard.

its about sharing the sounds you come up with to others who are interested in it.

Great generalisation though, ya fucking moron.

  • yeah but it's not some "mysterious wisdom" being revealed. if they understood more about electronics and the devices they were working on it wouldnt be so much trial and error or getting it to "make sounds it's not supposed to make". it would just be electronics.

the fact that you could make any of these sounds relatively simply in *many* different audio programs also makes it a bit pointless...

  • Its not about using software, its about the fun of modifying a circuit to make it do something it wasnt intended too.

Its just a hobby man, you dont need to know anything about electronic engineering, thats the beauty of it.

Trial and error is the whole fun in doing this.

Have a look at this amazing bend, code: v=erRyhfIlHhs

  • you my friend are clueless.

would you rather draw a picture with a pen, or with software?

  • good job!

  • yo man, 2:58 to 3:36 is fucking gnarly, keep it up it sounds nice and gritty

  • sounds great bent

  • HOT HOT HOT

  • All that has done is turn 16 unusable sounds into 72 even more unusable sounds. If you even dared use that thing live you'd blow the system and everybody's eardrums. I have a TR-626 and use it purely to act as a TR-909 programmer with Battery 2 and it does that fantastically well.

  • I have used it live and the response was pretty good.. Some people liked it, some hated it. That's noise music for you.

"Unusable" is in the ears of the user, fuck the listener.

  • Word!

  • ive used these live, and the hr-16... did fine going through a PA.

  • you took something that sounded alright and made it sound shite. well done.

  • I got a 505 and a 303 I've bent TI shit. I'm dumb what's a patch bay? Can it lessen the chance of me destroying my Rolies?

  • I like the bends, I think this is the video that inspired me to buy the 505 from eBay a few days ago but, why didn't/don't you use a patchbay? It would give you a lot more bends with ease of use aswell. It's ICs 6, 7 and 8 that are good for patching apparently, so just make connections from them to a patchbay and you'll be rocking the 505 like hell. That's definitely what I'm gonna do in a week's time. :D

  • This was the first machine I bent, before I knew about patch bay's. Even now I don't like to use patch bay's cause the cables get pretty expensive!

  • Yeah, there's a problem if you haven't got access to cheap patch leads. I'll probably post my 505 up here once it's done. I'll PM you about it.

  • cool, I'd love to see it!!!

  • how about programming something with the machine?

  • What, and give up the good stuff... or didn't you hear the intro to the video?

  • Roland, Korg, Akai, Yamaha, CASIO!!! etc. should make new gear that comes with bends like these....I for one would buy them. . . Oh yeah...and props on no crashing.... I want to bend my MC505 but I'm scared I'll wipe out my rom or kill the cpu

  • cool work.

i own a tr-626 and have nothing to do with it.

i think i make this too if i borewed.

actualy i use the programm "Reason", its sounds like

    this.

    (sorry 4 bad english)

  • fukin great.....

Bob moog Dance on your grave.....!!!!

  • This guy does nice work on drum machines.
