  • i dont care who's better, his music makes me orgasm just sittin here.

  • piano player is pretty awesome

  • wtf? that sax looks like a mix between a soprano and an alto lol.. a small alto?

  • @15runninriot haha its a soprano man you can get them curved

  • @TranesJazz Just to avoid the curse of being compared to Kenny Gorelick, that talentless sack of dog feces? ;)

  • @DarkeningSkies1 haha yeah exactly man. That retard has single handily corrupted Jazz...stupid Kenny G

  • This rhythm section grooves hard, lovin it

  • Flawless.

  • More swing than a frigging playground.

  • Just a terrible player. Horrible at jazz.........

  • His trumpet probably costs more than your car... true story ...

  • lmao at the end. "you know uh, he's doing pretty good. make him get you a real one!" *points to sax*

  • I watched this show when it aired and I was so pissed that Wynton barely had 5 minutes. Robin Williams was also a guest that night, and they pretty much wasted the entire second half of the show talking to him and plugging some crappy movie that flopped. They should've let him play two sets and talk to Letterman instead of Williams pointlessly eating up air time.

  • What a good jazz. This song is from the "he and she" album. Wynton's the best trumpeter alive.. he's complete.

  • haha i would not want to be in the house band having to play the outro after wynton goes

  • Last time he was on... he won 8 grammys...

  • It's Carlos Henriquez on bass. Very nice acoustic gut string sound.

  • whats the name of that bass player

  • @penutbito It's Carlos Henriquez on bass. Very nice acoustic gut string sound.

  • @JakeBotts if peeing your pants is cool, then call me miles davis!

  • i hope wynton lives for 200 years.

  • what a sweet performance! that bass player knows wassup

  • the guys in Letterman's band there must have almost had a heart attack! Lol

  • anybody knows the name of this song?

  • Winton e` il meglio di tutti come trombettista jazz e su questo credo che non ci piova... Ma sempre co' sto dixieland!!!! Basta!!!!!!!! Siamo nel 2010!!!!!!!

  • I love his harmonic language.

  • thank you for uploading this...it was taken down the last time it was up in 1080p HD (could you do an HD upload?)

  • wynton may be the greatest trumpet player of all time...and if u dont agree, tell me who u think is better

  • @frostywhipcream Clifford Brown

  • @frostywhipcream Miles

  • I would put him 2nd behind Louis Armstrong, and right ahead of Miles. But who's counting?

  • @frostywhipcream Clifford Brown but Wynton is amazing.

  • @frostywhipcream he is the best at the time, but remember where he learned... dizzy, clifford and freddie to name a few

  • @frostywhipcream

    miles davis?

    lee morgan?

but then again its not a competition haha

  • @frostywhipcream maybe maynard ferg, but what do i know.

  • @frostywhipcream Clifford Brown, but it's a question of taste, since there are no best trumpet player of all time.

  • @frostywhipcream No ONE is better than him, but i would say Jazz, Louis Armstrong.....Classical, Maurice Andre.....but i say this with the caveat that music is not a competition.....but as far as anyone out there now....Wynton=most complete

  • @frostywhipcream well actually I absolutely love wynton's playing and i have nothing but the highest respect for him he is one of my trumpet idols but I think that Rafael Mendez is better.

  • @frostywhipcream miles davis, maynard ferguson, louis armstrong. You can't name a greatest trumpet player ever, because all of the greats have a signature trademark and a sound that can't be done the same way that they do it. Like maynard ferguson, he could squeel all day. Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis both have the sound that can't be created again and revolutionized jazz and blues.

  • @nicola91212 Well said. Amen.

  • @frostywhipcream miles davis, louis armstrong.

  • @frostywhipcream dizzy gillespie, arturo sandoval, claudio roditi

  • @frostywhipcream Thats an easy one MILES DAVIS!!!!! LOL come on now

  • @frostywhipcream Well I do like Wynton a lot, but there have been many, MANY great jazz trumpet players. Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, these guys are all wonderful! I think you should really give them a listen if your into the whole jazz scene.

  • @frostywhipcream umm, maybe because there is NO greatest trumpet player? So he can do everything? He has a better piccolo sound than Maurice Andre? He can play higher than Wayne? MF? He can bebop harder than Dizzy? He's a greater lead than James? He can play orchestrally? Better than Bud? Phil Smith?

get it? it's all opinion. when will people understand that.... jeez.

  • @inf1nity Allen Vizzutti!

  • @frostywhipcream Freddie Hubbard in his prime (1964-ish), Dizzy circa 1950 and Roy Eldridge throughout most of his career could all smoke Wynton technically, almost everything in the style in which he plays is drawn from Armstrong, and though noone would make the argument that Miles could get anywhere near Wynton on a technical level, his 50 year career as bandleader/composer alone put him up in the pantheon of greats... however, as inf1nity points out, it is all personal opinion anyhow.

  • @frostywhipcream i dont agree because the cradle of the greatest jazz trumpet player was Louis Arm........suchmo.

  • @frostywhipcream Stupid question... what the hell defines "greatest"

  • Comment removed

  • Miles Davis,, Louis Armstrong,,

  • @huwillia They gone my friend they gone away

  • Man I love wynton. Two things, he seems to be making backwards progress in jazz. Seeing mike Manerni play put this into perspective. Also ever since his sound has fuzzier and less focused, partly because of monette trumpets, he uses mutes more often. Pity. I still like his playing though.

  • Dave's comment on the soprano saxophone was hilarious! I love to hear Wynton play.

  • greatest musician of our time. People will be studying Wynton Marsalis for the next 300 years.

  • @garzaedu I dont understand why you will be saying studying. I think speaking of him because he is our embassador of jazz. He plays music that we rarely hear anymore. Music of our beiggings of jazz. The very roots of jazz.

  • @boricuatrumpet69 Understand? People still study Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, etc. Their genius is still being explored to fully understand their intent in writing what they did. Wynton Marsalis is on a level that has him in a league of his own. His choice for using certain notes, his rhythmic genius, his range, his TONE, etc. He's a musical voice that'll be heard for centuries to come...the embodiment of what everyone thinks is unbelievable in regards to a musician and an intellectual.

  • @garzaedu agreed but unfortunately thats not true, this generation will study little homos like justin bieber

  • This is a real toe-tapper.

  • just wonderful. sublime piece of music. thanks for the treat

  • Love this! Soooo great!!!

  • Sweet.

  • Who's in the band?

  • dan nimmer-piano, walter blanding-sax, carlos henriquez-bass, ali jackson-drums

  • Nice!
