  • when my choir sang it, half of the guys cried during the song.

  • El Dr Stroope anota "Passionate and Expansive" a 60 negras por minuto. Esta interpretacion es muy interesante. A esta velocidad las tres partes de la pieza encajan mejor como una unidad, y aporta a la apreciacion de la obra.

  • too fast, not enough emotion and sounds a bit too robotic for my liking. Good job for high school though

  • more like WAY too fast :P but yeah I agree, I still haven't found a more emotional version than the one on your channel its my favorite rendition of this song ever! :D

  • It's not really fair to say it's "too fast". The tempo is up to the director's interpretation. It may have been performed faster than you've heard it before, but it's her artistic choice. It's not better or worse, just different.

  • @AndiEmme1 not if a distinct tempo is written in the score, which (in the copy I am holding in my hand as I type this) it is. and for some reason (idk call me crazy) this doesn't sound like a tempo of 60 beats per minute...

  • I find that the a cappella version sounds better. Anyhow, great performance.

My school's choir sang this in the World Choir Games in Graz last year.

  • I just realized something else. Since the composer spoke Spain Spanish, not Mexican Spanish, the word "Si" should be pronounced "thi"

  • Not necessarily - only some dialects of "Spain Spanish" pronounce it that way.

  • true, but I have visited the area that he was from, and they used "thi"

  • Vowels could use a little more work as a whole. By the way, it's "escrito esta en mi alma." The music has a typo right there, but you can read the poem on the inside cover and it's written as "escrito esta" instead of "escriote."

  • Not a huge fan of the vowels, though.

  • Okay, I know this is in Spanish and all, but I swear I heard "Han Solo" in the part where the basses hold out that one note for long.

    Hah.

    But seriously, great job guys.

I get to do this next week in MSVMA State Honors Choir. Woo! Can't wait!

  • Don't worry, you're not crazy. They say "Tan Solo." I was just in a choir that sang this and I love this song. nice work men!

  • Wow, this is inredible! I sang this in high school and I cried every time, including right now. Keep up the good work

  • i may have posted too soon. i just heard teh second half

  • it took us a long time to get it like this. we spent like 4 rehearsals getting lectured to make the emotional connection. but i definitely think it helped. i never listened to what we did until now. but the moment i heard it i could definitely feel the connection

  • I did this SATB in high school, but this is beautiful as well. It made our choral director cry when we did this. These guys have a really nice sound and good emotion I think.

  • TTBB is the better version. men's voices together are so nice. kinaesthetics help with singing btw. i.e you move when you sing

  • I agree with sportsdude. Good job, but where is the emotion? This is one of my favorite Stroope pieces. The emotion is just not there.

  • great singing, but it's almost like you don't know what the words mean, and your just singing the text...it's an excellent song and when song with the right emotion can impact so many people's lives
