Never has there ever been a band so prolific and influential. They raised the bar for everyone coming after them, even 50 years later. The planets were definitely aligned when Lennon and McCartney decided to make music together. I don't think you can go anywhere in the world, where someone, at some time hasn't at least whistled a Beatles tune in their lifetime.

The "glass onion" is from one of John's memories of a stained glass window at his house on Menlove avenue. There was a tulip-like flower that looked like an onion peeling its layers. Glass onion on a window.

Why thank you. I've been away for awhile & was amazed at the # of thumbs up to my comment. I had so much more but kept trying to get it under 500 characters; still lernin utube limits. That said, I always loved the "heres another clue for you all..."at the time hidden meanings made you really examine lyrics--they were deep in thought yet playful & fun, rockin hard, yet soft heart-felt melodies & ballads-much differnt from lots of todays in your face rap (luv some of it 2)

Just think, 4 kids born in a lower class area during WWII heard different kinds of music, absorbed it all & practiced playing & covering songs they heard, wrote a few of their own, played at little dives, then better places, learned recording, tried to sell a few records, became very close & took on the world, writing songs that are even at this moment being enjoyed by millions, many hearing certain Beatles records for the 1st time & loving it.
