  • @14marshl buy the real game systems noob lol

  • @14marshl if you like to collect stuff then get the normal system if you want to save money and space then get the retro duo ( before you buy one check out the compatibility list so you know what games you can play)

  • everyone, watch my Snes/Genesis unboxing

  • it looks awesome but id rather have the actual games consoles because of the novelty

  • Guess who's pickin one up

  • Ima bout to order this kuz I havent played final fight since I was tiny lol

  • sooooo wait if i am in canada aight and i have a snes can i play super mario rpg?????

  • should i get this

  • Ooh, shiny plastic, a really bad idea for a console lol. Those ports are even grey as if they have taken them from snes excess stock!! lol. Critisisms apart, good idea for a console and overall, well done!!. great video, definatly wearing make up though!! :o(

  • This system has ONE disappointing feature other than the included controllers

    the NES slot!

now, I have no biggies about the NES slot being difficult to insert or remove games into

but what I DO NOT like is the fact that once you succeed in placing an NES cartridge into the slot, the thing will wobble from the slightest breeze causing crashes and artifacts to pretty up your screen. a slight bump to the table or a tug with the controller will clean out all of your extra lives...

  • irate gamer has that i wonder y...

  • fc twin sucks mine broke

  • that's because they super glue the damn parts together go ahead and open one you'll be amazed

  • fc twin sucks

  • has it scratched away pins on 1 game or more because it just might be the game

  • im about to get the fc twin cuz i dnt have money to get this 1

  • I have one, and it works fine doesn't over heat, like a Xbox 360. Saw PS3 slim at Best Buy. felt it only reason it was some-what warm they let their systems run 8 hrs. a day

  • @FFAnimeFan777 the ps3 slim is awesome

  • oh woopydoo thats just another five! I bet U got em off amazon and waited like a year for them to come!

  • no they came in 4 to 5 days

  • then u can buy nes and snes cleaning kit!

  • You are wrong! it dont ruin ur classic games. and may catch on fire a little easy like every console but I own this console for 2 months! nothing happened to me I play metroid and super metroid on it and they work FINE! so u are wrong.

  • but did he have it plugged in rite, and was he using the rite voltage of chord? lol the i know the wires on these things rly suck

  • did that happen to enyone u no?

  • nope its just like another 2 in 1 console and it works fine like any other one!

  • i rather just get the super nintendo and the nintendo seperate

  • no why would u? would u really want to waste over $200 for two seperate consoles?!?!?!? when u can get dis at game traders for $70!

  • I have this thing, it's pretty amazing,

However the NES cartridge slot gets really fucked up,

NES games weren't made to be top loaders,

every time you take out an NES Cartridge it chips off the connectors in the slot,

The SNES slot still works, because those games were made for top loading

  • I think my original reply got dropped because I included a link. Anyway, what I was trying to say is there's a seller in Winnipeg called PnP Games that sells them for about $43 CDN. Look them up on eBay.

  • In Canadian it cost me $50 + Shiping

  • Comment removed

  • its should play n64 too then it would be perfect

  • "ghostinthefog1666"

they had to wait for the patent to run out for the nes and snes before they could make it otherwise the maker would of been sued, obviously. the n64 patent is probably not expired yet. but it would be awesome when they make that

  • it should also play wii

wait the wii plays wii, cube, n64, SNES, NES, Genesis, WiiWare, and Neo-Geo....

  • so what, those are emulations. I would rather play the real thing

  • Then it would be a RetroTriple.

  • See also: FC3.

  • @ghostinthefog1666 yo if this thing played n64, I would have never sold my old retro duo console!

  • @ghostinthefog1666 then you should get a tristar64. NES+SNES+N64 games.but you need a real n64 to use it.

  • @darkraitrainer590

The thing is a N64 controller is so much more advanced that the NES or SNES so it would not make sense to put the N64 with the other 2. Also, the 64-bit N64 is way more advanced as far as hardware goes and may cause problems with the other 8bit and 16 bit. Dun get me started on the RAM expansion

  • @ghostinthefog1666 theres a version for the n64

  • @ghostinthefog1666 or nes, snes, n64, and gamecube all in one!

  • @TheSuperMarioFan10 that would be impossible until either the 8th or 9th gen of gaming.

  • @ghostinthefog1666 If a company started making the "RetroTrio" I would buy that VERY quickly.

  • @marmar3291 go look up fc3 plus.

  • its the retroduo v2.0 but i never saw v1.0 lol

  • I think I did! its a kinda newer nes console.

  • LOL ^_^

seriously, though, it's believed that Rolling Thunder won't load, Paperboy doesn't recognize the controller, Battletoads freezes on the second stage (although some have debated this), and it doesn't support the NES zapper.

The only SNES games that won't work are PAL, which is probably a power issue. It is, to date, the only clone that can play Star Fox and Castlevania 3.

  • ThinkGeek Sent me a response to my question ("Does it work with PAL games ?") And guess what; That's a toploader NES/SNES so it's plays everything! :D I ordered one!

  • Im selling my nintendo 8 bits with superpitfall, ghostbusters, megaman 3 and ninja gaiden 2

  • i dont think id ever buy one of these

i would rather have the original

  • Are you wearing makeup?

  • playstation 3 games

  • hahaha

  • I might get it!

  • for 40 $

  • The system is alright, not the best but cheap and affordable. It is generic and the controllers are junk. Now if you want compatibility get a nes and then a snes. So i hope you take my advice screw s video its not worth it mine is new and i want to sell it

  • i what to find out if the duo controllers works.

  • what ever happened to sweet johhny cage

  • colors remind me of the U2 ipod video lolol

  • Magic!

  • I got mines two days ago too! The only thing I dislike is how the power supply unit is awkwardly shaped and I hate there is no button to "pop out" the game cartrdiges.

Other than that, the system is well worth the $70 bucks I paid (which included shipping to Canada)!

  • i got one 2 days a o

  • will thise things work on a english tv ??

  • The RetroDuo is designed for NTSC TVs, but I know that there are PAL TVs that can display the NTSC signal, but because the RetroDuo outputs in NTSC, it will cause compatibility problems with some PAL games. You can make the RetroDuo output in PAL, but I'm not exactly sure how(I know how on the Super NES side, but not the NES side).

  • comaster2 what you do is keeep pushing it in until it locks onto the game system but you will have a little hard time getting it out

  • whats the cost?

  • Mine cost about $75.01 Canadian (which included the shipping cost). On top of that, I had to pay about $15 in customs fees. :S

  • I have the same as your!

How does the NES games works? When I insert the game is very loose and it doesn't fit that much to the NES hole. How did your works?

    Please, answer me.

  • These clones suck ass.

  • i got one i was wondering are the nes games supposed to fit loose because mine does

  • Good video man.

  • cool, i have the fc twin. i'm a big fan of video game central. one question though? can the black model get finger printed.

  • I got the Retro Duo as well, you can use a super gameboy with it. You can even use your old SNES controllers with it in case one breaks for some reason. I have the same version, just a different color variation.

  • I don't know if I should get this or the Sega Genesis one.

  • to anyone getting the block problem when you insert your game. Try pushing the game in deeper than you normally would. It feels like you're forcing it almost, but this is how I got mine to work. hope that solves some problems. thanks for the tutorial!

  • I Like The Fc twin

  • lol. A converter for Super Famicom games? You never needed a converter. There are two pieces of plastic where the cartridges go and you can just break those off and tada! you can play super famicom games.

  • Are there any stores from which I can buy one of these? I was going to buy it from the site but since I live in Canada (Toronto) the shipping is 50 Bucks US! That's the same price as the thing itself and I don't want to spend 50 bucks I don't need to on this thing.

So if anyone knows any retail stores that will be selling this if you could reply that would be great.

  • I got mine at Play 'N' Trade, try there or online.

  • My problem is the opposite...the SNES part works fine, but with the NES it just has a bunch of jumbled squares(its the same if i turn it on without a cartridge in, maybe a connection problem?) if anyone know, plz help!

  • I have a problem with the Retro Duo (can anyone help me?).

I can only play games for the NES (so far), if I insert a SNES cartridge (PAL), it just a black screen. With two of my games there appears: SNES cartridge is not compatible with this SNES (or something like that, I will look again to bu sure) on the screen.

Usually I use for the NES-part of the Retro Duo the RCA connectors and for the SNES-part: the S-Video cable (or do I have to use a scart with S-Video connector?).

    Please help.

  • is this better than the original snes ? because my snes is pretty old and some games dont work (might b the games) and i wanna buy one !

  • Well yea i guess if you want it just to play classic tittles. Id rather go old school for nostalga

  • i have a NES, and a SNES. both work "okay" both cost me about 30 bucks each, with all hookups and remotes. i wish i knew this damn thing existed, so i could buy it for 40... DAMN ALL!!!

  • well yeah u couldve got a good price nd everything but the retro duo isnt as well performing as both the nes and snes so i wuld rather have the original systems

  • this is brilliant & really S**t at the same time! :S

  • Explain.

  • well its awesome 7 that but its definitely no where near Nintendo Official.

  • ice blue looks more inviting in the disine

  • from what ive seen it works with everything, couple of games taht dont work... star wing has some glitches and mega man 1 pal doesnt work

  • No they are not! The patent on the technology to play NES & SNES had expired that is why they are able to be made.

  • hey can i find this at any retal store in MS

  • Haha no they aren't. Owned!

  • cool dude cool

  • mine was $20.00

and every game works on mine.

  • where did u get it? cuz on other places its usually 40.00

  • You won't get one free, Pay the $40

    It's worth it.

  • cool

  • i've heard they are going to make an adapter so you can use nes peripherals and controllers

  • What is s video is it a recording device?

  • another video in/output that has slightly better quality

  • ARGHHHHHH i'm sooooo pissed off this thing doesnt play euro nes games, thats the reason i bought it! why on earth did they leave that out? the gereation nex was a pile of gash and the still played euro nes games.

  • lol big eyebrows

  • Can You Play Duck Hunt With the Super Scope or no?

  • nahhhh i wouldnt have thought so... the snes to nes adapter should be to far away now tho...

  • Does anyone know what voltage this this needs? Would I need a step down converter to play it in the uk?

  • 12 volts.

  • Everwhere else says it's 5 volts. I've also contacted the makers and they said it does play euro nes, you bloody liars!

  • the bloody liars, not you, sorry.

  • I meant 2 put 5 but i said 12. I'm GLAD it plays euro NES b/c then we can play games from 5 systems (American and Euro NES, American and Euro SNES, and Japanese Super Famicom) so thanks. It don't play Famicom (Japanese NES) b/c that has a 60-pin configuration while US and Euro have 72-pin.

  • the generation nex played jap famicom games which was cool, but the picture was horrible and the sound was soooo bad!

  • It Does, but only a few popular games work though.

  • I know, It sucks, only SNES

  • Mwhahahahha, just got mine yesterday and pal nes games DO work, the only difference is that they're played at a slightly higher rate, which i dont see as a problem at all so i personally think pal games are too slow anyway. as its played at a higher rate the music is played two keys higher, which actually sounds pretty good.

  • Ok, thanks for the info

  • So it works with Australian pal games? NES and SNES?

  • can this work with any NES controller? like the classic on with the system?

  • No, but it works with all SNES controllers (i.e. SNES Mouse, Super Scope, Normal Controller, etc.). It DOES NOT work with NES controllers

  • hmm so I need a spot with av white and red... and another one for s video and white and red... this isn't saving space on my console switcher. Why not just plug white and red av and s video... won't that work?

  • nevermind... it does that.

  • Does this work in europe?

  • Yeah. It plays American NES games, American SNES games, European SNES games, and Japanese Super Famicom games.

  • Thanks man

  • but does it play euro NES games??

  • No, only the SNES side is Region free.

  • you're kidding? loads of places said it does! agrh ive just bloody bought one!

  • It plays American NES, American SNES, European SNES, and Japanese Super Famicom games. I've owned one 4 a while and it DOES NOT PLAY EURO NES, ONLY EURO SNES!

  • tested and tried, pal nes games work. admittedly they are speeded up slightly, but they work just fine.

  • those are awesome dude i just picked one up today and played both my nes and snes games on it, works perfectly

  • I WANT ONE! that is SO cool! I was just thinking how cool it would be if they made a system that could play nes and snes games! now I dont have to decide to get one or the other.

  • I ordered one and its comin 2morrow!

  • I could probably have one by now but I bought lego indiana jones instead.

  • Will this ship to the uk.

  • Great System, and I am in loce with the controllers.

  • sweeeeeeet i am so buying all of the dragon warrior (quest)games from 1-6

  • does this play japanese games?

  • It was a good idea to put the NES and the SNES together as one console.

  • they need to add on 64 to that, that would be sick.

  • the patent rights probably the reason they haven't done it yet. I'll bet they do that someday. Surprised they haven't done anything with mastersystem or atari.

  • I believe Atari renewed the patent rights.

  • Very nice review, but how did you get weighty? This thing is as light as a feather to me (about 12 oz). And it is very small.

  • where can u get this?

  • easy as pie, ebay for about $39

  • other generical console , bah

  • Except that it isn't a piece of shit.

  • Is it safe to assume that since Super Mario RPG works, that Dragonball Z Hyper Dimension (from Japan) will work also since they both utilize the SA-1 chip?

  • cuando llegara a españa uno de esos retroduo

  • cuando llegara a españa uno de esos retroduo

  • I need this
