Kefka is more Godlike and powerful than Sephiroth. Killing him completely finished him off, not to mention completely destroyed magic itself, or at least seemed to.
A super-soldier... Sephiroth was a super-soldier BEFORE FFVII. During FFVII he is like a parasite at the center of the planet, feeding from it's energy, more than anything else.
People underestimate Sephiroth against Kefka, because they still think of Sephiroth as a mere super-soldier, while thinking of Kefka as a God. But they forget that Sephiroth became one with Jenova, a planetary parasite, the same way Kefka became one with the three goddesses of magic.
Ok, now tell me where i can find a 3d movie with kefka like Advent children, or another game like Crisis core or an appearances in a game like Kingdom Heart or a anime movie like Last Order????........

While Sephiroth wanted to burn the planet for the people who made him what he was. HAd they both been in the same time line they would have used each other to meet their means and then try to kill one another in the end.

Kefka was a stupid ass nobody, was given some magic powers and used artifacts to again a godlike power and his personality is 0.00000000 Sephiroth actually has a decent story line, he has a purpose, hes cool as fucking shit, he has the knowledge of the ancients so he knows EVERYTHING, he held back the power holy while sleeping in the crater for the entirety of the game and can literally control people with his mind and fuck... he destroys planets! After hearing of Dissidia I been having this great idea that in KH3 they should have a war between disney villains and FFA villains and Sora and crew are thrown in between the two sides the FFA villains would be led by Xehanort and the disney villains by Melificent.

Two different characters, but think about this first: would you rather be slaughtered by someone with pure physical strength or a maniac who can tear your soul apart with dark magic?
And so that no one would be tempted to flame me: what started the argument is someone's statement that Seph has NO personality and achieved nothing. It is wrong. In fact, it is Kefca, who has no personality.
About who is more villainous, I never argued (it is obviously Kefca). My liking of a character is based on other things than how many people he had slain and how many worlds destroyed. (although it was correctly pointed out that Kefca didn't destroy the world either)
@Mrhaux Prove it, please. I've already elaborated on Seph's personality a few pages back. I am not going to repeat myself for 100th time on this site. Tell me what's complex in Kefca. Back story? Motivation? Personal struggles? So far - he's just a shallow, regular villain who LAUGHS! (tell me why most villains have to laugh - it's insanely stupid).
If it's any consolation of yours, initial designs of Sephiroth's personality were similar to Kefca's. SE really didn't do it purposefully.

Back-story don't make a good villain, f.x. the Joker from TDK. He is the first who was expperimented with Magitek which gave him his great power but had to pay for it with his sanity.
Kefka's motivations are similar to the Joker, bring destruction and chaos to life, just because they can and enjoy it, due to their insanity.

Sorry, but you didn't mention anything in-depth. Kefca doesn't raise any questions; Kefca won't make you do any interesting observations. Just like Joker, he is there. Kefca possesses nothing ambiguous in his character.

Sephiroth brings sympathy. Kefka doesn't. That makes a good villain.

Also, Sephiroth acquired the knowledge of A and humanity - HOW can a being with such vast knowledge think is another HUGE question. And his personality - I found about 10 layers to all he is and does.

His development in the LS was little. He was insane before he went there, and he was insane after it. The only thing I saw was that he was more manipulative and smarter.
Still a good villain, I just like villains like Kuja and Kefka better.

Oh, and another question I found interesting (the last one I'll mention). Since he was raised in a lab as a child prodigy, isolated, what character traits he ultimately loses JUST because he wasn't raised as a social being.
I'll just say this in a real simple way, so that ALL would get it. You may like Kefca better, and it's your personal taste. Others like Sephiroth better - their choice. But saying that one is ultimately better than another... is like saying red is better than green. You can only be better at certain qualities, like intelligence. Here there can be some argument, but you have to know FACTS to support your claims. And if you don't know what a fact is or a logical deduction, then... can't help you.
I've never played FF 6 or 7, but from what I've played of this game, I think Kefka is better than Sephiroth. Lets face it, Sephiroth is a momma's boy, unemotional freak.
Kefka is insane, has a comical yet deadly personality, and actually had more brains than Sephiroth.

When it comes to Kefka, it seems that since more people are Seph-fanboys, the Kefka fanboys will compensate by making videoes or statements in which Kefka completely owns Seph. The reason some people prefer Kefka, may be because he is like the Joker in Batman - He's Chaotic Evil to the extreme, no need to indentify with him - which leads me to Seph.
Seph is cunning, wise, and not the all-powerful queen bitch of the universe, and he has character, which makes identifying with him, alot easier.
@Rav0n I guess deceiving and murdering an emperor isn't cunning.....Kefka was great because everyone underestimated him at first, then rose to prominence by taking the power of The Statues....when it comes down to it, it's up to the player to decide which was more shocking....Aerith's death or the transformation of the World of Balance to the World of Ruin....

@CGGodbee I am honest - I haven't. But neither have I played FF7. I only played Crisis Core. Does it change my knowledge and understanding of Sephiroth? Believe me - sometimes it's better to just read the script - then you won't miss the most critical points.

If nothing else, play it for the music....Oematsu does an amazing job with the soundtrack, although Aerith's Theme is strikingly similar to Aria Di Mezzo Caraterre. Don't get me wrong, I love FF VII (in fact I plan to play it again as soon as I get a working PlayStation and memory card). But the hype FF VII gets for being the first FF on PS pisses me off. @CGGodbee Actually, I know more about FF7 than most people who played it. XD And music - I listened to the soundtracks and watched people play it online - the scraps of it. I just cannot stand Cloud. Playing as Cloud and defeating my all-time favorite character (Sephiroth) isn't worth anything for me. :D And FF6 is just toooo old for me. After CC... just no. :) I study it because I like analyzing things and finding patterns.

Saying nothing about the characters, the Sephiroth player/cpu idk sucked so bad it was unbelievable. Seriously the Kefka player was alright, but I think a brain dead moneky could play Sephiroth better.
To be short, Sephiroth is intelligent and has a great motive/reason (not an excuse) and a great and more or less coherent goal. He manipulates smartly and sits back to enjoy the show.
Kefca just goes and says - I'll kill you all with my awesome powers. Cause I have infinite of them. What's interesting about it? Or bad ass? Makes me bored out of my mind. It's obvious he is a nihilistic psychopath and needs no motivation.

After hearing of Dissidia I been having this great idea that in KH3 they should have a war between disney villains and FFA villains and Sora and crew are thrown in between the two sides the FFA villains would be led by Xehanort and the disney villains by Melificent.

I heard one guy say that advent children is better than the game and something about the characters being more developed.

And so that no one would be tempted to flame me: what started the argument is someone's statement that Seph has NO personality and achieved nothing. It is wrong. In fact, it is Kefca, who has no personality.
About who is more villainous, I never argued (it is obviously Kefca). My liking of a character is based on other things than how many people he had slain and how many worlds destroyed. (although it was correctly pointed out that Kefca didn't destroy the world either)

@Mrhaux Prove it, please. I've already elaborated on Seph's personality a few pages back. I am not going to repeat myself for 100th time on this site. Tell me what's complex in Kefca. Back story? Motivation? Personal struggles? So far - he's just a shallow, regular villain who LAUGHS! (tell me why most villains have to laugh - it's insanely stupid).
If it's any consolation of yours, initial designs of Sephiroth's personality were similar to Kefca's. SE really didn't do it purposefully.

@VMarron Kefka is maniacal, short-tempered, flamboyant, destructive, and cruel and his Nietzsche philosophies and magic abilities developes throughout the game (unlike Seph)
Back-story don't make a good villain, f.x. the Joker from TDK. He is the first who was expperimented with Magitek which gave him his great power but had to pay for it with his sanity.
Kefka's motivations are similar to the Joker, bring destruction and chaos to life, just because they can and enjoy it, due to their insanity.

Sorry, but you didn't mention anything in-depth. Kefca doesn't raise any questions; Kefca won't make you do any interesting observations. Just like Joker, he is there. Kefca possesses nothing ambiguous in his character.

Also Seph's depth isn't that well done. So he was an experiment. "Great, I start trying to be a god, even though this hasn't affected me in years". And his motivations are as one layered as Kefka. He wants to bring a meteor to the earth, nothing more (and I don't bring the other games into this)
Sephiroth brings sympathy. Kefka doesn't. That makes a good villain.

@Mrhaux Megalomania is intricately connected with bad childhood often - only that question is interesting to study. Also, Sephiroth acquired the knowledge of A and humanity - HOW can a being with such vast knowledge think is another HUGE question. And his personality - I found about 10 layers to all he is and does.
These questions and more were raised by his character (in me, at least).

@Tiajuan Sephiroth starts losing faith in humanity, like Kefka starts to lose faith in everything, because his insanity doesn't bring him any joy in life but to destroy, which he does pretty often in the game.
His development in the LS was little. He was insane before he went there, and he was insane after it. The only thing I saw was that he was more manipulative and smarter.
Still a good villain, I just like villains like Kuja and Kefka better.

Actually, Sephiroth has endless potential.
Oh, and another question I found interesting (the last one I'll mention). Since he was raised in a lab as a child prodigy, isolated, what character traits he ultimately loses JUST because he wasn't raised as a social being.

I'll just say this in a real simple way, so that ALL would get it. You may like Kefca better, and it's your personal taste. Others like Sephiroth better - their choice. But saying that one is ultimately better than another... is like saying red is better than green. You can only be better at certain qualities, like intelligence. Here there can be some argument, but you have to know FACTS to support your claims. And if you don't know what a fact is or a logical deduction, then... can't help you.

When it comes to Kefka, it seems that since more people are Seph-fanboys, the Kefka fanboys will compensate by making videoes or statements in which Kefka completely owns Seph. The reason some people prefer Kefka, may be because he is like the Joker in Batman - He's Chaotic Evil to the extreme, no need to indentify with him - which leads me to Seph.
Seph is cunning, wise, and not the all-powerful queen bitch of the universe, and he has character, which makes identifying with him, alot easier.

@Rav0n I guess deceiving and murdering an emperor isn't cunning.....Kefka was great because everyone underestimated him at first, then rose to prominence by taking the power of The Statues....when it comes down to it, it's up to the player to decide which was more shocking....Aerith's death or the transformation of the World of Balance to the World of Ruin....
Maybe you identify more with Seph, but Kefka was a fucking psycho, and that's why I love him....

Kefca destroyed half the world; Seph destroyed Midgar and unleashed WEAPONs, which toppled SHin-Ra and took down whole villages (the one that Cloud was at crippled). Do you need more parallels? If nothing else, play it for the music....Oematsu does an amazing job with the soundtrack, although Aerith's Theme is strikingly similar to Aria Di Mezzo Caraterre. Don't get me wrong, I love FF VII (in fact I plan to play it again as soon as I get a working PlayStation and memory card). But the hype FF VII gets for being the first FF on PS pisses me off. Well, Seph does no less. He crushes a company that was a world dominating power and which neither Avalanche, nor Cloud would destroy almost single-handedly.
And again - I am and always was fine with tastes. My personal interest in Seph's character is even deeper - he offers a unique, unexplored notion of godhood. (as being one with the world = the essence of it). I can rant about it forever if not the stupid 500 char limit. :)

@CGGodbee Actually, I know more about FF7 than most people who played it. XD And music - I listened to the soundtracks and watched people play it online - the scraps of it. I just cannot stand Cloud. Playing as Cloud and defeating my all-time favorite character (Sephiroth) isn't worth anything for me. :D And FF6 is just toooo old for me. After CC... just no. :) I study it because I like analyzing things and finding patterns.

To be short, Sephiroth is intelligent and has a great motive/reason (not an excuse) and a great and more or less coherent goal. He manipulates smartly and sits back to enjoy the show.
Kefca just goes and says - I'll kill you all with my awesome powers. Cause I have infinite of them. What's interesting about it? Or bad ass? Makes me bored out of my mind. It's obvious he is a nihilistic psychopath and needs no motivation.

Ok This Sephiroth sucked. If this was a good player he would be using "Shadow Flare" alot so Kefka couldn't camp with his Brave attacks. Also, Sephiroth has an infinite brave combo that he can use. *sigh* noob Sephiroth is noob.
