  • Hooyah!! I'm an engineer in A school and I have orders to this ship !!!

  • Best of luck, its a fantastic Ship and crew.

  • Great job on the video. Have seen it more than a dozen times. My son also serves on her and the family was all present on the pier that day. In fact my fifteen minutes of fame appears on the second to last frame. you must have standing right next to me because you caught my hand holding my minicam. Was hoping to take the tiger cruise when it was unexpectently cancelled. Made 30 pounds of my famous buffalo wings and bought 30 pounds of scrapple for the occasion. Go PHILLIES. Tansey Sr.

  • I've just finished a plastic model of the ship. It's an amazing enginering masterpiece, but THat's it. I have no emotional connections.

  • I was never on Roosevelt, but did 4+ on 68 right next to Rosey. Just transferred, in November, got sent to MS for school and then headed back to Mayport for GEMD. Lot of good friends on Rosey, just about the whole of what was once the Combat suite and Weps dept.

The best part of a homecoming, for me, is the sounding of the whistles. The ship, and her crew, take a journey together, and for better or worse, become a family. Every other ship on that waterfront is the same way.

  • But, in a bigger picture, we are all on the same team, thus, all a part of the same big family. Thats why we call em, "Sister Ships". So when another ship comes home, we blow our whistles, because we as the crew, relate to the journey they just walked. Its ups and downs, good times and dark times. We relate, and so does the ship. The whistle, is our way of paying respect to the journey, and saying to our sister ships; "Welcome home, we have missed you"

Thanks for the vid Curtis, well done.

  • I served onboard Rosie from 2003-2007. Great ship, I will never forget it.

  • Nice vid. I was Stationed on this ship from 2001 to 2005. My wife is a plankowner also. We miss it very much.

  • My girlfriend serves aboard this ship too. A remarkable ship and a magnificent crew. I have seen it at Mayport and it is an amazing piece of machinery.

You must be so proud of your son, I know I am extremely proud of the work my girlfriend does.

  • Thank you yes I am very proud of my son as well as all the men & women who serve aboard the Roosevelt. There is not a moment that doesn't go by that I don;t thank the Lord for hese men and women who serve to protect us. All my best to you and your girlfriend.
