photography is art, but whoever attends jazz festivals knows that MOST "professional photographer" "working" at a festival, are just guys with a good camera.
it is important to document... but - what the fuck - you guy got a digital camera, why dont you shut the click off!
the photographers dont bother me in this movie. in this music.
the music has dance and thought and spirit in it. he grunts because he is human. expression. but not self conscious precious grunting. and those chords. and those melodies.
and the dark low. and the harp high. human and celestial. but not all the time. but now.
"the clicks of idiot so called 'professional' photographers" - I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! it's obnoxious. especially since they don't realize NO ONE NEEDS THEM. they should go do something useful instead, like baking bread, or whatever. the music is the magic here, taking pictures of someone making it is just comletely senile / retarded. clic clic, GET A LIFE!
def one of highlights of NSJ 09 - and one of the reasons I crossed the North sea, but ironically at some point I really couldn't take anymore during this gig- it was too intense, sort of like Coltrane circa 66/67; would love it if you could post more of Taylor.....
Cecil Taylor is to the piano what Hendrix was to the guitar. Cecil plays it like it were a child's toy. And he's been doing it for a half a century!

not as fast as he used to be, for obvious reasons, but sounds like he can still lay down the thick.

Tone is malleable; reality, less so. Why do we all have to get old?

@PeterVerduyn photography is an art as well.. And art should never be "useful".. ;-)
However, I do agree that the camera clicks could, atleast, have been better placed, at high-points in the music or something like that.
