I too have been in firefights like this? but that was a Turkey shoot? The US will never win anything if their so called professional Armed forces work like this. Never been to J-bad but good work on showing a limited knowledge of the AO. I lived in an Afghan army base, training them and rolling all over Paktia and Paktika (RC East, remember?), down past Orgun-e and up to Kabul, running patrols with 2 US vehicles and a bunch of Afghan Army Ford Ranger pick-ups. We encountered the enemy, destroyed the enemy and moved on. Such was life for my year there. The closest i got to J-bad was going to Salerno for a few days. Good effort though.

We are professionals. We are leaders. We are a cut above the civilian populace and we definately didnt act like a bunch of wild animals with too much testosterone and a penis-size problem.

Never been to J-bad but good work on showing a limited knowledge of the AO. I lived in an Afghan army base, training them and rolling all over Paktia and Paktika (RC East, remember?), down past Orgun-e and up to Kabul, running patrols with 2 US vehicles and a bunch of Afghan Army Ford Ranger pick-ups. We encountered the enemy, destroyed the enemy and moved on. Such was life for my year there. The closest i got to J-bad was going to Salerno for a few days. Good effort though.

I agree it would have been an embarrassment to the service back then, but seeing the guys now, your luck he didn't start throwing up Gang signs. AQ on the other hand targets mosques, churches, bazaars, markets, busy streets - all intending large civilian mass casualties for the terror effect, and to discredit a given government. The Irgun targeted the British administration & Palestinian rivals, not the general population.
