  • Congratulations.

  • what kind of modem do you have???????

  • the 2 coils are ferrite torroids, the 2 green things are capacitors and i think teh orange thing is a capacitor but im not quite sure.

  • i dnot get it why da hell did you post this vid if u don;t no a shit bout electronics ot internet or wahtever.....WTF "there's a little green thing and a orange thing " cpacaitor of course before you post anything just try and find info on what u're showing

  • From one of those filters i made an extension for the cable.I plug one cable to the side that says phone and the other cable to the side that says line so can have the double of the cable lenght. The part that had the "mail" part of the filter ive toke it of from the filter .Resuming i made a 2 cable connector with it.Its easy to do and handy when you dont have a cable with enough length.

  • @guido69x

you can actually make a splitter out of one of these for your phone if you only have a jack with 1 outlet so you can plug a phone and satellite receiver for example into the same jack (my case but I bought a 2 outlet jack so I dont need to do that.)

  • @guido69x

I made a splitter out of this filter. I removed all of the caps and coils and then tied the 2 jacks together so now this is a splitter now.

  • @coondogtheman1234 thats a good udea too ! ;) Cheers

  • @guido69x

I did mod it to a splitter I just need to test it on a phone but all the wires check out as hooked up properly. need to try it on a phone to make sure it works. I will get a vid of it up soon.

  • Come on, AT&T isn't going to be mad with you just for detooling one of their filters, they are so cheap that they don't even care, now detool your modem like me! >:3

  • @AmazingDX

I dont give a shit, it doesnt work anyways so why would they want it back. this is long gone by now.

  • i have a much older version of that and i took it appart and it looked at least 5 times bigger(the coils)

  • this one is newer a REV (Revision) 8, whats the REV number on yours it should be lower b/c its an older filter

  • cool i tryed this and it blowed up on me somehow with other coils and how did you open it up mine is EXCELSUS Z-BLOCKER DSL FILTER MODEL Z-330OPJ

  • yours is EXACTLY like mine. I uses a small minus screwdriver and gently pry apart the case but if you watched this video then there isnt much point in doing this unless you wanna hack it into something.

  • You can use those little coils to make a "Joule Thief". It is a fun little LED project.

  • i might try that, a buddy of mine on here he made one and used it to make a flashlight out of a computer mouse i might tell him about this and do it.

  • thats cool hacking stuff

  • Looks like it has two simple LC filters, each using a coil (inductor) and a capacitor.

These things also work well to help improve dialup modem and fax machine speeds even on phone lines that don't have DSL on them.

  • I read the filtering *only* becomes operational during phone calls, probably more lies from the official sources. But yeah, different filters give different speeds too, particularly these aftermarket ADSL2+ certified ones. Interesting.

  • @PurpleSoprano

These split the DSL and phone signals separate so the DSL signals go to your computer and the phone signals go to your phone.

  • Ive allways wanted to know what those things are made out of

  • Well now you know, and if that was you who rated this video, thanks and glad you liked it.
