  • I was gonna do this, but then you said it's not a permanent fix and a lot of comments are saying it can melt the PS3, don't wanna risk it. But good tut for people selling though :)

  • @coolcar100 you have YLOD?

  • @xMistaNinja Yep, and I hate the YLOD, I do have an Xbox and a PC that's good enough to play games, but before I got them I had my PS3 , and that has Black Ops, Battlefield 3 (which I have on Xbox as well, but I'm a higher level on PS3), MW2, you know, most of the games people like. And I can't play half of them because my PS3 decided to test out it's yellow light :S

  • @coolcar100 lol unlucky, can you still play on it?

  • @xMistaNinja No it gave me the YLOD, meaning the console will no longer switch on because it is detecting a problem, so it will automatically shut down for safety reasons, like to prevent a fire or something.

  • i tried it it worked for a couple mins then stopped. good video tho

  • i pretty much did this exactly the same way and it didnt work, any suggestions?

  • The heat will not effect the HDD there is no need to remove before doing this. Great video btw.

  • Dain u grow fast!

  • ok this fix worked ! im quite surprised about this. i have one issue tho . now the ps3 fans not working meaning the console warns u after a few mins that its getting hot and shuts off.

    any ideas

  • damn the back f my ps3 melted the plastic bit i think its coz i kept it to near but i reccomend u open it then do it my prob was didnt have screwdriver that fit

  • Worked like a charm, Thx!

  • THX!!!!!!

    It worked!!!!!!!!!

  • what u should have done is SHOW US that u actually had the ylod before "fixing it"

  • umm this is second time im doing it first time it workd but after few days i got red light blinking and then i got ylod again gonna try it agian

  • Your method worked for me, thanks!

I hope it work for enough time to save money for a slim.

  • Comment removed

  • im in the cooling process.. i hope this works.. but question.. what is the damp wet rag for?

  • Did it twice to the exact and it didn't work so fuck all you who it worked for

  • Fuck U!!!!!!! Didn't Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well like I said it worked for me. Only lasted a week. But that was plenty of time to do a backup, so I would advise anyone doing it make sure you back it up ASAP after you get it working again.

  • I have a disk jammed in my ps3, and due to the YLOD, my ps3 won't stay on long enough for it to eject. Would your method damage the disk inside if I were to attempt it?

  • @HermieNmaybeU You have to turn-off your PS3 with the back switch. Then stay pressed the eject button and turn-on the back switch. The PS3 will force the fans, and in that moment you can eject the disc normally.

  • Man this was the thing that i needed, thanks for posting this for the little guy and not trying to make a buck!

  • Worked for me. Backed it up straight away and it's still working.

If it happens again can I try this quick fix for a second time?

  • Can't heat it with the HD

  • It definitely works. Worked for me but was only able to stay up for another 10 minutes. Then it went back to YLOD.

  • Oh it worked on the 3rd time! Yay!!!

Now it has to hang on for 2 hours for the data transfer...

  • Holy shit, you're godsend. I didn't think it would work, but it actually did. I'll like subscribe and whatnot, you're the bee knees man.

  • My dad doubted me... but I managed to fix it by doing this. Thank you man, you're a beast.

  • Now it's cooling, please god let this work....

  • Holy fuck, just do it... this could be a 1 minute video.

  • just did it hope it works crossing my fingers

  • should we take out the hard drive after or before blow drying it?

then when do we put it back on?

  • letting it cool now hopefully it works :)

  • if this works i will tell every1 to subscribe

  • This works perfectly! I followed all the steps exactly, great job! :)

  • anyone!!! reply. how long did oyu do this and did you do it this long

  • I cant actually take out my harddrive coz the screw is all deformed and a screwdriver wont fit in it properly. But all i want to do is fix it and sell it for a slim. But will it affect the console?

  • @MrSTOPSTARIN it should not harm anything .

  • I did this but didn't use a box, just blocked up the exhaust vents with a pair of jeans. It worked fine. Thanks mate.

  • It worked!!! Thank you so much!!! My PS3 had been sitting under my bed for months. I tried a few things to fix it but had no luck. I followed your video and it worked like a charm. This is so awesome!!! I subscribed!!!

  • nothin!

  • Fat PS3 RLOD'd on NYE:-( Followed instructions (fan, hairdryer) but used my PS3 box instead. Worked perfectly! You can see the plastic vents have bobbled slightly, but nothing major. I only needed PS3 to work long enough to data transfer to a new slim I bought yesterday anyway, which It did and it still works. Its now in the loft taking a well earned rest!

Thumbs up and suscribe from me. Thanks.

  • I have no idea why I'm watching this. I have a slim, and my PS3 YLOD'd about 2 years ago.

  • Hey, PLEASE reply. I did this and now when I try to turn it on it just keeps blinking red. It doesn't go yellow, green, or anything. Just red. Do you know what the problem is?

  • @wiIlybobo it means its overheated you forgot to cool it down with fan

  • @mrkerterable Yeah but its still doing that? And I did this like 4 days ago. I did cool it down with a fan. Its been blinking red for 4 days.

  • @wiIlybobo well you need to send it in to repair from what im reading on playstation support

  • nvm about the question i watched your vid again and you said i could

  • Terminator i was wondering if i could just put my ps3 in my fridge becuase i can't find a fan atm

  • @LiTolMan278 Dude stop using it and get a new PS3 and data transfer. If you don\t it will eventually not turn on at all.

  • Bro its jon.. Ur a boss for this...
