  • Very moving the music. What have those trees see in the past?

  • on 3:07 = Jenkins. Karl Jenkins. :-)

  • mantab sekali mas'bro............perfect

  • I remember hearing this song when I was little on this advert where the boy is underwater, looking for a pearl. I'm 16 now, it's taken me years to find it. Doesn't surprise me that it's Karl Jenkins, he's amazing

  • So beautifull!

  • <3 :)

  • This song rouses joy and emotion...like most of Karl Jenkin's music...great and gifted man

  • Sudan...Rwanda....Nigeria....all of those countries rolled into one song.

  • The music was great, but i was really blown away by the slide show. It was a pleasant surprise.

  • ez egyszerűen gyönyörű

  • This music has now been put to words in Stabat Mater - I don't know which came first.

  • Beautiful

  • This is repetitive...I mean, you have to admit it, it is.

    Still, very triumphant and great.

  • I swear there is a pagan chant in there but I have no idea.

  • Karl Jenkins is the greatest great of the great...that doesn't really make much sense but you get what I mean.

  • Awesome love the piece. And the slide show Rocked!

  • 3:58 is sooo wierddd

  • the harmony at 0:45 is a bit strange - it kinda ruins the gracefulness by making the singers sound like they have colds

  • Anybody that does'nt lik this is'nt human

  • @LegendKnight93 Are you the dude from yahooanswers?

You sent me to this vid!

  • HEAVEN IN VOICES AND COMPOSITION !

  • ...and i see that 2 people have disliked this song in the past 4 months :[

  • 7 people are heartless

  • You don't always need words. Sometimes, a song is defined by the emotions the music creates, and not the poetry behind it.

  • awesome.. i feel my spirit

  • moving tune

  • when you feel your soul shake, when you feel your heart break. when you fell like you can acomplish anything. When you feel like nothing is possible. When you triumph above all odds. When you are crushed lower than the ground. This song captures these contrasting feelings with an ability that surprises all. To Have a song that can shake the human core as this does is a rare song indeed. Many songs now are just pieces of breath that come out chopped and bashed about. This song is from the soul.

  • 5 people don't know the greatness of this song.

(The 5 people who marked this as a thumbs down.)

  • superbe montage ,trop beau....

  • The reasoning behind the quasi-language was the need to use vocals without any meaning subtracting from the overall effect.

Unfortunately the effect is to make the music somewhat boring, as with repeated listening the `lyrics` can be learned. It would have been better perhaps, to have used an archaic, or otherwise unfamiliar, language to achieve more complexity.

That said, this is a beautiful piece of music, of which I never tire.

  • @pomincanada Yes; he wanted to use the voice as an instrument just like a violin or flute, in which he has succeeded.

  • It nice to see that you spread the love but then go and put nasty comments on other peoples pages. Total faker..... Don't be taken in by this guy. Just clocked his comments on a Yoga Lesson. (_*_)

  • i love this

  • its made up not really a language just a creation by karl jenkins

  • yea and its hard to sing...we had to sing adiemus for a festival...hard but so fun

  • this is beautiful !!

  • This is not the whole song. The beginning is cut off and so is the end.

  • do you know where to find the whole version?

cause I really want to find it!

  • The composer is Karl Jenkins, and it's from the album "Adiemus 2" It's full title is Cantus, song of tears. Hope this helps you.

  • This is not the whole song. The beginning it cut off and the end.

  • so beautiful this man is great

  • great

  • Truly one of the most beautiful songs recently composed!

  • Karl Jenkins is a Genius!

  • Très belle musique

    Congrats !

  • love the pics

  • Haunting...

  • I think the pictures are very suited for this song. It's like I'm walking through the forest and there are fairies everywhere around me and I'm overwhelmed by their beauty and music. Very nice!

  • Gaihaltai!!! wonderful pictures...

  • Did you know that a theory says that Karl is hearing these tones and lyrics in his dreams? And not just that, as far as i know he is hearing the musics of Atlantis. Really.

  • Its Beautiful T-T

  • My favorite part is from 0:52 through 1:11.

  • jenkins music is so soothing.. it makes me fall in love with it.. good for deep meditation thou

  • Music is a purely emotional creature; it doesn't necessarily need understood words to pass along its message. I love jenkins' music because it striked me to my very core and that's to me at least, the sign of great music. As for tears, I see tears of joy and hope in this piece. Amazing.

  • It's ironically funny that Jenkins thought the same way (music needs not meaning of words) when naming his work Adiemus thinking the term does not exist thus listener doesn't have to be occupied with lyrics. Turned out that the term did exist and has a meaning. It's a great piece of music nevertheless but I thought the whole thing was irony.

  • What is the meaning of Adiemus?

  • RSAdiemus - Adiemus means "we will draw near" it is from the Latin.

  • hmm.. thank you :)

  • @Raevynschylde thanks for your comment, i couldnt write anything better to expres my feelings about this song

  • @Raevynschylde "Music is a purely emotional creature; it doesn't necessarily need understood words to pass along its message."

this is just beautiful what you said. I was searching for the words to express that as i'm not really good with bringing to the outside what i have in my head. i wish i knew your name so i could put it next to that in my "inspired words" or "words of wisdom" :)

  • @billsdestiny --you are very welcome. I never thought my comment would mean so much to others. Drop by my YouTube page--Raevynschylde's Nest. Music is truly a universal language; the melody alone can affect people who don't even share the same language the same way. Music is a powerful unifier that often gets left along the wayside.

  • song of syllabils,

  • dites donc, votre vidéo est sans doute une des plus belles que j'ai vu jusqu'ici sur you tube,en plus que la chanson sort du jardin d'eden.

  • le video est mon favorite mon amore!!!

  • First, like any of the tracks on the Adiemus albums, are not in any language. The 'lyrics' are made from syllables and 'words' invented by Karl Jenkins, the composer. They are specifically designed to not distract attention from the pitch and timbre of the voice - it's supposed to enable the voice to act like an instrument, nothing more or less.

  • i did not know that but really it's awesome!

  • Kitsch

  • They are trying to sound like music.. there is no lyrics. xx

  • music is an expression within itself, there are no need for lyrics

  • its not latin...something ike african or a mixture of syllables i harly recognize BUT sounds fantastic.....!!

  • i love this song particularly.... makes me feel so peaceful, re-charging my emotions, being one with nature..

    love KJ....wow!!

  • Comment removed

  • yes, it is only "nonsense syllables". i alwasy wonder how you can memorize such a "text"! have already problems with proper words.

haaah, have the goosebumps again. love jenkins!!!

  • do you know what they're saying?

  • what on earth is LATIN about that:

sha la ga ma ru sa a mi a ma vei ma sha la ga ma ru sa sha la ka ma ru sa sha la ga ma ru sa a mi a ma vei ma sha la ka ma ru sa

sha la ka ma ru sa [...]

    ???

I had latin at school for 8 years, so don't try and fool me.

  • I agree, I used to sing Latin in my Catholic school choir and it didn't sound anything like what ever that is.

  • We sung a song from adiemus and it went something like "aravatuwe akala" etc. They're like words but not in any language we know. I think he tried to emulate latin but not to use it.

  • i faintly remember a text i read in one of the covers about 15 years ago, that it indeed is an invented language, but one that should reflect the tribal languages of africa a bit.

maybe there is something to it.

  • @mushummel

it's quite easy btw. Easier than remembering actual words because the syllables support the melody and repeat A LOT. I participated in a project that performed Adiemus I, remembering the words was a piece of cake, achieving the sound of an African woman was not... Still, a lot of fun.

  • This makes me feel so much happier when I'm studying... <3 Karl Jenkins

  • cool

  • I really get a thrill at 1:52-2:05

    I really, really like this.

  • indeed!! i am sitting here, shivers running up and down my spine.

  • relaxing music and nice voices

but can anyone tell me what are they saying? or its just a melody in thier voices

    thanx for the video??

  • Adiemus, I'm pretty sure, uses an invented 'language' of sorts.

  • Yes, they are just using invented "words" so that the voice functions only as an instrument.

  • In a Sense, All words were invented at sometime...

  • beautiful

  • Amazing music.

  • Sounds like "Cantus lacrimosus" of Stabat mater.

  • Stunning. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Wonderful!

    I save it!

    5 stars

    love it!

  • Did the arrangement have 4 parts (sopran, alto, tenner, base) im trying to find a song for a group of 25 singers. Do you think it could work?

    Thanks from pmfh

  • um, we havnt done it yet, but it would be for sop's and altos. if there were males in our choir, id be pretty scared as it is a famale choir! lol

  • Awesome vide to a very eautiful song. Thanks for sharing this ^_^

  • I love how this is a video responce to something by snoop dogg

  • As pretentious as it may sound, I think it's good that Snoop Dogg listeners have a chance of discovering some "finer" music now.

PS. I dig Snoop, so it's all good.

  • good but I lika Adieums better.

  • Brilliant, and I rarely say that:)

  • I would like to be in places where pictures are made.

  • BEst!

  • Ah, so incredibly calming...

Anyone else think the voices sound like they're being played backwards? Hehe.

Love it :) Nice pics, too. 5/5

  • It's because they're crescendoing at the very end of each note they sing. It does sort of sound like the voices are being played backwards, though.

    I've always loved this song.

  • cool pics. "Posted in response to Snoop dogg"... nice :D

  • wonderful-just the best music

  • This is called Song of Tears and it is from Jenkins' second Adiemus album called Cantata Mundi.

  • can you tell me where you got the pictures from?

    simply Breath-taking!

  • It's Songs of Sanctuary. not tears

  • Actually, the name of this song is Song of Tears. Songs of Sanctuary is the name of Adiemus' first album.

  • Sorry. I knew that ages ago. was just too ignorant.

    I never make such mistakes.

I've corrected many ppl who get titles wrong for years. And now, this is the first time i've been corrected. thanks for letting me know.
